Dave,
I also have an earlier FAR that does support regex. Someone suggested I upgrade so I did. I incorrectly assumed it also supported regex. Thanks for clarifying!

Re: Find and replace with regular expressions
That's the one I downloaded. It doesn't appear that it supports regular expressions. If someone thinks that isn't true, please let me know. I couldn't find a way to get it to use them...

Re: Find and replace with regular expressions
Hmm. This version of FAR (5.10), while seeming QUITE capable, fast, flexible, and efficient, doesn't support regular expressions. Unless I'm missing something. The task we are trying to accomplish definitely requires something with the power of regular expressions. Please let me know if I'm missing ...

Re: Find and replace with regular expressions
ChoccieMuffin, I'm probably missing something, but the latest version I could find was 2.02. This was searching on "FAR Find and Replace".
Thoughts welcome.

Re: Find and replace with regular expressions
It's been quite a journey, but I think I've found it. To do a multi-line regex in FAR, precede find code with (?s). Interestingly, this works in Flare as well. Flare's find (in the text editor itself) has the added advantage of showing you what it's matched with the regex. (FAR just does it, which i...

Found it:

There is an FAQ on multiline. It's a regex control, not a FAR UI control...
Best,

Re: Find and replace with regular expressions
Bob, I use FAR loads (in assorted scripts written by a former colleague so I'm no expert) and it DOES support multi-line stuff. There's an option Ignore CR LF chars . I just looked for that control, and haven't found it in version 2.01. I found a Line Breaks submenu in the Tools menu. It seems to b...

Re: Find and replace with regular expressions
I'm a fairly advanced regex user. One of my colleagues has encountered a situation where the H1 in every topic is enclosed in a table, with some of the tables containing two columns with an icon in the first column. He wants to remove the tables and end up with an image floated left, followed by the...

A Way to MT individual files
When I created my project, 3 files had malformed XML. I made note of them, and machine-translated the project. I updated the project, and the 3 new files need to be translated. I would very much like to send them off to Google and get them back translated, rather than going through each segment in e...

Does Lingo 9 use NMT with Google API?
I'm doing a machine translation using LIngo 9 and Google Translate API. I had done a previous translation with Bing, and the (Japanese) translator asked that we re-translate it using the Google NMT model. It appears that you can choose either model when a translation request is made. By default it n...

Can't get miniTOC to appear in CHM output
I"m attempting to insert a miniTOC in a topic, and can't seem to get it to show up in the output. I'm currently inserting it in only one topic, rather than a master page. When I preview using the target I'm using, it shows just fine, but in the actual output it doesn't appear. Thoughts? Thanks!...

Renaming Many Files
Hi there, I've inherited a project with a large number of topics. One of the issues with this project is that because of the folder structure and file names, the Windows pathnames may exceed the length limits imposed by Windows (depending on where you put it on a target drive) making the project unc...

Re: How can I exclude individual resources
So I've been looking at this because one of my clients is in the process of standardizing the documentation appearance of many products after a number o acquisitions. As a result, we have a template that is being developed in a project that contains style sheets, page layouts, variable sets, and oth...

Re: Multi-version migration
Thanks, Uwe. That's very interesting, and gives me some insight. FYI, Lingo 7 works fine with Flare 11, but it looks like my client is going to upgrade my software. We will be working with two translated languages, so it may not have been an issue, but it's good to know I can use multiple languages ...

Re: Translated Flare Project - want to move forward
In fact, after looking more closely at the TMX, I realized that the source language was "English (United States". As soon as I changed it, I was able to import a current version (many versions past the TMX) and apply the TMX to it. So yes, the language code was wrong. I may also have had t...

Re: Translated Flare Project - want to move forward
It looks like I just sent the Flare project.
Is there a path to using the existing translation? I've tried applying the TMX to a newer project, and it didn't appear to do anything (but at least it took a long time!)

Translated Flare Project - want to move forward
I have a Flare project that has been translated. When I open it in Flare, I see the translation. I also have the associated TMX file. I don't appear to have the Lingo project. I am having trouble seeing a way to get the Flare project into Lingo. I'm probably missing something... Thanks for any help ...

Multi-version migration
Hi there, I've done a lot of work for a company that embraced translation at one point, but it fell out of favor. They are now interested in resurrecting it on some level. Consequently, I have Lingo 7, but Flare 11. I have newer versions of several Flare projects (many versions ahead of the translat...

Re: Page Layout for Last Page in Document
I've just managed to do this successfully. It's a bit of a headstand to get it to work, but it does. My technique relies on the fact that I'm not using a TOC in this document, as there is a TOC entry for the last page content that uses a different page layout. I'm sure there are ways to prevent such...

Re: Compute Statistics slow for you?
Thanks, Kellie. I believe I tried this on earlier Lingo versions and had similar results. It has two progress bars. I let it go for about an hour and it was maybe 20-25% through the "Copying" process. I believe the last time I tried it, it took hours...

Compute Statistics slow for you?
I'm using Lingo 6 as the primary Flare author and coordinator for a couple of translators, more to come.
Compute Statistics seems to take an inordinate amount of time for a fairly large project... 600 topics or so. Has anyone else noticed this issue?
