Re: Upgrade to 2019 R2 problems

I'm seeing several concerning posts here about R2. If a past release was too wonky (as this one seems), did MadCap release a patched version?

Re: dropDownHead vs dropDownHotspot

FIXED (see the bottom for the solution) So this seems random. I use a lot of dropdowns for my online help (see my post above ^^^ ). All is working as expected in the online help, but not in ONE chapter of the PDF. In my PDF output, I have a chapter with four dropdowns that have multiple sub-dropdow...

Word Output - Top/Bottom margins don't match PageLayout

Surprised I didn't find this problem on here, so maybe I've set up something odd in my project. Anyway. PDF output is fine. Word output creates a top page margin of 2.04" and a bottom margin of 1.86". In Frame, the PageLayout margin is 1" top/bottom. The workaround is simple, and in t...

Re: Capture cross-hairs are off (inaccurate)

The following thread goes through possible workarounds. It seems to be a problem with the zoom function of the laptop (if you have your default view zoomed up to, like, 125%):

Re: Question about creating multi-level drop-downs

I have a lot of nested dropdowns, so I'll discuss what I've done. There could be better ways, but this works for me, so I haven't looked for any other methods :) As you noticed, the "Move" option simply isn't available for dropdowns. As with any nesting, the easiest way is to create the ch...

Re: IT'S BAAAACK: What's wrong with my fade in/out code?

Well, still confused. To diagnose, I copied my "backtotop" elements over to the default side nav template project I created (in theory, this is baseline side navigation). The "fade in" still didn't work. To be clear, the "back to top" element does work if I keep it disp...

Re: IT'S BAAAACK: What's wrong with my fade in/out code?

Thanks, Dave. You were right about the CSS/fixed position problem and that's now fixed. As for the fade in/out, my custom stylesheet doesn't have a div.body-container defined in it. I see that the sidenav stylesheet has "html.home-topic .body-container." I linked the sidenav CSS to my own,...

Re: IT'S BAAAACK: What's wrong with my fade in/out code?

Upgraded to r2018 and am trying out the new side navigation skin. Had some problems with the skin I've worked through, but the "back to top" image and fade in/out code stopped working. First, the FIXED position isn't fixing it in the correct place (see the code in the original post above)....

Tested it out and it works. Be sure to go to Window > Save Layout.

Now if Flare could remember the order my open project files....

Re: Capture button is off the screen--how do I access it?

Sigh. April 2018 and no updates to Capture. Kinda disgraceful. The newest SnagIt is pretty cool, but I sure wish MadCap would update Capture. Anyway, here's an FYI for people using a 2nd monitor with their laptop. When I have a second monitor, the 125% resolution of my laptop monitor affects the sec...

Re: Wrapped SMALL Words in PDF Tables

Huzzah. Started playing with padding. When I built my css I put the "cell" padding inside the table's paragraph tags (p.tableBody, p.tableHeader). So I removed it from the paragraph tags and put it in the th, td tags. And it worked!! No more weird word wrapping. I assume this was a "r...

Re: Wrapped SMALL Words in PDF Tables

Ha, the nowrap gives me this (I added it to both th and td as the error happens in both types of cells). Also tried word-break: keep-all at the th, td level without success.

Thanks for the tip, Alex. Unfortunately it didn't work at the table level (haven't tried it at the cell level). I also changed orientation to landscape because I have a bunch of wide tables and realized (regardless of this bug (and I'm assuming it's a bug as it's only the last character or two in a ...

FIXED: Wrapped SMALL Words in PDF Tables

FIXED . Need to put "cell" padding in the th, td tags NOT the p.tableBody, p.tableHeader tags. Hi. I've scoured the forum and help and haven't found anything quite like my problem. When I create a PDF, some small words in the table get wrapped even if there's plenty of space in the table ...

Re: Use z-index to get thumbnail popup image to top?

Thanks, devjoe, your suggestion led me down the path to victory. The "problem" turned out to be that element.style was overwriting it. I have no idea where the element.style values are coming from, but someone on another forum said to use !important in the css to overwrite it. Tried that a...

SOLVED: Use z-index to get thumbnail popup image to top?

Hi. SOLVED: See the post below from 08/15/2017. I have a FIXED toolbar in my HTML 5 Top Nav help. Works fine. I use a lot of thumbnail popups for my screenshots. What I'd like to do is tell the full-size image to be on top (to cover the toolbar) after the thumbnail is clicked. The following example ...

dropDownHead + page-break-before = no 3rd-level PDF bookmark

Hi. I use dropdowns extensively in my HTML5 Top Nav output. I've set up PDF output that works great UNTIL I use "page-break-before: always;". When I use page-break, the 3rd-level headings disappear from the PDF's bookmark pane (which I always show in my PDFs). The 3rd-level headings DO app...

Adsy, Do you need to use Tripane? I started with HTML5 Tripane because it was what I was used to using. But after coming to grips with my pre-existing condition (staying with what I found comfortable), I switched to Top Nav. When you create a project in Top Nav you'll get a bigger centered search ba...

Re: Search submit button appearing above search bar

Curious to see the answer. This happened to me, except the search button appeared partially below the search bar. I think the reason was because something in my css was causing all pages to have a width smaller than the width set in the skin. I tested using the default stylesheet and the search butt...

Re: SOLVED: How do I change the glossary term popup containe

To get rid of the arrow, it's done in the following style. You might have to add it to your css using an external text editor. I only use a text editor for my css so I don't know if there's a way to add a style using Flare's Stylesheet Editor.

Code: Select all

.MCTextPopupArrow
{
	display: none;
}
