Re: Show total number of pages
Okay, so I have created a seperate pagelayout just for the coverpage. I have applied the pagelayout but when I build the pdf it is still showing the old pagelayout. Is there something else I need to change somewhere?

Re: Show total number of pages
I'm sorry, I am not particularly familiar with CSS and don't understand what you are saying regarding frames. I am struggling to see the benefit of using this over Word. It makes so many things more difficult to do it is driving me nuts but that's off topic so I will leave it there.

I could. Does that mean it is impossible to show the number of pages on the main part of a document?

Re: Show total number of pages
It works in the footer. It shows "Page 1 of 66". It is on the main part of the page it does not work. The template that is used by my company requires the total number of pages to be displayed as part of the front cover of documents and it is here that it is not working. How do you paste screenshots ...

I have a 'h1','h2','h3' and 'h4'.

Re: Problem with Table of Contents
If I put in a Chapter Break the numbering system works but I don't want a load of empty space on my pages. Is there a way of putting a chapter break in but not making it start on a new page?

Re: Problem with Table of Contents
Okay, I have found that. I have not clicked in the Targets folder before so this is something new to me. I did what you said and it doesn't seem to have made any difference to my table of contents. Any other ideas?

Re: Show total number of pages
The code for the pagecount is below.
<p class="coverpage">TOTAL NUMBER OF PAGES</p>
<p class="coverpage"><MadCap:variable name="System.PageCount" style="color: #000000; font-size: 10pt;" />
</p>
It doesn't allow me to post a screenshot but on the actual page it just shows the number "1".

Re: Problem with Table of Contents
Looking at it closer, the section that works, all of the titles are on the same topic. The section that does not work, each heading is a different topic. Is this the issue and how can I fix this?

Automatic numbering separate for figures and tables
Okay, so I have my autonumbering sorted for my figures using this:
GH:Figure {n+}:
I also want to autonumber my tables. How can I do this? I changed the code to say:
GH:Table {n+}:
but this just continues the value of n on, understandably.
So what do I need to do different?
Cheers

Well this is getting very confusing.
I changed the code so that it looks like this:

</p>
<p class="caption" MadCap:autonum="Figure 1: ">Logging into the Application Server </p>

Re: Inserting an image with label from beginning
Well that is frustrating. It is pleasing to know that what I have done is the correct way and should work but leaves me at a loss to work out why it isn't. I can click before the 'Figure 1:' and type and I can type on the next line down but it won't allow me to type after it. Does anyone else have ...

Re: Inserting an image with label from beginning
Clearly what I am asking for is either too time consuming, people don't understand what I am asking or perhaps the answer to my question is already out there in an easy to understand format. If someone could help me out here it would be much appreciated.

My second page does not include a tocProxy. Not sure what that is. My pagecount is not in the footer it is on the main section of the page. I have the Chapter Number to Increment. I didn't have a break type on my coverpage but I tried changing it to Page Layout Break and it didn't make any ...

Re: Show total number of pages
I don't think I am familiar enough with Madcap to do anything 'funky' with it. My Pagecount is on the coverpage and the first page number is also showing on the coverpage. Although once I have this sorted I might try to hide the coverpage page number. It shows the number 1 in edit mode and the ...
