Re: Import Word docs from SharePoint and producing new outpu
Thanks, I appreciate it. I have been unable to have the Link generated files to source files work because it generates an error saying, "String cannot be of zero length. Parameter name: oldValue" I've tried many times with different things and nothing is working.

Import Word docs from SharePoint and producing new outputs
I have a group of contributors I want to work with and they do not have access to Flare. I want to try having source content in several word documents on SharePoint. The idea is to have them add/update content in the documents (following some basic rules like using headings) and then update the Flar...

Re: Using Flare to make PDF with destinations intact
It's been a long time since this post was created. We're in a position where we need to convert FrameMaker books that use Timesaver for PDFs over to Flare. Does anyone know if there's a way to preserve the settings (anchors/bookmarks) from FrameMaker and have the same functionality in PDFs generated...

Re: Merging branches taking a long time
Oh, that's disappointing to hear. One thing I've learned is to close all files before switching branches. I made that mistake a while back and now I close all files, close Flare and reopen to switch branches. And I agree, it is slow, even on smaller projects. I did run into the issue where it doesn'...

Merging branches taking a long time
I'm using the latest version of Flare with ADO/git and have been trying to merge a branch into main for the last 2 hours or so. This is my first production trial of using branches. All testing and trials up to now have been rather small. This branch contains a lot of changes, additions, and deletion...

Re: Source Control, Build and Publish
@JRtechw Great info on the branching. I'm trying this out now and was wondering if you've had any problems with Flare still showing deleted branches? I created two branches and then used pull requests to merge back in. They down show up in DevOps but they are in Flare.
Any thoughts?

Re: Different page numbering in TOC and content page
We have a similar problem and our topics are using tables too. The document is only 8 pages but the page numbers go to 9. For example, it shows 1 of 9 in the footer and some cross-references say page 9 when it should be page 8. I tried playing with all the TOC entry properties to ensure that Auto-en...

We aren't sure what happened and I'm guessing it was network noise or something. It worked just fine when we compiled and published it a couple of days later. Very strange.

Re: Git and merging changes from branches
Did you switch branches in Flare? I find that you need to have the branch that you want to merge into open and then you can merge from the other branch into it. At least that's how it works for me. I'm currently using GitLab.

Re: Is Git and merging broken in Flare?
Did you get this resolved? I don't know how much help I'll be, but I've run into similar issues with GitLab. I had to compare files and manually resolve them. Then I was able to get it to work. If you're familiar with the source and destination changes, you might be able to get away with an approach...

Missing navigation panel
In Chrome and Edge the navigation panel is missing when we open it as a website. If we open it as a file such as from the build panel or from the file system, the navigation panel is there. It appears to open correctly in Firefox and old IE 11. We're using the tripane help. I tried creating output f...

Re: Remove social media links from html5 template
Check the applicable Master Pages. I don't remember if the icons were only on the home page or in the whole project so you may need to check the HomePage.flmsp and the OtherTopics.flmsp. I hope this works for you. You'll see that they are in a DIV and you could experiment with whether you need to le...

Where are window layouts
I just upgraded to Flare 2019 and noticed that my saved window layouts are not available. Where are they stored? Is there a way to copy them from the previous version?

Flare hangs on MS Word import
I'm running Flare 2017 r2 and trying to import a Word document. After I select that option it hangs on the "Checking MS Word version..." prompt. Could this be due to security? We're unable to update Flare at work or register it. We're running Office 365 on Windows 7. Any help on how I can ...

Re: Not able to bind Perforce in Flare 11
We've had similar problems and have had to resort to the same solution as you. Checking files in and out of Perforce. This is quite inconvenient when renaming files because you then have to manually remove the original file from source and then add the newly renamed file. This causes us to lose hist...

Re: Flare 11 with Perforce - Performance Question
I was unable to get it working satisfactorily. How about you? Maybe down the road we might use a different source control since we can't bind with Perforce. It is a little frustrating because we often move files around and rename them and Perforce doesn't recognize this when you check files in and o...

Thanks Nita. I'll look at doing that. I'm on version 11 right now. I suppose that in the meantime I'll need to look into using the reports for this purpose. I just hope they are accurate as I would really like to clean out the project if possible.

Link Viewer not showing TOC in Linked From
I'm looking at a topic and trying to determine where it's used. When I click the Link Viewer it shows no incoming links. However, there is a TOC entry that links to it. Is this expected behavior? How would I determine whether a topic is truly being linked to?

I'm in the process of trying to bind Flare projects to Perforce. Playing in a sandbox right now and have tried both Streams and Depots. Is there any way to use the TOC proxy for HTML 5 output? I'm exploring different ways to accomplish a specific layout and am considering using it.
