Importing Docbook XML files

Did anyone read the book HTML to Flare by Peter Lavin? There is a chapter in it about importing Docbook into Flare. The book‘s instructions explain that you have to write several scripts and then it’ll work. But I don’t know how and where to do that. I am not familiar with XSL. Could anybody help me?

I have the same problem in the TOC. Could anyone help us, please?

Either a list-style-image nor a list-style-type will be displayed in the PDF toc.

Nothing works. What do I do wrong?
