Re: Deleting topics sent for review
Thx CM, the options were My or All, and neither worked. In the end, Flare support didn't know either, and after a couple reboots and restarts, it resolved itself. Would have loved a more definitive reason why, but at least its working now .

Re: Conditional text applied automatically to page numbers?
To beat this a little further to death, I have a xref called "on page" which inserts " on page #": MadCap|xref.on-page { mc-format: ' on page {page}'; color: #000000; text-decoration: none; } I wanted it conditionaled for print automatically so I can quit having to flag it manual...

Re: Deleting topics sent for review
Hi Nita, I'm back in Flare after a few years away and now using Central. I set up my authors, selected my file, and shipped it off for review. I sent the wrong file and would like to cancel it, but my Sent Files window is empty, even though my topic says "has been sent". If I go to Inbox a...

Re: workflow with Markdown?
Please submit a feature request for this, I will too. Just started working with a major software company and their help source content is in crusty old Markdown docs. Really? Millions in revenue per year and that's the best you can do? Needless to say...have started mentioning Flare in my editing co...

Re: How to add new language to existing Lingo Project?
I have pinged a contact I made at Madcap from a MadWorld conference and he's checking into it. As far as I know, it is "by design" that you can't add a language if anything is "out for translation". B/c my recently-created project (b/c I had to add a language!) had only three exp...

Re: How to add new language to existing Lingo Project?
Hi Wayne, so if you merge in the bundle you created to send out, will it take everything out of "out for translation" status and then you can add a language? I have multiple docs in my project; I NEVER have everything translated, different docs are always in different states, so I can NEVE...

Can't paste Chinese, Hindi, Russian characters
Our China office has sent me corrections but when I try to paste the character into a segment target or translation memory entry I just get a "?". Tried applying different fonts in the source doc first, running it through Notepad, even grabbing the glyph from Google translate: no differenc...

Combined codes, how to stop
Lingo is trying to do favors, I guess, by combining codes as of the last version. For example, I have an open/close page number cross-ref tag set followed by a closing conditional tag. Lingo presents this as one bubble called mv:ct1 (would love to know what that stands for!). For Chinese, that cross...

Re: Custom fonts do not display in PDF output
The above solution of right-click and select Install instead of double-click to install was on the path to fixing this for me. 1. Remove custom fonts, including all sub-flavors (bold, italic, etc.) 2. Restart. 3. Right click font and select "install for all users". Plain "install"...

Conditional line height
Hey I'm back :-). I have an UL that I'd like to be a different line spacing only when printed for one of my conditions. For the English cond., it'd be just <ul>. For my Metric cond., it'd be <ul style="line-height: 13px;">. I can't wrap a cond. tag set around the opening UL tag. If I try t...

Lingo duplicates TMX entries
After a few years, my Lingo project wouldn't export anymore, just popped numerous cryptic errors about unreadable JPGs and PROPS (like, why are you trying to read a JPG anyway, Lingo?) and stalled out. Since it also wouldn't let me add a new language, I started a new project (that took a day!) and c...

Re: More problems than production
Hope it got better for you. My first suggestion: in Flare, make a condition called No-Lingo (or whatever you want to call it). Apply that to every table that's just numbers (sub-hint: make the headings snippets, then you can exclude the whole table but the snippets still get translated), to every to...

Re: Bundle Won't Merge
Something changed :). I've seen that error before too, usually b/c I updated my Lingo project off the Flare project after I sent the bundle out, then what comes back doesn't match. Try this: build a new bundle, then open two File Explorer windows and compare the problem topics in what you just made ...

Conditional italics?
For a simple inline code like <i>, is there a way to apply a condition so the italics (in this case) only applies when the condition calls for it? I tried right-clicking the end bracket in the XLM editor and applying a condition, and the condition applied within the <i> tag, so it LOOKS like it's ap...

Re: "Failed to convert to PDF Font:"
We paid $500 for two fonts (which look exactly like the free ones I wanted to use, but NOOOOOO), and I am getting this error, which is a show stopper because the substituted font prints as gibberish. Also on Win10. Anyone find resolution? I'm about to just go back to the free fonts and just not tell...

How to make Responsive Layout print right
I've got two years PDFing in Flare and am starting my first Responsive Layout (RL) project. My RL output is fine. But I still need a downloadable PDF for our equipment. In our docs, we have a bunch of what amounts to 2-row, 2-column tables. Top-left (#1) is an image and top-right (#2) is the list of...

Re: Styling pdf from responsive html5 layout
Hi Michelle, did you get any good tips and tricks on this question? I spent two years PDFing in Flare and now as I start a RL project, am having the same issue: my online stuff looks and works perfectly, but critical parts of my print docs fall apart, particularly for tables that keep an image, its ...

Re: Isn't two Divs with text and an image supposed to be eas
Hi Slopez, did you ever get this to work? I'm 2 years with PDFs in Flare and just starting Responsive Layout. I made a simple 3-cell RL div, where for Web the first two are each 50% (6) so they're side-by-side, and the 3rd is also 50% so it becomes the second row (it's a caption for the image in cel...

Re: Remove <a> underline in Print medium?
Thanks all for your suggestions. None were “it”, but they did get me to the answer! SteveS: The only occurrence of “text-decoration” (TD) is in the Print Medium section, which has only the definition for <a>. I moved it to the main Default section, deleted the Print section, set the Target to use De...

Remove <a> underline in Print medium?
This question has certainly been asked before, but I couldn't find an answer to my problem. I understand mediums and love them. I thought this would be an easy one, but after investing several hours on trial an error, I just can't figure it out. If I set "text-decoration" for the Default m...

Re: Integrating output with Zendesk (or similar)
Zendesk has an API for receiving data from Flare (probably Clean HTML), but I am just getting started on pinging my IT dept. and programmers to figure out if we can use it and how. Has anyone used the API? Successfully? And what about exporting our PDF library to ZD?
