Compiling and publishing have long been separate processes in help development tools. Separating the two is an industry standard and isn't unique to Flare.
If you share your build output directory with users, you're giving them a lot of unnecessary files. The publishing process assembles only the ...

Re: image not working in Help
I'm curious: Did you import the image to the project, or did you use Flare 7's new copy/paste feature? Try (1) deleting the image from the topic; (2) re-importing the image into Resources\Images; and then (3) re-inserting the image into the topic.

Re: TOC in PDF placing each TOC entry on its own page
I followed the advice of the "Limiting printed contents depth" posting and set my H3 (and H3.Heading3 subclass) mc-heading-level property to 0 (I left H1s set to 1 and H2s set to 2). This is the only change I made to the .css file.

Hi again,

Hi there,
I'll give the simple part first. For print, you can continue to use points for font size. You can use inches for page margins and points for paragraph margins, just as you might use in a Word document.

Re: Mediums vs. separate stylesheets for single sourcing
Bonnie, I'm getting the same result from Flare's help topics, too, but not from my own projects. It's bizarre.
I thought that maybe this was browser-specific, so I tested topics from three of my own projects in four different browsers. They all print perfectly, without splitting the page. They ...

Hi, Nita! I hope all is well with you.
I have always used only style sheet media. I have never used separate style sheets. If a Flare author prefers a separate style sheet, I support that author. Whatever works is what's important.

Footnote issues in Flare 4
Good morning, all:

Re: Font size in Related Topics pop-up box
Lisa, I'm not sure what you mean by "anything odd." I haven't set anything for <html>, and <h1> just has routine stuff: font color, size, and weight, a bottom border, and some bottom margin and padding settings.
The problem is global to the project. Every time I click the Related Topics link, the ...

Re: Font size in Related Topics pop-up box
To date, I have not been able to resolve a nagging problem in this one project: the font size of the topics listed in the Related Topics popup is so small that the names are illegible.

I tried editing the font size for the helpControlMenuItem yesterday, and it had no effect. I have even blown the size up to 150%, but the size still hasn't budged.LTinker68 wrote:Related Topics doesn't use popup and popupBody. Re: Font size in Related Topics pop-up box
In my project output, if I click on the Related Topics link, the topics in the popup window appear in a very small font. They're hard to read. I have already tried popupBody, and it doesn't change the font size of the listed topics.

Font size in Related Topics pop-up box
I know that I have seen plenty of posts on the subject of changing aspects of the Related Topics popup box, but I can find nothing that specifically addresses the font size. What style changes the font size in this box? I thought that Popup or Popup Body might fix the problem, but they don't.

Nice stuff to know, Lisa. Thank you. I sometimes use the built-in text editor to edit the styles, too, but I just happened to have DW open.

Re: Mini TOC proxy
If you have pseudo classes, the order they're listed in the stylesheet is very important - it should be link, visited, hover, focus.
Dave, thanks for bringing up the order. That was the problem.

Setting the colour for a.MCMiniTocLink should work, I tried it on a blank project on my PC and it works fine.

Well, as evident from previous threads, I had no luck with applying a list style to my mini TOC links. Now I'm simply trying to change the color of the links, and I can't seem to get that to work, either.

I've never actually tried using list style properties with div tags, only with list tags (ol, ul). Can you actually add bullets to div tags using the list properties in this way?

it looks like it should work, so i would check to make sure you spelled MCMiniTocLink correctly and that the stylesheet is linked to the topics correctly. Are you using a master page for the minitoc? make sure that has the stylesheet too.

Re: Mini TOC proxy
You should be able to do that by adding a list style to minitocproxy in the main stylesheet. Set the list-style-type to whichever bullet type you need (for example, solid circles are the "disc" type). That should do it.
