Re: Flare 2017 r2 on which Windows 10 flavor?

Thanks, all. Choosing a Windows edition momentarily felt like choosing a Linux flavor. As with Linux, all Windows 10 versions kinda suck one way or the other...and no, I'm not advocating for MacOS. I'll never go back, now that I know how easy it is to run Flare on a VM. Sadly, my up...

Re: How to import existing Flare project into new Flare inst

Thanks, Nita, my issue was resolved in less than one minute!

(I did remember to unbind before zipping ... yet I know my "commit finger" will be itching like crazy. I'll have to soak it in G&Ts all week.)

How to import existing Flare project into new Flare instance

On my second Flare instance (on my personal laptop), I want to import my existing Flare project so I can experiment while I am on vacation. I won't have access to the source control repository while I am away, but I don't think I should need it (especially as I don't intend to check in any of the st...

Re: Flare 2017 r2 on which Windows 10 flavor?

Thanks. I'll get Home, since it is $100 cheaper, and I am literally using Windows only to run Flare!

I can't wait to get it all up and running. My new laptop feels nekkid.

Flare 2017 r2 on which Windows 10 flavor?

The Flare System Requirements page says Windows 10. So I hopped over to the MS website and was confronted with several 10 flavors from which to choose: Do I install Home or Pro? Anniversary Update or Creators Update? I just want to make sure that the version of Windows I install will let me push my ...

Re: Can I include content generated outside Flare in my TOC?

Thank you, that worked perfectly. Another method (the one I swore I'd seen but couldn't find again) was External Resources . Even though the API/descriptor *.htm files will be copied into the project, Flare lets me create a mapping to keep the files synchronized with changes on the file server (wher...

Can I include content generated outside Flare in my TOC?

I want to create a topic in my HTML Master TOC called the "Blah Blah API Guide," so that when users click that TOC entry, they are redirected to the URL that holds the parent html file to the auto-generated API files. Is this possible? I feel like I've seen this in Flare help before, but I...

Re: Default/global table display setting (fit to ...)?

Support sez that a global, change-all setting doesn't exist. In other words, I can't modify a table stylesheet to change the autofit width of all existing tables that use that style (e.g., from "fit to window" to "fit to contents"). A table's autofit properties are set when the t...

Default/global table display setting (fit to ...)?

I have a table style that defaults to "fit to window." I don't recall configuring that setting, so I can't figure out how to change the default to something else, such as "fit to contents." I have examined the style editor and the source, looking for an element that might control...

Re: How to create a style for wide code

That does seem rather persnickety. I'll create a new pre selector for tables and experiment.

One good outcome (outside tables) is I no longed need the prewide style, which just made the font size smaller.

Thanks very much for the input.

Re: How to create a style for wide code

Thanks--I just fixed my CSS.

I was hoping the change would address the issue I noticed where there is no scroll bar when pre is used in a table field. Alas, no.

How to create a style for wide code

I'm sure I can create this style fairly easily, if only I knew what to look up for guidance in the Flare guides and/or this forum. Some of my <pre> examples are really wide. Although I added an element to make the content wrap, I would rather add a horizontal scroll bar for the really long ou...

Re: SOLVED: How do I change the glossary term popup containe

Interestingly, I was unable to get that to work. I wonder if we're using different templates. I'm using Top Nav Advanced. I keep forgetting to look for the Madcap | <builtin> styles. The solution for my drop-down icon issue was to replace both the mc-closed-image and mc-open-image URLs with none. Fl...

Re: Can I specify a default glossary?

I thought of that, but get a little nervous about deleting things in Flare, since it will let you do so, even if there are dependencies. I am fairly certain I did not use a single term in the original glossary, so it should be fine to kill off. I'll export my project, do the delete, and see if anyth...

Re: SOLVED: How do I change the glossary term popup containe

This is really useful, thanks. But in which style did you make the change? I've looked at a.GlossaryPageTerm and scanned all the properties, searched my CSS via inline editor, and searched all the source code in the project for .MCTextPopup. Nada. Not even when I whittled the search term down to MCT...

Can I specify a default glossary?

Every time I want to link to a glossterm, I have to do an extra click to choose the glossary I created, instead of the "Glossary" that came with the templates in the project.

I don't see anywhere to specify a default inside the Flare interface, and a v12 doc/forum search came up empty.

Re: Modify size of company logo in TopNav Header?

Just to check, when you change the image, you are adding/updating the new image in the skin editor too? When you add a new image to the skin, it is actually embedded in the skin file (*.flskn). When you build the target, that embedded image is extracted from the skin, so it recreates the PNG/JPG fi...

Re: Modify size of company logo in TopNav Header?

This morning I tested output after pointing to an image with higher DPI. While the image looks less fuzzy, the logo is still taking up more room than I would like it to in the Menu, which means the menu icon appears to access guides instead of displaying my four sections in the menu. The only way I ...

Re: Modify size of company logo in TopNav Header?

Hi Nita, thanks for the response. I felt sure that disabling "Automatically resize low DPI images" would be the magic bullet, but alas, the logo is still big and fuzzy in the Header. It still looks normal in the footer. So odd.

SOLVED: Modify size of company logo in TopNav Header?

The HTML5 - Top Navigation skin points to the correct image (CompanyLogo.png) to use in the Header. The image size is 71x19 px, yet it appears to be at least 2.5 inches wide and 1.5 inches high, and it's very fuzzy. The same logo is used in the footer on Home.htm, where it appears normal sized and c...
