Using a variable as a CHM link in a TOC ...
I have a TOC that is used for various CHM outputs. In this TOC there is a link to another external CHM that merges at runtime. When I generate the target I have to ensure that this CHM link is updated accordingly, because for each generated CHM the link is to a different external CHM. I thought it w...

Re: Flare 6.0 Failed to run command 'Preview' error
I had the same error and setting Primary resolved it. I also see that the TOC loses its Primary setting - or at least it set it to a different TOC.

Re: Condition Tag Not Working in One Topic
I agree that the tagging may be working against each other, but it should be easy to see from the code what's in the file. If necessary copy all and paste in again to see if that helps.

Re: Condition Tag Not Working in One Topic
Have you tagged this topic at file level in the Content Explorer? I suspect you have, then I suggest you open the file in the text editor and ensure that the tag is there and resembles the XML in one of those topics that is being excluded - maybe you can see some anomaly here? I'm not exactly sure w...

Re: Dont see General Tab when opening Server Admin
I had a similar problem on the Explorer start page. It gave me a: "Failed to run command page" error with an Exception: Invoke or BeginInvoke cannot be called on a control until the window handle has been created " After a few restarts it worked, but was told to reinstall and see if t...

Tagging a project in Flare
Amazingly enough I have managed to get Flare 7.01 to work with Subversion and it is flying. I have a project with about 4000 files, and I can easily check these in as necessary. As things are in Subversion, the files are assigned revision numbers that can have spaces, for example revision 1, 3,4, an...

How to use Apache Subversion...?
Can someone please give me a brief rundown on what I need to do to use use Apache Subversion as version control with Flare. Looking at the Apache and related sites there is a lot of detail, but nothing is clear. My questions are: 1. Do I need to install an Apache server? If so, what MS Windows OS do...

Re: Can my topic templates update my topics?
OK, but using master pages is by associating the master page with the target and/or ToC entries concerned. So if I have some specific topics that are not in any ToC, for example a set of 200 pop-ups that only show when links in other topics are clicked, then the content of the pop-ups cannot be dyna...

Can my topic templates update my topics?
If I create topics based upon a topic template, and I update the template, can I in any way get my topics to automatically update. For example if I apply a logo to the template and now all topics should have that logo? I can't see any XML code in the topic that indicates it is related to the templat...

Re: Linking accross projects
OK - output is CHM and Web-based. There is no problem in maintaining the same file structure on the deployed system, so relative paths will be fine. I was suspecting that was the approach, but maybe there was something easier - I'm not too sure if the Hyperlink dialog in Flare allows this sort of cr...

Linking accross projects
Hi,
Can someone point me somewhere as to how I link from a topic in Project A to another topic in Project B, where both A and B get included as imported projects in the TOC of a Master project?
Thanks
Robin

Re: Losing my styles in external CHMs...
Yes Kevin, I tried that, but when not selected the fonts were lost. I had to select it to get it render properly - it is working the reverse of what is expected. But that still doesn't solve the missing JS issues.

Re: Losing my styles in external CHMs...
Hi Pete - In all my links I don't have any reference to the CSS. What I did found is if on the Advanced settings of the HTML Help Target: - Patch stylesheet and image links for HTML Help printing - is selected - Stylesheet Medium is set to "non-print" then the topic that is being linked to...

Re: Losing my styles in external CHMs...
Hi Pete - Yes, we tried that. I also gave each CHM its own CSS and when looking at the source from the merge it was showing that unique CSS. I even tried to fool the system by using a single common CSS name accross all topics - no difference. What is is fdoing is defaulting to the Browser's default ...

Re: Losing my styles in external CHMs...
I should also add, it is clearly not finding the CSS in the child project, or for that matter any CSS in the master Flare project (which has a CSS with the same name as the child CSS). If I change the default font selection on Internet Explorer, then the unformatted CHM topic renders in that font. U...

Hi Kevin,
The settings was not selected in the targets, but to be sure I selected them and deselected ... but it made no difference. The styles are still not being correctly applied when linking topics accross CHMs.

Losing my styles in external CHMs...
Hi, I am experiencing problems with styles when linking to topics in external CHMs. For example, I have a MasterProject. In the TOC of the MasterProject I have included the ChildProject CHM. A topic in MasterProject, call it MasterTopic, links to a topic in ChildProject - call it ChildTopic. When th...

MAP IDs in merged .Net projects
I have three .NetHelp projects - Project Master, Project A and Project B. Each of these have topics with MAP IDs. I include Project A and Project B into the TOC of Project Master (as linked external projects). I compile Project Master and all appears OK as it shows content from Master, A and B in a ...

Now onto v4.2 and this still remains aquestion ... is there any way at all to modify the appearance of the .Net viewer . Flare 4 destroys my drop-down body settings
I have recently upgraded from 3.1 to 4. I noticed that my drop-down texts were all surrounded by a thick black frame. Went into the CSS editor in Flare and all looked OK. No "solid" border lines, they were all "not set". I then opened the CSS in Notepad, yes, under the same secti...

Re: WebHelp with PDF links
Just to add ...I managed to create ToC entries with file links without any problem, but what if I want to apply a MAP ID ...? I guess that means creating a topic and placing the file link in the topic itself. Would be nice if it could be done via the ToC entry.

WebHelp with PDF links
OK .... I want to try this. Create a webhelp that consists of nothing more than a ToC that links to external documents like PDFs and MS Word. Clicking on the ToC entry in the browser should open the document in the respective application. Any suggestions?
