LEOP, List of Effective Pages and Revision History

The Air Transport Association (ATA) has a requirement for LEOP (list of effective pages) and a Revision History. This also warrants revision bars on the margins of pages. Refer to the ATA iSpec 2200: Information Standards for Aviation Maintenance manual for more information about document requiremen...

Revision bars

In div style, a left border can be set in Stylesheet Editor.
This style may be applied per Medium.
This can be applied to tables, too.
When needed, apply the div style to a paragraph or line of text.
Results vary based on how margins are set for a document.

In a page layout, if Decoration frame text does not print

I could not get Decoration frame text entered in F2 text editor to print. I complained about what I considered a bug, which it isn't. A person just has to follow the rules. What I didn't understand was that text in the editor defaults to paragraph <p> style set in the CSS stylesheet for the medium. ...

Re: How do I rotate text 90 degrees - vertical text

My solution was to create svg files with rotated text, then bring an svg image into each header cell in the table. Net result: being able to fit more table columns on pages. No code. I set the images to Conditional text "print-only" so they don't bloat embedded Help code I also must genera...

Re: Anyone know button name for the hamburger button

Flare2017r3 The original hamburger icon, or Navigation Slide Out Button is "ResponsiveMenuButton.png" buried in the HTML5 target output in \Skins\Default\Stylesheets\Images. The control for changing this icon is in Flare Project>Skins> "yourSkinName" >Styles>Tablet Medium or >Mob...

Re: Navigation Slide Out and Logo

I'm seeing controls for the placement of the Navigation Slide Out and Logo in Flare 2017r3 are in HTML5 Skin Editor Setup Navigation Pane, with options of Left or Right. There may be a size issue with hamburger icon and the logo. See Styles for Logo in Web Medium, then Navigation Slide Out Button in...

Re: Always open hamburger slide out?

I figured out how to replace the Navigation Slide Out Button (hamburger slide out) with another icon. I experimented with a magnifying glass and question mark (I swapped out the hamburger icon for a Menu icon, because no tooltip can be made with Flare 2017r3. The original hamburger icon is "Res...

Page imposition of a document for printing

I created a half-size instruction manual to fit product packaging, reusing legacy content. If planned well, page imposition can be automated. Imposition is placement of pages in a layout, limited by the size of the press which will be used for a print job. Pages may be upside down in relation to eac...

Page Layout Editor: Frame size only whole numbers

Flare 2017 r2, Page Layout Editor will accept only whole numbers in Frame Properties. Decimal numbers are rounded up or down to the nearest whole number.
Use whole numbers, but change among the specifications (such as pica, point or pixel) to get a more precise result than millimeter may allow.

Page Layout Editor: No guides? Use Frames and Snap

Page Layout Editor has no guides, so I make "decoration" Frames of particular sizes to serve as guides. I use "Snap frames to other display positions" to add frames in relation to guide Frames. This allows me to quickly create layouts conforming to Corporate Identity standards. W...

Overcoming Zooming limitations in Page Layout Editor

Page Layout Editor didn't allow me to see how close some items were to corporate-specified measurements.
Scale to 100%, Fit Width or Fit Height didn't give enough magnification.
However, Windows includes a tool called Magnifier that allowed me to look more closely, up to 1600%, if needed.

To avoid a topic crash, when applying a condition tag...

Name the Condition Tag as short a phrase or word as possible in the ConditionTagSet Editor.
Too long and there is a crash every time there is an attempt to apply the condition to a snippet, etc.
