Re: HTML5 Tripane header: missing logo image & blank bgr

I thought I'd post the solution to this behaviour: It turned out that the header logo graphic was in a separate SVN repository to the main help project. When I built the help locally this wasn't an issue - my PC had access to the other repo. But Jenkins running on another PC didn't, so the image was ...

HTML5 Tripane header: missing logo image & blank bgr

I'm making output using HTML5 with the Tripane skin. For no reason I can find, in the generated help the logo png image is missing (although I can still click on its location to return to the homepage) and the header background colour is white/blank rather than our corporate blue.

It's a real ...

Re: Image optimisation software (batch) recommendations?

I thought I'd update this topic: The tool that worked best is called Mass Image Compressor. On a trial run it reduced a 300Mb image library of mostly png's down to 100Mb. The canvas size was always untouched, and it reduced image size by reducing colour bits and resolution - there were many 4 or 8 ...

Image optimisation software (batch) recommendations?

I've completed a mammoth conversion of FrameMaker documents into Flare. The output was PDF from FrameMaker and it's now HTML5 from Flare. It generated over 2000 web-safe images in jpg and png format.

I've noticed that some of the images are much bigger than they need to be. E.g. a png that was ...

Removing Browse tab also zaps Contents ToC! (HTML5 tripane)

I'm creating HTML5 help with a Tripane skin with Flare 2021 r3.

I've encountered a weird issue that may be a bug in Flare. My project already had a Contents tab with a ToC in the navigation pane, but I decided to experiment with adding a Browse tab. But when I removed the browse tab (by de ...

Re: HTML 5 Help deployment w/out internet connection

Some of our users can't have internet access, so we install our software to their desktop PCs from a DVD or USB drive. The help (HTML5 Tripane skin) is part of the install as a zip file. The installer unzips it and puts it in a help folder so that any help calls from our software can find it.

Thanks Psider, that worked. I added sans-serif to the font-family in the CSS for tables and MainStyles and it now renders ok on both Windows and Linux.

What fonts are common to Windows, and RH/SUSE linux (HTML5)

Hi. I'm producing HTML5 help with the Tripane skin. I've had a few issues with poor font substitution on SUSE linux. The CSS specifies Sans as the font family, and this works ok in Windows (Edge, Chrome, FF) and Red Hat linux (only tested on FireFox). But it's being substituted with a Times Roman ...

Re: Renaming Subsystems folder

I've just encountered this same issue - the dev team and product owner would rather the /subsystems folder have a meaningful name in our HTML5/TriPane help system. The merged projects are all small apps, and they'd like the folder to be labelled /apps.

Is the folder name subsystems hard coded into ...

Flare won't pick up values from variables file General.flvar

I'm using Flare 2020 R3 to produce HTML5 output with Tripane skin.

I have some docs that mention the current version of our software, so rather than type it in many times for each release I've added a variable name VersionNumber and a value 2021.0 to Project > Variables > General (the file called ...

I have several small projects in Flare 2019 R2. They all have 8-12 topics under 3 book files in the navigation pane of my Tripane HTML5 help. I.e. the ToC looks like:

Book 2

PDFs from madbuild crash Acrobat Reader DC (Flare 2019 r2)

We use PDFs for a few of our user facing docs. Some are output from Flare with 'madbuild', and some from FrameMaker + Acrobat Distiller.

Now when we try to open a PDF that's been output by Flare as a print PDF target, and is built from madbuild, we get the error message in the attachment i.e. a ...

Google analytics (or similar) in a CHM?

Hi all. I was wondering if anyone had managed to get Google analytics (or similar) working from CHM help? I have a couple of old products to maintain that still have a big user base. It would be very useful to find out which bits of the help are accessed the most.

This old thread from 2013 asks ...

Tripane logo - replacable by variable for different targets?

Hi all...

I'm producing two user guides from one project. It has 2 target audiences with lots of overlapping content; developers and end users, and hence two output targets in Flare.

Both use the same Tripane.flskn skin.

Is there a way of replacing the logo PNG in the Tripane skin's header with ...

Table Style with different fixed column widths?

I'm working on a document with lots of tables, it's going to be output as HTML5 Tripane and PDF.

Most of the tables are 4 column and I want them to have fixed but different column widths, e.g. column 1 = 2cm, col 2 = 8cm, cols 3 & 4 both 2.5cm.

I was hoping I'd be able to create a table style that ...

Re: How do I change default folder name from /webhelp?

After some thrashing around I solved it by myself! I just need to save the Target name with the desired output folder name e.g. Target = WebHelpApp1 saves it in the folder /WebHelpApp1. Now they all have different, non clashing, names.
