Re: Overriding Maximum Image Size for Thumbnail Pop-ups
Thanks Dave and Alex, these comments helped me 4 years into the future! I want a "large" thumbnail with a larger popup and this worked, I tweaked it to 600px.

Re: Page layout doesn't get applied to an individual page
I have a Flare TOC for PDF output like this: - Title page (this is a one-page PDF) - Copyright page - TOC proxy page (to insert the contents list) - Link to another Flare TOC (to insert the actual topics) Most of the book has the same running header and footer, but I want the copyright page to have...

Re: Zip Project file is just Content folder?
Update. I used 7 Zip to view the project zip file and I do see the Project folder, so it's an issue with the unpacking not the zipping. Thinking it might be related to low disk space on my local drive. When I get more space I'll try unpacking again and either prove or disprove my theory. You'll nee...

I'm sorry--can you be more specific? I select the row and then go to which menu and submenu at the top? If I go to Style under Home , I do see th and td, but when I select th it doesn't get formatted as specified in my Tables stylesheet. You could also open up your table style, click on "Apply...

Afternoon, I'm currently running Madcap 2017 v. r2 and have encountered a rather frustrating problem: I am using a screen capture program 'Snagit' to capture screens and upload them into topics for our companies online help so it's HTML5. I am uploading my content to a single sharepoint. I've notic...

Re: How to manage projects for multiple software versions?
You can zip the entire project in a few clicks on the Flare UI: Project > Zip Project > Zip Project. It saves it in a PDF in about 5 minutes. I do this daily as a backup because I'm paranoid.pjtwriter wrote:I may use the Export Project feature to create a backup before I do anything too drastic.

Re: Grouping notes in a frame
You might want to read about the footnotes in the Flare Help. https://help.madcapsoftware.com/flare12/Content/Footnotes/Inserting_Footnotes.htm They usually go at the end of a page but can go at the end of a section, if you can make one page a section? You can also preview Print Layout in your XML ...

Hello and thanks to both of you for your answers ! @pacdam : I know exactly how it should be in the manual, but indeed I think there is some confusion on how to achieve it and through which ways it can be done with Flare. So it must be even worse for someone who is trying to understand confused que...

Sorry for the newbie questions... I'm looking for a quick way to add new elements such as div,p,h1,h2 etc in the XML Editor Obviously, I can do this manually in the text editor - In some cases (after a P and an h) doing Enter will add me a <p> and then I use the Syle window on the Home tab to chang...

As I write things keep popping up in my mind, like the need to add a term to a glossary or to reference a "see also". In order not be distracted I want to add a TBC (to be done aka TBC) - a note to myself that I need to add something later. The nature of the TBD is 1. I want to be able to...

Is the slowness in every topic? I noticed the decrease in performance with long topics that have a lot of tables. Do you have many topics open at the same time? Does it get better when you pause AV for a while? My big headache is also long topics, which generally have tables in them, and just resta...

I do have a table style applied to all tables but is there an option to set the table width to 100% within a table style? If there is, I am not aware of it or am just having a brain lapse. A problem I recall people reporting is that even if they got the snippet to resolve correctly in the table in generated output, for a reason they could not figure out, the widths of the columns of the snippet-sourced rows didn't have the same width as the columns of the "live rows" in the...

Re: Font changes to bold unexpectedly
A similar bug has even been reported in other applications (you can find posts about this in the Adobe forums). So it is a generic issue, and the primary cause seems to be the transparency attribute. Agreed--I've seen this bug with saving MS Word files to HTML to capture the images contained within...

I could be very wrong but I know that others have tried it and I think the consensus is that it doesn't work, although I don't know why. I think issues crept in with widths of columns, for example. Also, I'm not sure how one could structure the code of the table and the code of the snippets, which ...

Re: Shortcuts for Notes, warnings, etc
If they are a bit more complicated (e.g. div or table) then you can set them up as a snippet (acting as a template). Then you can insert the snippet (Ctrl + R) and right click | Convert to Text to add your text into the note or warning etc. I have my notes and warnings set up as snippets (since the...
