In your original post, did you put the frame around the image in Snagit? If so, I think your images will look better if you frame them first (you can also create a minor 3d framing effect), and then apply the drop shadow. It looks like you're applying the drop shadow and then framing the image.

Re: Need to use different URL for print vs web
Don't know if there's an efficient way to do what you want. However, here's a time consuming way to do it: you can create a condition tag for the links and unbind them (see below), then create different links in the pdf using Acrobat Pro. From Flare Help "Let's say you are creating both online ...

Re: LaTeX to Flare, Equations and MathML
Hi Matt:
This doesn't answer your question--but just wanted you to know how we use LaTex at my company. Our research dept converts LaTex to pdfs. I create links on Flare pages which allow users to download the separate pdfs.

Re: HTML5 Output with Swf file will not load
Hi: I've got multiple .swf files in my HTML5 projects. Usually I open a separate HTML file with the swf in it. Everything plays fine. I also have one or two .swf files that run directly in Flare, and these play without problems. In your post, you mention "video"--do your .swf files include...

This worked--but only when I edited a pre-existing Running Head variable entry. When I tried creating one from scratch it didn't work.

Re: Running Head Variables not working in MS Word
Margaret: Thanks very much. You are correct--when I switched to a pure H1 style, the running head work. I consider this a bug. I'm not sure what you mean by:" If you use master pages you can manually update the header reference to include the style name with the subclass." I am using Maste...

Running Head Variables not working in MS Word
I'm trying to get the H1 variable to print as a running head in Word. When I set the target to pdf, the running head works; but when I set the target to Word, the running head either doesn't print or displays an error. Does anyone know of a setting that can get the running head to work in Word? Than...

Re: Object reference not set to an instance of an object
I had the same problem many months ago. I solved the problem; but sorry--I don't remember exactly how I solved it--however, I think I traced down all error messages and discovered that I had links to graphics or pages that didn't exist.

Sorry--thought you were using Captivate. Here's an example of the type of javascript I used to create a link to the HTML that loads my Flash movies: <a href="#" OnClick="javascript:newwindow=window.open('LoginTutorial.htm','name','height=650,width=1065,resizable=yes,scrollbars=yes,too...

Re: Problems running SWF in final build
Just a few notes--which I hope won't confuse things more: As far as I remember, your .swf files were created in Captivate. I'm not sure how your swf files were created in Captivate--nor what version in Captivate--but all of my swf files also include a "skin" file as well. For instance: I w...

Re: Problems running SWF in final build
I do a lot of work with Flash in my help sites. I think I've seen this problem before--and it was caused by an inconsistency of names (including upper and lower case). Make sure that the name of each saved movie is exacly the same as it is in every html file that utilizes the movie. Note that in the...

Flare 5 is messing up my styles
After trying some new features in Flare 5 (topic tool bar, for instance) , I've discovered that my link styles don't work any more. The colors are incorrect, and all links are underlined --despite my .css that specifies no underlines. After investigating, I have found that if I remove the <link href...

Re: Opinions on XMLSPY?
My company has a site license for XML Spy. It's a great program. I use it all the time to edit the .htm pages Flare creates and edit the style sheets that Flare creates. It provides line numbers--so it's easy to track down errors that Flare flags in your files, and you can easily flip from XMLSpy's ...

Re: page layout issue-no bug
I don't believe this is a bug. What you are seeing is pixel-math in action. The same will happen in Photoshop: Paste a 2 x2 inch 300ppi image into a 72ppi image, and the 300 ppi image will be larger in the 72ppi file. The application must do something with all those pixels crammed into the 300ppi im...

Just want to chime in here about Captivate... We're using Captivate 3 and very happy with it. We have many animated tutorials in our online help--all created in Captivate. Images won't Reset--Bug?
Hi: I'm not sure if this is a bug, or it's being caused by a setting within Flare: I have a WebHelp project that I published to PDF. When I returned to my project, many of the images were resized. When I right-click and choose Reset, many of the images won't reset to their original sizes. I tried de...

Re: Adding Captivate Movies and controling skins and stuff
I do this all the time. In Captivate--publish as a Flash swf ,and chose the Export as HTML option. Make sure that you put all published elements in the same folder in Flare--including the .js file. You can open up a new window by adding the code below to the Flare code on the page that you want the ...

Re: Can Mimic output a FLV file?
This might be helpful:
If you have a copy of Adobe Flash (you may need the Pro version), you can create an HTML page that plays the FLV. You can then place this HTML page in your Flare WebHelp project, or create a link in your project that opens this page with the FLV movie.

I've been working several days with this mini toc problem in Flare 4, and I now have pages with miniTocs created with different fonts, different colors and different link attributes all on one page.
