Re: Blog on Streamlining Search in MadCap Flare with a Dynamic Dropdown
Might be best to contact Mattias directly about this issue. I don't use search highlighting so it is not something I tested for.

Re: Blog on Streamlining Search in MadCap Flare with a Dynamic Dropdown
The issue with quotation marks and Boolean keywords that I previously referenced has now been resolved by Mattias. You need to replace the handleSearch function with what is attached. I have tested and it works okay for me.

Broken link: Missing phrase type
Hi all,
While using the flare analyzer feature, it flagged a broken link in the target file. The broken link seems to be related to some microcontent. But I do not know what exactly is broken or where to find it. I have looked through the microcontent file itself but I cannot see anything obviously ...

Blog on Streamlining Search in MadCap Flare with a Dynamic Dropdown
Hi all,
There is a blog on the madcap site around search from Mattias Sander (https://www.madcapsoftware.com/blog/flare-dynamic-dropdown/). It is very nice. Unfortunately, there is no way to respond to Mattias directly from the blog to ask a question. Anyway, I tried out his update and it works ...

In the properties of the search phrase, is the use of conditions an option or perhaps deselecting the check box in the properties Include micro content in search results?

Hi there,
Not an ideal solution, but you might need multiple targets to support this (see viewtopic.php?f=9&t=33727).
thanks,
mark

Replace drop-down icons with Font Awesome icons?
Hi all
When you insert a drop-down around content in Flare, the output displays a Plus and Minus icon to show and hide the content. These icons display as background images in the css I think. Is it possible to replace these icons with Font Awesome icons?
thanks,
mark

Re: Multimedia upload
Hi Mj,
I am using version 2021 r2. I think that option has been there a while (see attached screenshot)
I would guess that you could still add the html manually to link to videos (via iframe perhaps).
thanks,
mark

Re: Set Java path in Flare?
Thank for letting me know Josh. Yes, I kind of gave up on it too.
The IT team in my company would not allow download from the Java links Madcap provides (that is, these https://www.madcapsoftware.com/downloads/java.aspx). I installed an equivalent OpenJDK version, but it did not work.

Re: Role-Based Content Filtering
I am not aware of a feature for that in Flare, so I guess you would have to do some additional custom work to do it.
I did notice before there was some custom work to use Flare conditions to filter content in a topic based on a selected version (but it was only per topic it looks like), but ...

Hi Josh,
Having a similar issue so just wondering if you got it resolved? I cannot view svg files in Flare. Even though it appears I have Java installed, Flare prompts me to install Java using that pop up.
thanks,
mark

Re: micro content and mediums
Could you apply a condition to your microcontent file and then in the Conditional Text tab of the target use the Display by Media Query action to control when the microcontent is applied. I have not tried this, it was just a thought.

Similar to the previous post, the main benefit is the automatic updates. The bronze email support is okay for random queries or issues.
I think many software companies concentrate on introducing new features ahead of fine tuning existing features.
