Re: Snippet not selectable in toolbar

Another thing to try: Pick any paragraph, right click on the p structure bar at the side and click Create Snippet. Add the snippet in the default location (you can delete it later). Then click somewhere else in the topic and see if you can add the snippet with CTRL+R or any other method. I tried th...

Re: Snippet not selectable in toolbar

I've installed a trial version of Flare on another PC and come up with the same problem. It's as if Flare doesn't realise that a snippet has been created.

(This is not in reply to the post above.)

Re: Snippet not selectable in toolbar

Thanks for the reply. I tried Ctrl-R but nothing happened. It's interesting to note that the Single Source group in the Home ribbon is also greyed out.

Snippet not selectable in toolbar

I've created a snippet (first time ever) and saved it. I've then entered a topic, chosen where I want the snippet to appear, clicked on Insert and moved to the Single Source section, where I found the Snippet item to be unselectable (i.e. shaded). I would assume that to be the case if there were no ...

I already have it set at 150%, but Flare ignores it.

Re: Change text size in Flare's interface

Thanks. I didn't see that. It's file-specific, which is better than nothing, but ideally I would like to have all the screen text (labels, etc) larger. I guess that's not achievable without changing the screen resolution, which I'm loathe to do. Maybe Madcap provides a switch to set when loading. Pr...

Re: Change text size in Flare's interface

Thanks for the reply, ChoccieMuffin. I don't use the XML editor, just the text editor. Also, I want all text on screen to be larger. My eyesight ain't what it used to be, I' m afraid.

Change text size in Flare's interface

There does not appear to be an option in Options to change the size of the interface text. Is that setting provided elsewhere?

Re: Error message when previewing topics in Flare 2019 R2

"Object reference not set to an instance of an object" is usually caused by a programming error or corrupt data. It needs to be reported to Madcap.

Re: Need to revert to Flare 2019 R1

Madcap Support says I shouldn't have had those issues. They recommend I deactivate R2, remove it, and reinstall the previous release. After my project is delivered, they will work through the R2 problem with me.

I didn't receive an email either. I only knew about R2 when I launched Flare and a popup told me.

Need to revert to Flare 2019 R1

Just installed R2 and after compiling I've lost some styles in the output. I notice that the CSS is about 10 times longer than before. Something isn't right, but I'm in the middle of changes for a client and I can't have a delay, so I need to go back to the previous version.

Re: Side Menu: Expanding font sizes

MainStyles.css determines the body style font. It affects li. This is what comes into play when a topic is selected. Changing the skin to accord with MainStyles.css provides a consistent menu style at all levels. I'm not a regular user of Flare, and assumed the Skin settings would apply regardless. ...

Re: Side Menu: Expanding font sizes

Okay, point taken. I'm thinking that the difference is probably because those styles may differ between the home page and the topics.

Side Menu: Expanding font sizes

Straight out of the box where all fonts are 1em and only the selected item is bolded. This is the start of the side menu panel from the home page: https://www.perisys.com/images/side_menu_fonts_4.jpg When I select a topic, not only is the selected menu item bolded, but the font size for it and all ...

Thanks. This is a conversion from a top nav project and I'd completely forgotten about menu levels. Much appreciated.

Side Menu: Space between menu and text

Previously, with top nav, the topic appeared with a reasonable amount of white space on the left. With side panel, this margin has disappeared, causing the text to "crowd" the side menu.

Is it possible to rectify this, even if it's reduced in width?

Side Menu: Font bolding

When a menu item is selected, its title is bolded in the side menu, making it appear larger. Is it possible to use a different coloured font rather than bolding instead?
