Re: Build error: The current node cannot contain other nodes
I just fixed this problem using the above method. I've been developing a new template and received this error when I first went to build. After a fruitful couple of hours wasted, I went home, ate, burned some night oil, and discovered (by toggling off topics one by one using conditional text) that t...

Re: Dynamic Project Linking?
That's where I guess this will have to go. I suppose I'll need to file a feature request.

Re: Need help with regular expression to remove span tags
Download and install the Kaizen plugin from: https://www.kaizenplugin.com/ . Do it now! This plugin features a tool specifically for your use case. Open your project, select "Replace Tags in Folder", pick the offending span class and what you want to change it to (an undefined <span> for e...

Dynamic Project Linking?
I am trying to set up a dynamic release notes template. The architecture I have in mind is that the doc structure and most of the narrative will reside on the writer's home machine, but will draw in a dynamically-generated table converted from Jira. I have a Jira query set up to produce a table, whi...

Re: Any plans for adding markdown support?
I realize it's been a few years since anyone asked, but this tool does the trick: https://www.kaizenplugin.com/ It does two things really well: it pulls a big markdown file into Flare, and if you tell it to, it breaks up the resulting file by heading level into separate topics. If you are getting Fl...

Re: Complex selector: li pre
Dave wins.
Thanks for bringing me down to Earth! This is exactly the sort of answer I was after: at a fundamental level I was indeed asking CSS to do something that made no sense to it.

Re: Complex selector: li pre
Thank you Alex and Choccie. Alex: Your code sample shows you have a good grip on what I'm discussing here. What you propose is more or less what I'm hoping to "correct," though having an off-stylesheet definition riding along in the followup li tag itself is something I hadn't considered. ...

Re: Complex selector: li pre
Thanks for your response. Changing the sequence of the complex selector definitions in the stylesheet did indeed provide more predictable outcomes. Nonetheless, nesting a pre box between untagged text blocks inside a list item appears to negate on any changes I make using a pre li complex selector. ...

Complex selector: li pre
Hey -- I'm trying to show code samples in box-formatted <pre> elements inside of list items. The bottom margin is too close to subequent text inside the li element, and I'm trying to increase the margin-bottom under the <pre> box. I'm hoping to keep the semantics as simple as possible, so the ideal ...

Disc (Bullet) is different size in UL and MiniTOC
Flare 9, Windows 7. The MiniTOC in the template I've inherited has a ul/li disc (bullet) that is different from the Mini-TOC disc/bullet. The MiniTOC disc/bullet is much smaller -- it looks to be a Unicode middle-dot character (Alt-0183), while the ul/li list-item bullet looks to be a standard bulle...

Re: Active cross-referencing to text from graphics?
Thanks, Margaret! I tried this and it looked promising, but I got no traction as I tried to test my output to PDF. If the following exchange is to be believed, the good people at MadCap have decided that PDF is a "print output" format and thus not worthy of functional image map links (see:...

Active cross-referencing to text from graphics?
Hi all. I'm trying to make a graphic with references to the text. The idea is that the user sees the step depicted on the chart, and can point to it and be taken to the linked heading in the text (usually pdf, but we're slowly gearing up for HTML output). In the past, I was able to use FrameMaker’...

Source Control (GIT) from Square One
I continue to investigate implementing single-sourcing for my group. As far as I can tell, Flare really wants to import through a source control system, rather than directly through a file system. My company is phasing out Subversion (which has native Flare support) in favor of Git (apparently not s...

Linking to topics in a repository
Another n00b question... I'm investigating single-sourcing with Flare 9. At present, I have very Frame-ish source material (PDF-only output, chapters are set up as single topics with lots of internal H n styles), and I'm trying to break it up into a truly topic-level structure. One thing I want to a...

Re: Automatic PDF Document Properties?
Thanks for the replies. Todd: I think you miss my point. I want to have a template in which I never have to set the PDF properties manually, because those properties are populated when I set the variables (I want to title the book once, when I set the variables. I don't want to have to set the varia...

Automatic PDF Document Properties?
Greetings all. First ever post. Be gentle. I am a newcomer to Flare, but am hoping to bring new tricks to the template I'm working with. When I used FrameMaker, I concocted a pretty slick trick that eliminated the need to populate the PDF Document Properties fields manually. In Frame, I used a PDFMa...
