Wonky hyperlink behavior

Hi, has anyone had wonky hyperlink behavior in HTML output? By that I mean that you need to click the linked object right in the middle of the linked object; clicking to the right or left does not work. wonky_hyperlinks.gif I've put these object in a div - could this perhaps have something to do wit...

Re: All the files necessary in HTML5 output?

We wanted to remove them in order to provide as clean a system as possible, and to get rid of any perceived clutter. For the moment, our support teams and select customers will be able to access the system directly, hence the desire to provide a single htm file for access to the system. In the futur...

Re: Which generated files (csh.js, for ex.) in HTML5 output are necessary?

Thanks; I think you must be correct; the system I've generated isn't context sensitive, and everything seems to work fine.

Which generated files (csh.js, for ex.) in HTML5 output are necessary?

Are the files "Default.js", "Default.mcwebhelp", "Default_CSH.htm", "csh.js", and "HTML5.mclog" necessary in HTML5 output if I only need users to open the help in a browser (Edge, Chrome, Firefox)? I simply use "Default.htm" as the entry po...

Re: "Update your browser" prompt - Internet Explorer

Thanks - I think you're right that the message is being displayed in an embedded browser. When I generate HTML5 output and open it directly from the output folder (using Chrome, Firefox, Edge), this problem does not occur. It occurs only when I open the help from within our app - i.e., open our app,...

Re: "Update your browser" prompt - Internet Explorer

Thanks Nita; we'll look into this - but I'm confused: What you mean by moving our help to HTML5? When we generate our output, the output type selected is HTML5. Is this then not really HTML5? Also, and for context, we provide our help from two sources: locally (i.e. the help system is automatically ...

"Update your browser" prompt - Internet Explorer

Can someone explain the mechanism behind the continued use, or calling, of Internet Explorer in Flare HTML output? In our HTML output we provide links to YouTube videos. Clicking a link prompts you to select a specific browser (message: "Please update your browser. Your browser isn't supported ...

Re: publishing to ftp

I'm contributing to this now old thread because last week, for the first time, I needed to publish via FTP and found an unlikely solution. I kept getting the message: Publish failed: The FTP client has not yet connected to the server. The requested action cannot be performed until after a connection...

Psider, my mistake; the XML code doesn't appear in the XML Editor.
In any case, thanks all for the feedback; I'll solve this when there's more time.

Re: Related Topics - how to?

Nita, I understood what you meant. I had been working on this for a day, and had already looked at the links you sent (but thanks all the same :) ) The first link you suggested is the first one I had already found before posting here. It's confusing. The section "How to insert a related topics ...

Related Topics - how to?

I inherited a project with an htm topic that references 3 other topics in the project as "See also" links. These "See also" links are visible on the generated HTML page. But in Flare on the Text Editor page they are not visible; they are only visible on the XML Editor page and th...

Bind Detection: applied to all projects by default?

If Bind Detection is set for one project, it appears that Flare automatically applies Bind Detection to all projects: - True? - If true, is it possible to switch off this behavior? We have products that require Bind Detection, and others that do not. Every time I open a Flare project for a project w...

How to disable line breaks for simple copy & paste operation

In our doc we sometimes provide specific command strings that can be very long. In Flare we enter the string as it should be executed, for example: patchSoftware --oraHome=/opt/mycompany/oracle/oracle/product/12.1.0.2/dbhome_1 --patch=/mnt/oradistro/embed/12102/Linux/patches/vdboraclepatches.xml We ...

Yep, thanks Dave.
Still, I find report results bizarre, and in many cases not very revealing. I've learned to take them with a grain of salt.

Re: Reports reliability

Thanks; these rogue condition tags don't seem to be doing any harm (but frustrated that yet another layer of unintuitive Flare complexity reveals itself: where do these things come from? They're like mushrooms; various elements seem to pop up all over the place), so manual search it will be until I ...

Image maps and thumbnails: can they be friends?

Can an image with hotspots (added using the Image Map Editor) be thumbnailed? I have an image with 5 hotspots that link to the respective 5 topics in my project. When I set the image to thumbnail and generate my HTML5 target, the image appears as a thumbnail, but the links do not work. Is this a mat...

Re: Single Sourcing for Page Layouts

I have a similar situation, if I understand yours correctly. I wanted different footers in my PDFs, and I was successful using variables. My situation is simpler, but it worked. We have two guides that are similar: one for external (customer) use, one for internal use. So I created a single project ...
