Term/definition list formatting
Hi all, My bouts with Flare are very sporadic, so I don't get as much focused time as I'd like to solidify my learnings. Hoping someone can assist me with what I believe is likely a fairly simple task. I want to have a quick / consistent way to format a list of terms and their associated definitions...

Remove social media links from html5 template
Hello, This is likely a very easy one for the group. I would like to remove some of the social media links from the footer of the home page (using the Balboa html5 template) and am failing to understand how to do that without disrupting my page. If someone could point me in the right direction, or t...

new css selector only shows in editor
I have made a 'Note' selector off my p style and have apparently done something wrong. Everything looks good and produces the output I am expecting, but only in the editor. If I attempt to preview my output within the editor, or build my project and view it there, then I see no formatting specified ...

CONSTANT hanging using Flare 2018
Is anyone else experiencing non-stop penalty holds while using Flare 2018? Almost every 30 seconds to two minutes, Flare will hour-glass for anywhere between a few seconds to a minute or so. It is borderline usable at this point. I am working with a tiny project, my system resources are plentiful (w...

Trying to better understand top nav and toc
Hello all, This is a very basic question, I'm sure - but I'm trying to ensure I have a good understanding of this before building out a ton of stuff incorrectly. I am taking a PDF project I've had for a few years now and am converting that over to Top Nav. I have read through the docs on converting ...

Re: syntax highlighting with prismjs
Your tip to look for the script error on the page pushed me in the direction I needed. Total newbie mistake/thought process, here. I was expecting to see the syntax highlighting in the editor/preview, which in hindsight, makes no sense given that the java script is most likely not going to process i...

Re: syntax highlighting with prismjs
Hello all, I am trying to get Prism working in my instance of Flare 2018 and am running in to issues as described (no formatting changed at all). I have tried following the advice given in this article but am still missing something. I was wondering if there may be a clearer set of steps somebody mi...

Re: Assign class to image - I'm missing something
So this is probably a very basic question, but I have much to learn in this arena. When it comes to placing images, say just inline with text... text... ... ... img more text... ... Is it ok / standard to have the image be within a paragraph tag? (this is how mine is). Or, should it not be within pa...

Re: Assign class to image - I'm missing something
Observations up to this point. In the XML editor, I don't see the bar showing on the left for the img class, like I do for p and other items. In my previous version of Flare, I do see the img bar on the left of the editor when the image is highlighted. In looking at the XML for the topic, I see that...

Re: Assign class to image - I'm missing something
If someone is using Flare 2018, could you please let me know if the Style Class field on image properties has a drop-down to select the style class? Or just a text filed to type in?
Thanks,
Bob
Thanks,
Bob

Assign class to image - I'm missing something
Ok, I feel terrible even asking this question as it is ridiculously basic. I have used Flare for several years now and I have always been to select the desired style class when inserting an image via the ribbon. Now, when the image is inserted, it is not honoring my style changes within my img class...

How to handle manual page break
My question may be a two part-er, if possibly there was a better way I should have done things from the beginning. Part A question would basically... Is it possible (and advisable) to setup Flare such that the headings you see in the editor when composing a topic match those in the generated output?...

Re: Style not applied to PDF output but shows in editor
I read through some other posts regarding styles and ended up setting the style sheet on the target. Once I did that, things appear to be working as I'd like.

Style not applied to PDF output but shows in editor
Hello, I am trying to determine why my heading styles do not appear to be updating in my PDF output but do appear to update in the editor as I'd expect. I have done the following checks in an effort to resolve this. - Editing the correct style sheet based on the medium I am working with (print) - Ve...

Re: Ghost entries in printed TOC (PDF output)
I wanted to pass on what the cause was here in the event anyone else runs in to this. Long story short, there was a single sentence in the middle of a paragraph of a given topic that was set as H6. I am not sure why it was set this way, but best I can tell, somebody used H6 as a way to place emphasi...

Ghost entries in printed TOC (PDF output)
I am running in to an odd issue that I have not been able to find a solution for. Any suggestions you may have would be very much appreciated. Some background info. - I am using TOC depth for heading styles - Styles for h1-h5 match their corresponding mc-heading-level property. i.e. h1 = h1, h2 = h2...

Re: Elements not honored in PDF output
I have found what I am doing that is causing my issue but am now curious how I can change this behavior. Basically, what is the correct way to do this for what I'm trying to accomplish. The issues seems to be with how I have my topics structured within the TOC. Here is a shot of my sample that I'm w...

Re: Elements not honored in PDF output
The setting on the advanced tab of the target is set. However, my mc-heading within the style that I am using for my print output is not off-set. h1=h1 h2=h2 h3=h3 h4=h4 etc. The thing that is so frustrating here is that it is not consistent in my printed output. Some of my h2s start on a new page w...

Re: Elements not honored in PDF output
Oops. I am incorrect again. My h2, which always start on a new page within the editor are not doing the same in the rendered PDF. I have verified that in the style I am using for printed output that the mc-heading stayle for h1, h2, h3, etc. all have matching values, meaning... h1 = h1 and h2 = h2, ...

Re: Elements not honored in PDF output
Missed this one...
PDF output is bumping up each heading (forgot what that was called, but configurable) and h2 is actually and h3 in PDF output.
All good.

Elements not honored in PDF output
I am running in to some issues with my PDF output and am not sure what I am missing here. 1) Headings are not following the same rules in the output PDF as are defined within my styles and how they show in the editor. For example, I have my h2 style such that it always starts at the top of a new pag...

Re: Pasting image removes my ordered list
I'm not sure if this will shed any light on things, but the steps I initially performed, the same steps that were called out by ChoccieMuffin work just fine if I perform them in a new topic. It only seems to not work in the topic I am trying to edit. Is there something I could look for within the XM...

Re: Pasting image removes my ordered list
Thank you for the replies, but neither of these suggestions work. The first reply indents too far and leaves a sub bullet (1. in from of my image). I can probably go in to the XML and fix this manually, but it seems like a vary clunky solution and something that the software should handle. The 2nd r...

Pasting image removes my ordered list
This seems very odd, so I'm hoping someone can tell me what I'm doing wrong here. I have performed this same action hundreds of times and it has always worked in the past. I am simply trying to insert an image within an ordered list. I have a list of steps that go from 1 to 27. I am attempting to pu...
