Re: Side navigation TOC behaviour inconsistent
I'm having the same issue and just opened a support ticket. Apparently this is the behavior in top navigation layout, where the 1st-level heading only opens up the menu and doesn't link anywhere. What's weird is that the TOC pane in a wide window displays as expected. It's only the tree slide-out me...

Re: Document title in side navigation skin
I have implemented Dave Lee's approach (thank you, Dave!!), but with a couple of changes: - I kept the logo (didn't set it to not display) - I used 'appendTo' instead of 'prependTo' so that the document title displays to the right of the logo This works beautifully. Of course, you also need to add a...

Re: The free Kaizen Plugin for Flare
I can't thank you enough for this plugin. What a life saver! I am in the process of migrating 3 extensive product manuals from markdown to Flare, and it's just a breeze with your plugin. I can even replace tags on a page to apply different formatting. The content comes over so clean and beautiful, t...

Re: Table problem: each row starts new page
Thank you for the pointer, @cdschroeder. I checked, but that wasn't the culprit. It turned out that the issue was caused by merged cells across multiple rows. I had to unmerge and use a different table style for the layout.

Table problem: each row starts new page
Hi there, all of our tables print fine to PDF, but one is causing me trouble. It starts each row on a new page until the remainder of the table is short enough to fit on a single page. I have played with the print settings in both the table stylesheet and the regular stylesheet extensively, to no av...

Generate Flare XHTML from doc comments in source code
Hi, has anyone ever tried to generate Flare-compatible XHTML from API documentation comments in source code? We have such comments and are currently injecting them in HTML output via DocBook, but our main manual is now in Flare, and we are wondering if it is possible to adjust the flow to generate X...

Stylesheet/display issue in CHM output
Hi, I am having an interesting display issue with lists in CHM output. Everything publishes fine to HTML5, but in the CHM output, text in lists appears much smaller than regular body text (except if a list item has multiple paragraphs, in which case each paragraph has its own <p> tag). I am wonderin...

Re: Flare 9 HTML5 and TocPath in page links
Hi, after upgrading to the latest 2017 r2 release, this workaround is no longer working. When I asked MadCap support about this, I got the following response: The string that existed in the previous version is no longer available in r2. We are not able to provide a new workaround for this behavior, ...

Re: Mangled fonts in PDF output: how to fix?
For what it's worth, this also happened to me on Windows 10, and the steps in the link above resolved it. Not great since this means I need to change my display settings each time before I generate a PDF, but at least it's a solution.

Importing HTML5 project?
Hi, does anyone here have experience with importing .adoc (Asciidoc) files or their generated HTML output into Flare? I have read through the Import Guide, and the HTML import seems to be working fine. I understand that it keeps the folder structure of the imported files and, when you select to impo...

Re: Unable to build
Thanks for your response, roboHAL! We ended up rolling back the project. We couldn't get it to work any other way. We suspect that the mess happened because of changes made outside of Flare, but we can't be sure. Hopefully we won't run into any other issues going forward.

Re: Unable to build
I don't have an answer ( ), but we have the same problem. All of a sudden we can no longer successfully build our HTML5 Tripane output. This happens in one project only, but it is reproducible on different machines. The build fails with error ID 10086 (Build failed: Object reference not set to...

How to handle shared FrameMaker files
Hi, I am in the process of importing our content from FrameMaker 11 to Flare 12. We have several FM books that share some of the same files. For example we have a user guide and an express user guide. The latter only includes a subset of the chapters/files included in the user guide, but it also inc...
