You are essentially correct! While I didn't add the topic twice, the fact that I am linking the book to the first topic does create a breadcrumb trail that duplicates - the breadcrumb trail points to the chapter and to the first topic, and shows the same exact breadcrumb trail. Alas, I do not have a Master Stylesheet. There is an icon for it in the Project tab, but it is greyed out and not active.
