Re: Flare v6.1 and PDF Output
We've been having this happen to us too (and quite a bit lately). I've gotten around it by closing any instance of Windows Explorer that is accessing the project folder. Also, closing all topics in the project before rebuilding also works. Don't ask me why the latter works as it seems to have nothin...

Section Page Count?
I'm sure I'm missing something simple, but how do you insert a Section Page Count variable? I'm resetting my page count for each section/chapter but can't see to get it to work. My page number resets, but my Page Count is for the whole document and not just for the section/chapter.

I found this two days into running V5 and reported it. Please report it as well so (hopefully) it'll get fixed sooner.

The Analyzer does seem to process much more slowly than in 4.2. And I too have phrase collection disabled.

Re: Flare 5 now available
You can install Flare v5 alongside Flare v4 -- it won't overwrite v4. Be careful though. I installed V5 and it blew away my Flare V4 registration. That's never happened to me before. Update I realized that I used my updated email address (due to corporate email changes) with Flare V5. Since this ad...

Re: Is it possible to change the Loading.gif image?
But by changing it there it would affect all my output, right? Currently I'm looking at only doing for certain projects. Thank you for your help. At least I know where I can go to make changes if I feel adventurous. Looks like I'll be submitting an enhancement request to make that a spec in the Skin...

Re: Is it possible to change the Loading.gif image?
I did find the image in my WebHelp output but when I replaced it with my new image it retained the original image's proportions so my new image was distorted. I'd like to replace the default image because the default is very XP-looking and dated.

Is it possible to change the Loading.gif image?
Is it possible to change the current Loading.gif image that displays when WebHelp loads? I don't see an entry for it in the Skin Editor.

Table Alignment Messed Up with the Flare 4.2 Patch
After I loaded the Flare 4.2 patch, all text in tables is aligned too high so it crosses the boundaries of the table. This does not make for acceptable output.

Re: Flare changing table settings; odd appearance in editor
Wow, I guess I'm not the only one. This issue started (for me) with 4.0. I reported it but Support could not re-create it. I really hope it gets fixed soon because it's very annoying and affects productivity.

Disable Master Pages for Specific Topics in Online Targets
Is it possible to not use an established master page for specific topics in an online help file? For example, if I wanted to have breadcrumbs throughout my help file except on my first page, how would I go about doing that?

We had this issue crop up a couple months back. For some reason we just re-saved the image files and they magically started showing up in WebHelp. Still to this day don't understand why it worked, but it did.

Re: Flare's ability to resize graphics
I, too, feel that the quality of resized images in Flare is lacking, at least when compared to Word. I would like to begin using Flare to generate some print materials, but since we use a lot of graphics that sometimes need to be resized it is not feasible at this time.

The only strange thing about this update is that the installer didn't tell me the patch install had completed - the installer window just disappeared. Something to notify the user the patch was successfully installed would be helpful in the future.

Been wondering the same thing myself. They're not the wrong size, they just seem to be scaled up. But at 100% shouldn't they look the same as in V3.1?

Re: Possible to work with Flare 3.1 and 4 on the same project?
I've missed the point there ... are you telling us to maybe install Flare 4 but keep on working with Flare 3.1? Maybe I misunderstood - then explain it to me, please. What I'm trying to say is that I don't recall Macap ever saying that we shouldn't open up projects that have been touched by Flare 4...

Re: Possible to work with Flare 3.1 and 4 on the same project?
Maybe I've missed something but I don't recall Madcap saying that one should not go back to v3.1 after upgrading to v4.0. I've seen it first hand where the stylesheet gets blown away and it's a doozy. Someone could really hose themselves if they weren't careful. This might not be such an issue if yo...

Re: Text Box Positioning
Thanks everybody! I appreciate the help. I submitted this whole thing as an enhancement request because I think there should be a better way to work with text boxes. Because if I have to map out every object like I'm playing Battleship, then I'll just stick with Word. At least I'm familiar with the ...

Re: Text Box Positioning
I've tried changing the z-index values in separate div styles but I can't get any overlapping to happen. This is almost becoming more trouble than it's worth, but I thank you and Kevin for your help. I figure that if I can't make this happen easily, how can I expect anyone else in my group to use Fl...

Is there a way to do this without getting into the code or reinserting the image into the new div?KevinDAmery wrote:You can wrap an image in Div tags without affecting its appearance if you want, so the simplest approach would be to create a div and assign it a depth.

Re: Text Box Positioning
Actually, what I was asking was regarding the ability to drag a text box (which is what they're called in Flare 4 although they are just divs) to the exact position I need (like you can in Word) instead of only working within the contraints of the stylesheet. I didn't see anything in the help file t...
