Analytics on an Intranet (no external WWW access)

I'm shipping an HTML5 site to a customer alongside their custom software on servers that do not have access to the public internet. I'd like (as part of a wider investigation ito the low rate of adoption for the s/w :( ) to track usage of the Help. Before I've used Google Analytics and rely on Centr...

Re: linking a custom toolbar button to the project home page

Did a quick search and found this page https://www.codexworld.com/how-to/open- ... avascript/ which suggests appending "_self" to your window.open might be what you need.

Have you looked at Matthias Sander's Mad Quality plug-in? (https://www.improvementsoft.com/Content/index.htm) I've not used it myself but have found the Kaizen Plugin extremely useful in the past.

Re: Time/Date variable set to update "On File Save" updates on every Central build

I'm assuming from what you wrote that your process is to upload content to Central and use Central's build to publish to your Central-hosted site? (Forgive me, if that's not what you meant.) If that's the case, have you tried publishing into Central from your local copy of Flare? Does that preserve ...

Re: Mobile output not working

I think your description is fine. What you're trying to achieve is opening a locally-stored copy of an Flare HTML output on a mobile device--and it's not working. I feel your frustration. My suspicion is there are no answers because many folk publish to the internet (I do! :) ) with any mobile and t...

Re: Can you convert a longish code snippet into a dropdown?

Unless I'm misunderstanding what you want, you can do this. An entire code snippet can be put in the body of a dropdown. There's no need to convert the content of the code snippet just wrap it inside the dropdown. I think the only issue you might have is if you want to use the caption from the Code ...

Re: Let's not lose our corporate memory!

There's not that one perfect platform, is there! Never will be. :( I'm afraid that regarding the Slack community FOMO has not (yet) won out over the overload of competing tools I'm already lumbered with (Confluence, JIRA, Teams, various forums...) so I've never asked to join. As a lone author, that ...

Just for folk's info (I can live with this ugly artefact): my laptop screen plus two montors all on 100% scale and the recommended resolution and I get the weird diagonals.

Happened to me with upgrading to Win11 too. Nothing seems to be broken; it's just rather ugly.

Has anyone actually purchased and used Contributor or Executive licenses? We're about to renew our Central licenses and I'd love to be able to change one of our Author seats for an Executive and some Contributor seats. Not offered on renewal and still no info on the website (the cynic in me says it'...

Hi Jonathan, You'll be wanting to look at using the "page-break-after: avoid" setting, probably in an alternative body style to your standard body text. Or use divs. A quick search brought up this article https://www.madcapsoftware.com/blog/madcap-flare-tip-controlling-page-breaks-using-gr...

Re: using Flare's built-in templates-deleting default text

Hi Nina,

In the Content Explorer, open the E-Frontmatter-Topics folder and look at Title.htm. That's where I found offending text lurking. :)

Hope that's the solution you need,

Re: Upload an Excel file automatically on MadCap Flare

Hi Mj, Have you looked at using the Excel imports option? You can configure this to Auto-reimport before 'Generate output' (in the options tab of the Excel Import Editor). Once defined, this will pull in changes to the specified excel sheet(s) each time you build. If you then want to automate publis...

Re: Set condition of ONE variable

Hi there, I think you can do this--actually in more than one way. Note: I'm assuming that you're relying on conditions on the snippet file (set from the Content Explorer) to make the snippet appear/not appear rather than conditioning an inserted snippet inside the topic. I'm further assuming that yo...

Re: getting started

If you are publishing with no access restrictions, there's no need to grant access. Users can just goto the URL of the live site. If you set the site to private, you'll need to add permitted users to a team and associate the team with the site. When you send out an invitation to a new user, you can ...

Just to note that copying directly from a published code snippet can still cause problems: the leading spaces in indented lines of code are non-breaking spaces and may cause difficulties when working with the pasted code snippet.

Did the OP report this as a bug? I've found this problem (in Flare 2022 r2-posted about it then-and still in Flare 2022 r3) or rather my QA colleagues did (I'd copied out and pasted into several code editors, but hadn't ever compiled  ). The one time I have this happen to me (regardless of Windows version or, indeed, Flare version) is if I have many topics and snippets open simultaneously. Flare 2022 r2 I paste in some JSON which happens to have been formatted with leading spaces.
