Re: HTML5 Search Returns No Results; Spinner Persists
I continue to have this issue, albeit only on some words. Which to me just doesn't make sense. For example, if I search my HTML5 output for the work "checkpoint", the spinner just spins away merrily and no results ever eventuate. If I apply a filter, the search results come back immediatel...

Individual guide TOC in nav pane instead of complete doc set
Hi all, We produce our doc set in an HTML5 project using side nav. There are many individual guides that make up the doc set, and these are grouped by task. We have top level categories of Installation, Planning, Configuration, etc, and each guide is listed under an appropriate category. So when a u...

Thanks Dave, that's what I thought might be the case to be honest.
I'll put in a feature request.

Side nav navigation pane behavior - customizable?
I am wondering whether anyone knows of a way to make the selected item in a navigation pane (side nav template), the top item in the pane. The reason for this is that we have received usability feedback that the way the selected item is sometimes ending up at the bottom of the pane when the pane re-...

Re: Elasticsearch in 2021
I'm really interested in this topic too. Sorry I can't answer your question but thought I'd add my 2c worth as this is a feature we've been waiting on for some time. We can't use it due to it not supporting Search filters. Anyone got any news on when Elasticsearch is going to be better integrated in...

Re: Snippets in headings not resolving in search results
Thanks Dave. Will report it and see what they say. I'm using 2020R3 but I have just upgraded so will be interested to see if it is fixed in 2021R1.

Snippets in headings not resolving in search results
I use snippets for product names in headings to enable single sourcing of our topics across several products. Within the snippet I use conditions to identify when each product name should be used in line with the product condition set in the target. What I am finding, however, is that the snippet do...

Re: 2020 r2 CSS Missing
Hi Jeff,
You must be psychic! I actually has a recommendation from MadCap support to do the same thing. I had already identified the problematic style,as you suggested, and when I set that to Display: None in the main project CSS, the problem was solved.
Louise.

Re: 2020 r2 CSS Missing
I too have something weird happening with my stylesheets since upgrading to Flare 2020 r2. All of a sudden my Glossary terms in the output have the open/close icon next to them. In my style sheet and the image has been set to none. When I do an examination of the output HTML (F12 in Chrome), I can s...

Create Flare project file from output
Hi all, This is a bit of a long shot but I'm hoping someone might have an idea. We have lost a Flare project through a hard drive fail. We do have the published output on another machine though, and I am wondering if there is any way we can reverse engineer that into a new Flare project. Any and all...

Re: "Null" appearing in image thumbnail - Firefox
I think I found a solution to this - at least this worked for me. When I opened the folder containing my images in Windows Explorer, I found that some had a preview (thumbnail) of the image and some showed a standard windows image icon. The images that were returning the Null message were represente...

Re: Link two different topics to same search phrase
Sort of related to this - hoping the trusty brains trust can help with a hypothetical. If I have multiple pieces of micro content that contain some common words in their phrases, would more than one of them appear in the search results if a user enters some of the words that are common to multiple p...

Image maps not working
Hi all, I have created image maps on flow charts that I used on 5 different pages. The idea is that each page shows your current position in the flow, and clicking on an item in the flow chart takes you to that topic. The output is HTML5. Everything looks fine inside Flare - I've checked it and chec...

I thought people might be interested in my experience in dark/light themes now that we have had ours implemented for a number of months and undergone some usability testing. We found that when users were switching between light and dark themes, some were experiencing a flicker in their browser scree...

Re: HTML5: Sidenav Skin and Merged Project
Done. Just as a thought, could you merge your guides into one single Flare project? That's what we did for our doc set and the search therefore crawls across everything. I then created search filters to enable people to narrow their search results based on the type of task they're performing (eg, Pl...

Re: Nav pane TOC vs topic mini-toc
One last question on this thread that I'm hoping someone can help with. I have the menu proxy working now, but unlike a normal menu where you can have parent items and child items, and all the child items collapse into the parent item in the output, everything is remaining open in the output of my m...

Re: Nav pane TOC vs topic mini-toc
Hi Dave, Sorry for the delay - I'm only just back from vacation today. You were right - context sensitive was selected (by default). I turned it off and set the levels to 'all', and it worked. Now I need to work on the style of the output as its all bunched up as if in a table. From the look of the ...

Re: Nav pane TOC vs topic mini-toc
OK, tried doing this and I'm not getting anything listed. Here's exactly what I did: 1. Created a new topic - PDF_test 2. Created a new TOC - PDF_test_TOC 3. In the new topic, added a menu proxy that is calling the new toc. 4. In the toc, added a heading (Config) and dragged 3 PDFs into it as childr...

Re: Nav pane TOC vs topic mini-toc
Isn't that effectively like creating a page with links to the PDFs which would need updating every time the PDF name changes? Or could I just drag the PDFs into the TOC?

Re: Nav pane TOC vs topic mini-toc
Thanks Dave, I will try a menu proxy. Here's the problem I am trying to solve in case it prompts any other ideas. I have an HTML5 help system containing 230 guides. A large number of our users still want to be able to access the PDF output but not all have internet access, so I package the PDFs in t...
