Re: Is the relationships proxy the problem?
Thank you, ChoccieMuffin. The answer was right there. The offenders were MadCap relationshipsHeading and relationshipsItem. The former was set to 14 pts and the latter to 12 pts. But the body text was set to 10 pts., hence the crazy mismatch. The Forum comes through again!

Is the relationships proxy the problem?
I've been trying to figure this one out for a long time, but I just can't. I have two help system; in one, the relationships proxy produces presentable "See also" references at the bottom of the page. In the case of the system pictured in the attachment, the "Related Information" bit at the bottom ...

But you can change the size of the tab. Which I did. And it works. Sorry for the hasty response.

Re: Changing the name of the "Contents" tab in tripane help.
Thanks for the pointer, Dave. I didn't think about the target. But setting the language to French (Canada) there defeats Flare in the same way. It just decides to leave the Contents tab blank. I guess I'd call that a bug or an oversight since there really should be a provision for manually changing ...

Changing the name of the "Contents" tab in tripane help.
I've been tasked with converting a French-language user guide into Flare help. I don't want to get too fancy with converting the skin to reflect the language, but I would like to change the Contents tab to Table des matières . I've looked into setting the language to French for the project. When I ...

Sorry, MadCap help tells you how to do this. The option is on the Advanced tab of the HTML target.

Removing the MadCap advertisement from output help
My older projects do not have the advertisement/link appearing at the bottom right of all help pages in the new project I'm working on, so we must have removed this thing in the other projects. My new one has the ad showing up, and now I can't find how (or remember how) to get rid of it. Can anybody ...

Re: Getting rid of the "Collapse/Expand" icon in top/side na
It would be great if I could get rid of it for all times, Dave, so please bear with me. Attached is the Setup page of the skin. Not a lot of settings that I can see, certainly nothing having to do with toolbars.

Getting rid of the "Collapse/Expand" icon in top/side nav
The same little doodad shows up in tripane help. MadCap Support told me where to turn it off, and the switch is under the Topics group in the Styles section of the skin: Topic Button > Expand All > Layout > Display . There is no such grouping in the side and top navigation skins. However, I thought ...

Re: Getting rid of the submenu in top navigation output
To answer your question, yes, I do want to remove that submenu. It's extraneous, and I'm going to opine that it is the reason the output top nav help file (when zipped) has leaped from 11,000 KB to 60,000 KB! Which is unmanageable by my development team, of course.

Re: Getting rid of the submenu in top navigation output
That's great info if indeed that's the problem. Where do I find this template page? I'm new to 2021 and not up on all the changes (some of which have unintended consequences for the user, apparently).

Getting rid of the submenu in top navigation output
I've encountered an issue after upgrading from Flare 2017 to 2021. My top navigation help output in 2021 has an extraneous submenu that didn't appear in output from 2017. I don't know why the submenu is appearing or how to turn it off. If anybody knows where this is coming from (probably the skin ...

Importing a Flare help system into Flare
Is there any way to import a Flare help system into Flare and have it generate a genuine Flare help project that will output the same exact Flare help system that was imported in the first place? I tried importing the help system using the Import File Sets method--no dice, as I expected. If there is ...

Re: Converting a Word doc to a Flare project
Yes, I'm using the Import Wizard, and I agree: it should be working. I'm using Word 2013 and Flare 2017 r2. No reason I should be getting the lousy message, which in a bogus manner puts the blame on Word. Would you suggest getting in touch with Support?

Converting a Word doc to a Flare project
I've been trying to convert a Word doc to a Flare project but get the error message "The document can not be imported to Flare unless Microsoft Word can save the file in XML format." Word does purport to be able to save files in XML format. I've done it a couple of times. But bringing such a file ...

Re: CSH - Developer using alias.xml but. . . .
Thank you for that information about how the alias editor works, Dave. I'll remember that. Still, I didn't know that additional header files in the project could result in such crazy and catastrophic results as I've described. I would suggest that this issue get a red-letter call-out in Flare online ...

Re: CSH - Developer using alias.xml but. . . .
So I'm replying to my own post. That's because I solved the problem through a day-long effort. The issue was competing alias and header files in the project. Even though I told Flare which header file to use with the alias file, it went haywire during a build, apparently conflating the contents of ...

CSH - Developer using alias.xml but. . . .
There may be many more things wrong with my project than the upshot of what I'm stating implies, but here is the case: My developer uses the generated alias.xml file to hook help topics to screens within our product. This has been working, more or less, right along, but not recently. I had MadCap ...

Hyperlinking to XSD document
Is there a way to hyperlink to a document in XSD format? Within Flare, the application asks if you want to use the default Microsoft application, and when you click OK, the document opens up in Microsoft Visual Studio. But nothing happens when you click the link in compiled help. You do get an error ...

Positioning the logo in a skin
Hello. A client asked that we move the position of the logo in the skin so that when help is generated, the logo will appear flush left. The default position of the logo in compiled help is, oh, say, three-quarters of an inch from the left side. I looked in the Logo section of the Styles tab in the ...

Relationships proxies - changing hyperlink styles
Hello. We've set up a relationship table and proxies in our help project. We'd like the "See also" hyperlinks to match the other hyperlinks in the project; currently, they have no underlining. I can't figure out from all the settings in the stylesheet which ones govern the "See also" hyperlinks ...
