Re: Exclude individual elements from search abstract
PSider — interesting, thanks. I've overcome my problem for the time being per my workaround, but it'd still be good to see if your hypothesis works out. If I find time to give it a proper work out I'll report back.

Re: Exclude individual elements from search abstract
Just in case this helps anyone else who stumbles across this thread with a similar issue: I had a similar problem to the OP. For many topics, I wanted to prevent the first paragraph of text from appearing in the search abstract. I found a workaround to achieve this; but it might not work across all ...

Re: Sequence contains more than one element
I've seen this error quite a few times now. Up until today my method of recovery was to rename the local project folder, clone the remote from the last commit+push, and then compare files to recreate the changes I'd made locally since the last commit+push. This gets old fast. I tried something else ...

Re: Javascript conflict between Flare search and hypothes.is
Anyone? I would love to get hypothes.is working with TopNav and I have a feeling that this is not an insurmountable problem. Can someone with more knowledge in this area confirm or deny, and Ideally post the required steps/code?

Re: Creating scrolling web pages with multiple topics
With DITA you can 'chunk' topics together as a single page in the output. It sounds like you want to do a a similar thing with Flare. As far as I know, the only way to do this is to put every topic you want to 'chunk' into snippets, and then include those snippets inside topics as required. Not as e...

Javascript conflict between Flare search and hypothes.is
I know little about Javascript, but I'm pretty sure that the problem I am having is down to a Javascript conflict. I am hoping someone can detail specific steps to resolve the problem. The problem is that I am trying to use the hypothes.is annotation service with my HTML5 TopNav output, but it break...

Re: X-refs: Sensible numbering of tables and figures?
Brilliant, thank you so much Daniel. Easy when you know how!
I probably should've found that myself, but sometimes one can't see the wood for the trees! I'm very grateful, thanks for taking the time to explain so clearly..

X-refs: Sensible numbering of tables and figures?
Hi folks This seems like a pretty standard thing, but I haven't found an answer by searching -- I hope you can help. I want to use auto-numbered table/figure captions, and have them number sensibly in both print and web output (mainly HTML5). This is so that I can cross-reference in the text to say ...

Re: Any clever way to compare 'now' with 'last published'?
Okay, I had a look at the links Nita posted. I pretty much get all of that, at least in outline. But I'm no further ahead in outstanding how to actually take advantage of it in my Flare projects in practice. Sure, I can create branches in Flare 11 - but how do I do this Git tagging business? Or is t...

Nita, Kellie - thank you both, I'll have a look at those ideas and see how I get on!

Re: Any clever way to compare 'now' with 'last published'?
Ah, interesting. I've been using Git source control, but haven't really experimented with branches yet. At the risk of sounding dumb, how do you work with this? I can see how comparing 'previous' and 'current' branches will help you identify differences that might need to be highlighted in version h...

Re: Any clever way to compare 'now' with 'last published'?
Interesting tool, thanks - I hadn't heard of Beyond Compare before. It does seem like an interesting option as a work-around for some situations. But I'm rather hoping there is a way to achieve my ends within the authoring environment, rather than another work-flow in another external tool with anot...

Any clever way to compare 'now' with 'last published'?
I'm looking for ways to make it easier to manage version history for multiple targets. Given single-sourcing, it is very easy for a significant change to affect multiple targets, but it seems hard to compile a version history for the target in a way that is reliably accurate and not too onerous. To ...

Re: Recommendations on managing revision history
I might be missing your point, but surely no special processes and effort are needed to archive and manage the content itself since source control does that for you? (Unless you're not using source control?) Managing version history of the content and/or targets though... this does seem to be tricky...

Re: How to manage version history for multiple targets?
As I understand it your suggestion is close to mine, with the difference each target has its own separate version history matrix within the 'version history' topic. On the one hand, I can see this has the advantage of being simpler and more intuitive at a glance. On the other hand, it'd often mean p...

How to manage version history for multiple targets?
I welcome any experiences and ideas on how best to manage version numbering and version histories in single-sourcing situations like this: Target A: PDF based on table of contents 1 Target B: PDF based on table of contents 2 Target C: PDF based on table of contents 3 Target D: HTML5 based on table o...

Did you ever figure this one out? I'd be interested to know how you solved it.
