Re: "Cannot connect to server" error?

I'm not sure about that, but I've been trying to submit a bug report on their website, and it just hangs when I click Submit. I tried three different browsers and two different computers. Maybe it's looking for the same server...

Running WSL bash scripts as pre-build/post-build events

Hi all, If you are running Windows 10 and you haven't tried out WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux), try it! It's an amazingly useful amalgam of Windows and Linux that lets you run Linux scripts and binaries directly on your Windows machine. As a simple example, I placed the following three lines in t...

Re: Editor tips and tricks?

I'm curious what program you use to make gifs such as the ones you included in your post? I've never made gifs nor have a budget to purchase a new program but would like to know what's available. Thanks! See the post from Apr 27, 2017. It's a program called ScreenToGIF, and it works great - and it'...

Resolve Conflicts, the OK button is ghosted out

Hi all, I stumbled onto a case where the Resolve Conflicts window opens and all the conflicts appear to be resolved already, but the OK button was disabled (ghosted). It turns out that this occurs when there are conflicts in the underlying source code (text editor) that aren't visible in the XML edi...

Re: Does the Merge Tool work for anyone?

Hi Dave, In a case where Flare did successfully figure out the merge, the Previous/Next buttons were ghosted for me too, and I couldn't select/deselect any changes in the review panes. In a more complicated scenario where it couldn't figure out the merge, then Previous/Next were clickable and I was ...

Re: Binding Flare project to Git, trying to figure this out.

I was able to simulate a conflict by editing a topic file externally from Flare (in this case, from the GitLab web interface itself), then making a chance in the same area of the topic locally, then doing a Pull.

Re: GIT Confusion

We've had a ton of issues with Git integration as well. We use Stash + SourceTree. Binding through Flare's import feature leads to horrible performance, whereas cloning through Stash is just fine. In general the support I've received when I call isn't very helpful. To most it sounds like they know ...

Can the header filtering stuff be done when binding a project to Git from within Flare?

Edit: I filed an enhancement request for a native option to suppress these in topic files.

Re: Binding Flare project to Git, trying to figure this out.

Also, a heads-up... While experimenting with this, I was doing lots of saves and branch-switching to try scenarios out. I noticed that if I have a topic open, I change branches, then I make a change and save (Ctrl-S) quickly, the Pending Files list does not update OR updates improperly. If I wait a ...

Binding Flare project to Git, trying to figure this out...

I'm running Flare 2017 r3, and I'm experimenting with binding our project to Git. (Many of you prefer managing this externally - I will explore this too.) How do I make a conflict occur? For example, I make branch #1 from parent and commit a change. Then I make branch #2 from parent and commit a con...

I have just fought this battle in Flare2017r3 and finally figured out how to do this by sheer trial & error. As I have wasted a lot of time figuring this out, i'm hoping to save other people from having to do the same by posting this here. The public key must have a specific format of "[ty...

Re: Flare 12: No Usable Workflow for Equations

Flare 12 dumps the java-based equation editor we have had for a while and replaces it with ... almost nothing? What you get is a box that lets you paste in MathML source code from an external editor. This failed in two out of three test cases. When I pasted in an equation from the Flare 11 equation...

Re: Not able to bind Perforce in Flare 11

This might be the issue. Per Flare support:
Flare 2017 is currently only compatible with Perforce 2014.1 and 2015.2
whereas we are using 2017.3.

The series of screen captures above, and the description, are EXACTLY what I'm running into with Flare 2017r2. Re: Not able to bind Perforce in Flare 11

Has there been any improvement in Perforce support in 2017r2? I am trying to get it to work, but with no luck. Filling out the Bind Project dialog is painful. The tool often hangs with no busy pointer or indication that it's doing something. There is no log (that I know of) where I can see what oper...

I figured it out. I spent some time learning Foundation 6 Grid here: https://foundation.zurb.com/sites/docs/grid.html Then, I mocked up a layout in codepen: https://codepen.io/chrispitude/pen/NajBav Then, grafted this into an existing MasterPage file, replaced the existing layout with my own, and re...

Re: Multiple TOCs in a tripane HTML5 output

Possibly related (and possibly not!), In Oracle's help at https://docs.us-phoenix-1.oraclecloud.com/Content/home.htm once you enter a documentation section, they have a setup where topic files (but not headings inside them) are shown in a TOC on the left, and headings inside the current topic file (...

Your graphics card would not have anything to do with it. Having more system (not video) memory might improve matters, but the root cause is likely a software bug in the tool.

Re: Creating new topics related to existing topics

That might work for your TOC and directory structure but you can't assume that's the norm. I don't think you can expect Flare to know where you want to put your new files. I think the best they could do is maybe default to the last folder you added a file to. That might be worth a feature request. ...

Re: Creating new topics related to existing topics

When you right click in the TOC and select Add New Topic, you get to choose what folder the new file goes into. If you don't select a folder, it goes into the root directory. Yes, this is how I'm currently doing it (my third bullet, then choosing the directory in the dialog box). But instead of the...

Is the Create Group dialog customizable?

I recently discovered the Create Group (selecting stuff and pressing the Tab key). Very cool! The dialog presents me with a number of tags from our template. Now I want to add a new topic, at that place in the TOC, and into that folder in the Content directory. Is there a way to do this? Because... If I right-click a folder in the Content Explorer and c...
