Thanks for the tips.
I tried both methods, and madbuild.exe still exits with the same error.

PS Here's what I had in the Target:

Bug? Anchor tags throw mclog error: missing linked source

I am using madbuild.exe (version 15.0.7081.30245) to create PDF targets.

For HTML anchor tags whose href destinations are not valid (for example: <a href="url placeholder">url placeholder</a>), the build log displays:

Re: How to clear old project names in start new project wiza

Of course, an easier way that's now available is the Flare UI itself :D
Just click File on the menu, and then, in the lower-right corner of the dialog box that appears, click Manage Recent Projects.

Re: How to clear old project names in start new project wiza

In Flare 2018, the list of recently-opened projects is stored in:
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MadCap Software\Flare\CatapultMdiEditor\RecentProjects

The list is in reverse order, with the most-recently opened item having the highest number. The last item in the list shows the total count of ...

Re: madbuild log file problems

Figured it out. I changed to:
-project "c:\myproject.flprj" -target "My Target" -log true

Flare then saves its typical .mclog file at:
<project>\Output\<user-name>\<target-name>

Best way to get PDF/X-1a:2001 with the CMYK color palette?

Our printer is asking that we send them PDF files using PDF/X-1a:2001 with CMYK color.
Does Flare have a setting for this, or must we use a 3rd-party tool?
Which tool is the best? Are there any tools that support automation/API?

Thanks for any wisdom :D

madbuild log file problems

Not sure what I'm doing wrong here, but I am not getting a log file.

I am using a Windows Forms application to run the madbuild process with the following ProcessStartInfo argument:

-project "c:\myproject.flprj" -target "My Target" > C:\Build\madbuildLog.txt

This builds fine and shows: Exit code ...

Select word using double-click--is this configurable?

In the Flare editor, when I double-click a word to select it (for example, to style that word with a span tag), Flare selects not only that word, but the following space character as well.
This results, if not corrected, in lousy XML:
Here is the <span class="foo"> Selection </span>that I get.

Why is this div's bottom border repeated in the PDF?

We have a div element whose CSS style specifies the following:
{
margin-left:20px;
margin-right:30px;
margin-bottom:10px;
padding-bottom:10px;
border-bottom: 2px solid gray;
}

When we build the PDF, this works fine unless the contents of the div spans more than one page.
In such cases, the ...

The resolution: the target solution html file had an errant period character, which, when removed, resolved the issue.

xref not working--weird symptoms

We create PDF outputs that have practice topics, with associated solution topics in an appendix. We use MadCap:xref to create mutual links between these topics.
All has been fine until now, when we have a weird issue with one set of mutual xrefs: in the Insert Cross-Reference dialog, when I select ...

Re: madbuild.exe failure with ExitCode 2010 -- help!

Thanks for the tip.

I was finally able to get the code working, although I'm still not certain what 2010 means, or why the "fix" I made would have worked (a minor change to how I prepared the ProcessStartInfo). I think this will ultimately have to be laid at the doorstep of C# rather than madbuild ...

madbuild.exe failure with ExitCode 2010 -- help!

What does the madbuild.exe ExitCode = 2010 mean?
When I build my target in Flare 12 or Flare 16 r2, it builds my PDF just fine, with no Warnings or Errors reported, only Messages, with "Ignored Compiler Warnings: 205".

If I then close Flare and immediately try to build the very same target using ...

Also, it would be nice to have more information about each of the ExitCodes. Does this information exist somewhere?

Can madbuild.exe be used to Publish?

I'd like to automate a publish using my own code (for reasons I won't get into here).

The publish operation will have from 1-3 destinations per target.

If I use madbuild.exe, it is my understanding that the "publish" part (copying the build to the various destinations) will be up to me.
Is this ...

Can I turn off auto-insertion of non-breaking spaces?

It seems that Flare takes it upon itself to insert non-breaking spaces ( ) on my behalf when it thinks something perhaps should be kept together. For example, when I type MY Data File.csv into a "filename" span I use a lot, the XML is likely to show as <span class="filename">MY Data File.csv</span ...

Re: Export Project with AlwaysHidden conditional?

Well, I figured it out...I must edit the Target file to "Include" those items. Flare apparently treats a project export like a type of publication when it's based on a Target file.
Seems odd to me, but what do I know?

Export Project with AlwaysHidden conditional?

Each of our XHTML content pages contains a DIV element that is adorned with a MadCap conditional: AlwaysHidden

We use this as a kind of XML data island.

When we export a project, however, this element is stripped out. How can we do an export WITH this DIV included?

Many thanks,

Accept All Changes in a file using code

For Flare 11, does anyone have any code (or an XSLT) that shows how one would programmatically Accept All Changes in a file?
I hope to be able to click a button (not in Flare--in my own app) that would run code to Accept All Changes in an entire course (TOC) so that I could then generate a PDF that ...

Re: Scripted (scheduled) target builds?

Cool, thanks! Here's a dumb question:
Can madbuild.exe be copied to a machine that does not have Flare installed, and run by providing credentials of some kind on that box?
Or would I need to have a whole, licensed Flare install on that machine?

Scripted (scheduled) target builds?

Is there any way to automate the build of a Flare target?

Ideally, I would write a Windows batch file and have it run on a schedule.
When the .bat executes, Flare would build a specified target and put the output in a certain location.

For example:
flare.exe --build C:\MyProject\Targets\mytarget ...

Great. Is there a way to execute an "Accept All Changes" on an entire project, or must I visit every HTML page and do this one-by-one?
