Re: Question mark in user's search causes search to fail
Thanks scap, especially for the link to the related issue. You are correct that this is a known issue. Madcap support responded today stating I found that the '?' at the end of a search phrase showing 0 results, is an existing bug in Tripane skin output. Regarding this issue, I have submitted a Bug ...

Question mark in user's search causes search to fail
Greetings. I am setting up micro content in my Flare project. I am using the installed version of Flare to generate tri-pane HTML and I am using the standard Madcap Search. My users sometimes type a question in the Search box such as "How do I move jobs to another production queue?" and ma...

Re: Table resizing in PDF output
Update: I found a hack that solves my immediate problem, but I hope there is a better CSS solution available. In my case, the failure to have long strings break in the first column was causing the fourth / last column to be so narrow the text did not display in an optimal way. I create a blank image...

Re: Table resizing in PDF output
Greetings. Was a solution found for this? Is there a bug reference I can can go vote up? I am having the same issue. I need to force wrap long property names in the first column of a table. I can make it work in HTML using CSS, but the PDF output ignores all of my attempts. I can insert a soft <br/>...

Re: Build failed: Compiler: /Content/Search.htm: Failed to parse template page file
You must be generating Top Nav help. I believe Search.htm is added to the /Content/ directory when you build the project. When I get these strange "unable to find the specified file" it is usually because the file path has become too long - I don't know how long that is. When I shorten the...

Re: Help Center-Aligning Text
What type of text are you applying the center style to (<p>, <h1> etc.)? I was able to apply style="text-align: center;" to a paragraph <p> and it behaved properly in the generated PDF. I know you don't want to mess with the stylesheet, but there might be an style defined there for '@meda ...

Re: Facing pages and cross references
@doloremipsum - worked perfectly! I noticed that "on facing page" was always generated on even pages with a reference to the next odd page (which would be the facing page). I was a worried the reverse would also be true, but "previous" was always used in those cases. Thus, by spe...

Re: Breadcrumb Prefix Text
I was able to do this in HTML side nav output by modifying properties of the MadCap|breadcrumbsProxy in the CSS. You can specify the image as a background and set the prefix text to blank. You will need to indent the text beyond the image width. If you go with an image that is taller than the text h...

Re: Facing pages and cross references
All of my end users view the PDFs as a single page layout. The phrase "on the facing page" makes no sense to them. We use left and right page layouts so the page number position and footer text can be varied and the document will look nice in the unlikely event a user actually prints it (a...

Re: "Failed to convert to PDF Font:"
Thank you for this post - it worked for me as well (Flare 2022). I had previously downloaded the font (Gotham Book and many variations) to c:\fonts (a directory I created) and then used the Fonts Control panel to add those to my Windows 10 system. They were then displayed in C:\Windows\Fonts. When I...

Add DIV ID to each TOC Node
I have a tri-pane project that is output as HTML5. When I right-click any node in the TOC / Contents and select Inspect , I can see the node is wrapped in a DIV. <div> <span class="label"> <a href="#ManageSystemPermissions.htm?TocPath=Administration%257CUsers%2520and%2520Groups%257C__...

This page uses the non standard property “zoom” (Firefox)
I have many Flare projects created using the Tripane HTML5 template (I believe that is what I used). When I visit one of these sites created with Flare, Firefox browser console reports This page uses the non standard property “zoom”. Consider using calc() in the relevant property values, or using “t...

Thank you laurieschu for posting a reply. I'm sorry to hear you are having this issue, but I'm glad to know I'm not alone. Confluence to Flare import - doc hyperlinks lost on reimport
Greetings. I have a Confluence wiki site with approximately 900 topics organized within many folders and subfolders. I set up an import using Madcap Flare and to my amazement, the import process was able to resolve the majority of cross-topic hyperlinks. Confluence remains the set of master document...

Flare deletes some files after re-importing from confluence
Greetings. I have a large Confluence site and I have used the Flare importer to bring it into a Flare project. I am leaving the file links in place and I often re-import files because the development staff prefer using Confluence to edit documents. The re-import process works nicely with one excepti...

I like using xrefs because Flare will update the reference for me if the first H1 in the referenced topic changes. <MadCap:xref href="admin_company.htm">Company Profile</MadCap:xref> I use xrefs within a "Related Topics" block at the end of each topic as well as in-line reference...

Re: Display URL for the current topic in HTML5 output?
Because you install HTML5 Help locally, I assume the URL is something like file:///C:/application/help/topic.html. You might be able to add some inline javascript to your master page. Something such as: <body> <p><b>[%=Primary.docTitle2%]</b></p> [b]<p id="urlLine"> <script>document.getEle...

Re: Is global search and project-level search possible?
I had a similar requirement. Readers often knew what they were searching for but did not know which document to find it in. I have a large number of Flare projects based on the HTML side nav. Users get into a specific document by going through a portal (also a side nav Flare project) and then clicki...

Re: HTML5 Output not displaying in iframe with Flare 2020
I have a side nav HTML project that I rebuilt today with Flare 2020. It displays fine within an iframe used within a support portal. What type of HTML output are you publishing? It's a long shot, but did you try clearing your browser's cache? If you manage the site, did you flush the site cache?
