Change to UI?
Hi all, I haven't used Flare for a year - client been very quiet! Today, I updated from 2021 r3 to 2022 r3... and immediately noticed this in the toc for my projects: 2023-05-04_08-53-18.png Is the jagged line across the page icon just an update? Or does it have any meaning? Thanks in advance, Alison

Re: Reorganizing Topics in the Content Explorer
Content Explorer has (several times now) started to display files in an unknown order. TopicOrder.png I don't know why it's doing it... but it's driving me mad. I tend to use the ToC to find the file I want to edit (it's easier... especially when working backwards from a PDF where someone has marked...

I have exactly the same problem. I haven't tried it yet (just about to), but had you seen this?

min-height not being respected in PDF
Hi, I'm using Flare 11 - which is a good bit older than the version I normally use. I'm trying to create DIVs to hold warnings and notes. Something that's not difficult to do... However, although the HTML5 output is respecting the min-height setting, the PDF isn't. The image is 81 pixels high, so I'...

Style-based spelling options
Hi guys, I've found the option to set mc-language in the stylesheet against a style. Can anyone tell me, is there a way to use that to stop the spell-checker checking stuff with that style applied? (I have a lot of code snippets in a 'code' font and I can't see the wood for the trees when running th...

Re: Images in output folder
Having done a bit of scouring of the source code (I find it easier to spot stuff that way), I *think* I know what it might be. Just about to test... there are a lot of images on that page, all conditionally tagged. For some reason, two of those for this particular product are tagged for that product...

Images in output folder
Hi guys, I'm using a much older version of Flare than I am used to (a client's version - Flare 11) and I don't know if this is the reason or I'm just missing something... When I build a PDF, I'm getting the PDF I want - plus two of the images it contains (just 2 - and there are hundreds) in the Outp...

Re: Sanity check -- Heading levels in Snippets don't follow
Does anyone know if this ever got fixed? I've got a snippet that in one manual should be at H3, and in another at H2. I created it with the title at H1, and that's where it went in the PDF - and its sibling sections (other h2 or h3, depending on manual) appeared to be subsections of it. Really broke...

@import stylesheet generating errors
Hi. In an effort to not confuse myself, I've separated the formatting for the online help from that for the manual (in help.css and manual.css respectively). It keeps the help.css file smaller and means the GUI developers (who may have to tweak the styles) are only affecting those used in the help. ...

Conditional stylesheets?
In my one project, I have documentation for 8 products. The project uses the one main stylesheet for PDF output, which works for all topics except for one. The title page in the project has a fixed-size purple box containing a text frame into which 3 of 4 variables are displayed: <ProductName> or <P...

Re: Changing bullet color
I have done this, but I always put paragraphs inside lists (as they are often more than one paragraph long - numbered steps, especially). I colour the list as others have said, then set the colour of a paragraph when within a list item to be the default colour. It works...

Glossary styles
Hi everyone, First, a few parameters: Using Flare 2017 r3 on Windows 10 Output = PDF (always, when the glossary is included as a separate file) I've finally finished converting a FM book to Flare, and the last thing I've checked is the glossary. In the original PDF (from FrameMaker), the Glossary di...

Re: Conditional text and Boolean expressions
I've sorted it, it works and I'm happy. This is pretty much a one-time exercise, with maybe a copy/paste and do a bit of inserting of product types (if ever we get more) but no-one has to think too hard when *using* the condition tags. If it's in, tag it. :) I've created myself a large-ish topic inc...

Conditional text and Boolean expressions
Well, I thought it was much simpler and I had it sussed... *I changed the post title to make it perhaps easier to find...* Then I created a single test topic, applied conditions in various ways, indicated whether I expected that statement to appear or not and built the target. First of all I'd got t...

Re: NEWBIE questions - condition tags...
@whunter. Thank you. I had realised that "no tags" means included by default, but I had forgotten one of the implications... and it's made it so much simpler. I may have elements with condition tags for more than one product but I will never have elements marked for both PDF and HTML. They...

Re: NEWBIE questions - condition tags...
There's something about asking the question that makes you think about possible answers... I've just hunted for and found the Advanced settings for conditional text with targets. It's going to take some thinking about!

Conditional text and Boolean expressions
Hi there, I just want to see what the most elegant way is to solve my problem... I have three sets of conditon tags: Platforms (windows, unix, etc) Products (product A, product B - although these are actually more like product types) Output (PDF and online) So far it's worked well, as I've only ever...

Re: Keep different medium styles in same stylesheet or separ
@Paul - yes, I had huge problems with styles appearing at odd places. I'd wonder why something wasn't looking the way I expected, would open the .css in a text editor (which is how I'm used to working) and couldn't see anything. Then would find that I'd updated the style at several different times a...

Re: Keep different medium styles in same stylesheet or separ
@doc_guy... Yes, I understand what you're saying. And I think I may well end up merging them once everything is more stable (a simple copy-paste exercise). While I'm still at the stage of getting stuff into Flare (I've done 1 1/2 projects out of a dozen or so various FM / RoboHelp / Word sets), it's...

Re: Importing multiple Robohelp projects into a single Flare
How did this work out for you? I'm trying to do the same, but unless I'm missing something, there's a snag. I sorted out the CSS for the first RoboHelp import, getting rid of unnecessary styles, etc. Now I believe I have to create a new Flare project to import the next RoboHelp project... but doing ...

Re: Keep different medium styles in same stylesheet or separ
So far so good. I struggled a little in that no matter what medium I picked in the editor, I only saw the HTML stylesheet styles. Appearance wasn't a problem, but lack of classes that didn't exist in the HTML was - I couldn't select p.caution (for example) nor the .keepWithNext or .keepWithPrevious,...

Re: Keep different medium styles in same stylesheet or separ
I'm doing something similar, but I'm guessing mine is a later version of Flare (2017 r3) in case that makes a difference. I will try to remember to come back and report on any issues I find... if I don't update, it's working fine. :D I've decided to separate into 2 css files containing the actual st...

Use lowercase filenames problem
I've solved my problem (sort of) but thought I'd share to save someone else scratching their heads over it. I have imported a lot of RoboHelp stuff into Flare. In RoboHelp, I had the "use lowercase filenames" setting ON, which worked fine. The software developers created links from each we...

Re: Files required for dropdown and expanding text
Hi George, Yes, that's the general idea. It's working OK - but I have a lot of .js files in the output that I'm pretty sure I'm not using. Without knowing what they are for, I don't know which I need to include. It may be that I just need to include the lot regardless - not quite what I was hoping f...

Files required for dropdown and expanding text
Hi, To set the scene... I'm created some HTML5 help, but not for a help "system". Each individual topic is linked to a web app page, and there is no cross linking between topics. Each topic opens in its own fixed-size browser window that can be moved and scrolled but not enlarged. I'm usin...
