Hi all
I've been asked to add some text to the bottom of the side navigation pane of one of Flare's side nav skins.
The skin editor does not cater for this. Is there a script that I could add to the skin to enable this?
Any help much appreciated.
Best wishes
Davbo

Re: Building Word output
Many thanks for your help. The layout problems I've experience are just general untidiness, with things not aligning correctly, and graphics not displaying properly (or sometimes not at all). I'll try making a new page layout and stylesheet section as suggested and see how it goes. Previously, I'd i...

Building Word output
Hi all I usually output to HTML5 and PDF from my projects. However, it would be useful to also have a temporary Word version of the output for review purposes and other uses. As I understand it, Word output requires a separate page layout from PDF and other tweaks. Any time I've tried, the Word docu...

Re: PHP server-side scripting on MadCap Central
Hi all
Just in case it's of interested, MadCap support have confirmed that Central does not support any server-side scripting for security reasons. However, custom JavaScript is no problem.
Cheers

PHP server-side scripting on MadCap Central
Hi all
Can anyone tell me if PHP scripting is supported on MC Central? I have a project that uses a third-party search engine that uses PHP scripts. However, on building, the script does not run. The PHP file instead downloads locally.
Any help or ideas much appreciated.
Thanks, David

Re: Accordion menu in Tripane Nav panel
Hi Dave Just to give you some background information. I'm trying to build a documentation portal that users can access to scroll, view, search and download across a range of documents in different projects. The Tripane layout has the advantage of allowing users to view documents while still seeing t...

Accordion menu in Tripane Nav panel
Hi all I have a project that uses the HTML5 Tripane template. I would like to style the navigation pane so that is displays an accordion (smartmenu) menu instead of the traditional menu. I have found a post from Dave Lee (thanks Dave) that details how to modify the Tripane skin, and have installed t...

Re: Editing the HTML5 Tripane skin
Hi Dave
Many thanks for the help. I hadn't noticed that section of the skin editor.
BTW, is it possible to shift the position of the icon, for example to place it at top right-hand side of the menu item?
Cheers

Editing the HTML5 Tripane skin
Hi all I'm building an HTML5 project using the Tripane skin. I'd like to modify the menu by changing the 'book open' and 'book closed' icons to arrow icons. There doesn't seem to be a way of doing this from the skin editor, so I think I have to modify the catapult skin directly in the text editor. I...

Bullet points in PDF output
Hi all I've noticed that in my PDF output, bullet points (the round icons) are not centered on the accompanying text. They line up with the lower edge of the text. It doesn't happen with online output. Does anyone know how to fix this. I can't see anything in the css stylesheet. Help much appreciate...

Re: Flare 2018 View Output button
Button still does not work even on highlighted completed PDF builds. (It does work on HTML5 builds.)
The build PDF is accessible by other means, but not the View Output button.

Flare 2018 View Output button
Hi all
I've just upgraded to Flare 2018, and find that after building PDF output the View Output button in the Build window no longer works. However, I can still select and double-click the build to open the PDF.
Has anyone else noticed this?

Props file has number string appended
Hi all Sometimes when I create PNG graphics in MadCap Capture, I see multiple version of the .props file with unexpected number strings added to the file extension. For example: cable_comp.png-496b6a46.props. In this case, 496b6a46 is added to the extension. Can anyone explain why this is happening....

Bubble call outs not displaying properly in PDF output
Hi all We're finding that when our HTML5 Top Nav is published to PDF, some of the graphics have callouts (made in MadCap Capture) that don't display properly. In particular, the text in the call out is truncated so that the last few words are not visible. Rebooting, restarting Flare and generating a...

Hi Alex Many thanks for your reply. I've added the following CSS to the @media mobile section of my stylesheet: MadCap|breadcrumbsProxy { display: none; font-size: 0pt; } I'm expecting display: none; to hide the breadcrumbs from mobile output, but so far no luck. Is there something else I should add...

Drop-downs to toggler conversion
Hi all
Just wondering if anyone has experience and tips on how best to convert multiple drop-down text section into togglers.
Anything that might speed things up over doing each one manually would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Drop-down headings in Web and Print outputs
Hi all I'm developing documentation for both web and PDF output. The Web HTML contains many drop-down headings that are styled using the DropDownHead and DropDownHotspot classes (not sure what the difference is between them). For Print output I've adapted these in the @media print section of the sty...

Auto-numbering headings
Hi all I'm trying to create PDF output from an online source. In the print section of the css stylesheet I have auto-numbering for the headings. However, I find that, for example, a level 2 heading such as 1.2 is out of alignment with a level 2 heading such as 1.10 (because of the extra number). Fix...
