Is there a way to view the ignored warnings in the log? Seems I cannot find it.

Re: Best Practices for Using a Termbase?
Update: I learned from an online presentation that variables should only be used in translations for things you don't translate, such as a part number.
I realize that that is an old post, but would anyone have a link to that presentation (or similar)? I'm trying to get my head around Lingo ...

Re: Styles not showing in style window
Argh, ignore the above, I've found the problem. There was an error in the .css file. I had it open in internal text editor view and there was no error message, but when I tried to open in the Stylesheet Editor, there was an error message.

Styles not showing in style window
Flare seems to have stopped loading my styles in the style window. It's strange because just earlier today it was working fine. Now it's not. For the block elements, it only shows a limited number of styles from the stylesheet. For the inline elements (when you right-click > span class) it doesn't ...

Inserting a reusable, editable component?
Hi, I was wondering if it is possible to create and insert a template component (like a table or a div) and then edit it in the actual topic? I know that there is a snippet feature where you can insert chunks of content, but it looks like you cannot edit the snippet in your topic unless you edit the ...

Re: Question about DIVs to control the <body> width
I set a max-width within the <body> tag (in css) to control the width of the text. I'm not sure if you can set it in Skins though.
body
{
etc etc...
max-width:1200px;
min-width:500px;
position:absolute;
text-align:left;
etc.etc..
}

Re: Apply condition to part of the drop-down
Yeh you can, though I think sometimes an extra empty <MadCap:dropDownHotspot> tag is added that causes the title to lose its formatting - is this the problem you're having? If so, try deleting this empty tag to see if it fixes it.

Re: ASCII and tranlsation
Hi BedfordWriter, thanks for the suggestion. I've never considered that but it's a good idea! I'm just really cautious with fonts as I dont think all browsers support or render it the same way, but that's another story... I've decided to stick with images for the bullets since I dont know enough ...

ASCII and tranlsation
Hi,
I am thinking of using some ASCII special characters as bullet list items. Does anybody know if they would cause problems when a document is translated? For example, the special character changes to another language or symbol.

Breadcrumb inconsistent - uses toc <label> & head <title>
Hi, I am trying to create a HTML5 output of the help but I've come across a problem.
In the generated output, I want the breadcrumb to use the TOC label instead of the help file's <title> text. What I get is, INCONSISTENT use of both titles in the breadcrumb.
Example:
You are here: Home > Level 1 ...

Yeh, I think that fixed it. I just checked the output and it doesn't hyphenate anymore. The fix is actually a hard find!! I would definitely not have found it otherwise. Thanks for sharing.

Re: HTML5: Move Search bar into the toolbar?
This.
If you use the target setting Exclude content not linked..., then skin.css won't be included in the output as Flare can't "see" the link. If you need to use this setting, make sure Flare can see it by adding a stylesheet link to skin.css in a topic.

Re: HTML5: Move Search bar into the toolbar?
I have tried Dave's javascript fix, and it worked for me. I was able to re-position the search bar by changing the skin.css file.
But for some reason, in the past few days this javascript code stopped working for me and the Search bar is moved back to the top-right corner. I say that the javascript ...

Yes it's possible to change the color of the search box. If you open the skin and go to Styles > Header > Search Input > Background, you can change the color to whatever you want.

Hi Nita,
this fixed it, thanks!
Another thread I found helpful: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=15494.
Fixed the problem of generating only help files that are referenced from the TOC.

Deleted folder keeps reappearing & files keep checking out
Hi,

HI Dave, thanks for your reply. Yes, my target is HTML5 so I'm glad to learn that only Default.htm is relevant for HTML5 output. I'll check with the developer re: whether links from application are CSH or direct. Thanks everyone for your input.

Re: Default.htm or Default_CSH.htm
Hi doc_guy, thanks. So it sounds like default_CSH.htm is used only when you have a help ID. I'm still not sure if being an in-app help is considered CSH though. Hmm..I guess I'll need to double check this. Thanks very much for your help though
