MadCap:Xrefs not working if they span topic folders
Apologies in advance; I wasn't sure if this belongs in this discussion or the Stylesheets one. So I'm using Flare 2020 r2. There are a number of weirdness happening with this version that I'm not happy with but this is the biggest one. I have a folder structure for my topics, based around how the UR...

Table Not Respecting Style=Width Formatting
Hi there, I have a table CSS which is very simple - no headers, footers, borders, set widths, or any such formattting. I use it when I want to create a horizontal listing of sorts. I use style="width: n%;" to set the column widths which typically works for the rare occassions I need...

Re: 1 x global project, 3 x sub-projects, 1 x mega-project
Hi ChoccieMuffin, I don't think I explained it very well. Sorry about that. I think you're right, it's more a case of the output rather than the GPL - think I got hung up on the wrong angle. I have a single documentation site, where Mega-project is hosted. Projects A, B, and C form sub-folders withi...

1 x global project, 3 x sub-projects, 1 x mega-project
Hello, I'm looking for a bit of advice. I currently have a very large project that is soon to double (and then some!) in size. I would like to split this up into 3 smaller projects with a 4th "mega-project" that pulls all 3 in at build time (I got the idea from a Scott DeLoach webinar): pr...

Re: Styling a heading in a menuProxy
  I think I need a new fine-tooth-comb. When I test, I typically comment out sections to ensure only new CSS is tested. Somehow, I managed to put the * for that / in a separate place during one of my tests. Skillz! Thanks for you help Dave! I'll leave this post here in case the code can ...

RESOLVED: Styling a heading in a menuProxy
Happy 2019 Flare-users/lovers! So I've been battling with this conumdrum for a while now and can't figure out what's going on  I've been tasked with replicating this layout: 08-01-2019_aim.png At first, I created this using a <p> class for "Table of Contents" before the menuProxy bu...

Re: Possible to have a topicbodyPoxy split by a menuProxy?
Thanks guys for your replies. @ChoccieMuffin, that was my "I give up, and will manually insert it" thought late in the evening! @Nita, I haven't considered that this couldn't be retro-fitted to existing topics; all my testing was for a new topic so will need to check those ones later. I li...

Re: Customised skin doesn't persist
Resolved
Sorry, don't know how to delete posts so instead, just adding that this is resolved now.
I was using a div.<blah> in my CSS when it was actually a nav.<blah>. For some reason, a non-parented class wasn't being accepted either.
It works; I'm happy

Possible to have a topicbodyPoxy split by a menuProxy?
Hello, Does anyone know of a way I can adjust my Master page so that topics start with a heading1, have a TOC of the headings underneath, then the rest of the topic underneath that? So the output would be something like: sample_topic_layout.png I want the majority of my topics to use this layout so ...

Customised skin doesn't persist
Hello, I came across a topic in this forum describing how to customise the skin in a TopNav HTML5 output. Great! This is something my marketing department has been bugging me about for the past year which I thought couldn't be done. I dutifully put the new CSS into my main topics stylesheet (and the...

Memory Leak in 2018?
Hello, Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing what I can only describe as a memory leak in 2018 (build 14.0.6738.27462). I have Flare running over a number of days, with a project open. I currently have 2 topics open, an import file, and Flare's own Start Page. The same project has been open ...

Re: Can you ignore the "Content" folder structure when build
For those in a similar predicament and looking for a resolution, thought I'd post a solution: I had to swallow a bitter pill and split my gigantic project into smaller projects, with a global project contaning the shared images, snippets, variables, and condition tags. Takes a while to get used to, ...

... and I clicked Submit rather than Preview. NOT having a good day!!
I think I was trying to be too clever. As it's just the one target with 2 versions of the topic, I'll have to snippet-ize as suggested. Wood, trees, and all that jazz
Thank you!

Re: Topic-level condition tags not hiding information
Ah, it's the target that does it. OK. I only have 2 targets - HTML5 and PDF. I'm kinda stuck with it for the time being - legacy product / help that I've inherited. The help reflects the product. Nothing I can do about that. The help is included "in-product" so there's no way I start doing...

Topic-level condition tags not hiding information
Hello good people of the Flare Forum, I'm in need of some advice regarding condition tags. I have a topic that discusses the use of a single software driver that is known by 2 names. Ugh. In the topic, both names are mentioned but they are condition tagged. There are also snippets in the topic that ...

Re: Can you ignore the "Content" folder structure when build
'Fraid to say, AlexFox, you've got the wrong end of the stick. For my subset builds, I have the "Exclude" option enabled (which works a treat). I don't have a "Content" folder in my output as I have enabled the "Do not use Content folder in output" parameter, as you cor...

Can you ignore the "Content" folder structure when building?
Hello All, Apologies if this is in the wrong forum topic, I couldn't see where it should go. Does anyone know if you can have Flare ignore the project's Content folder structure when building output?? I've got a large Flare project that when built is my whole product's help. From time-to-time, I nee...

Re: Custom bullet styles and floating images

I put the same question to Flare's support and was advised to use 2x1 tables to format the layout - text in one cell, image in the other. All good.
I might raise a bug about this layout problem though ...

Custom bullet styles and floating images
My tombstone is going to read "Never float your images"! I've found a strange quirk with using floating images and custom bullet styles ... in that they don't seem to like one another! I wonder if anyone else has this problem and found a resolution? Background: I have to use FontAwe...

Re: Images floating left with lists v. IE and Edge
O I understand now! I've just checked the built CSS in my Output folder, and the IE / Edge additions I made aren't there. I added them post-build and tested. Works fine in Edge (seems I've an additional problem in the IE section but I can debug that in my own time now). I totally misunderstood how F...

Re: Images floating left with lists v. IE and Edge
In case anyone is following this hoping for a resolution. To date, I have not had any luck with this at all. Paragraphs of text wrap beautifully but the lists are still left with the bullet or number overlapping the image. Having spoken with MadCap Support, I was advised to use the "overflow: h...

Re: mc-multiline-indent Not Working in HTML5 Output
I'm using Flare 2017 R3 ... and can confirm this is still happening. I've can use the mc-multiline-indent property in my print CSS but to get everything aligned nicely in my HTML5 output, I've had to leave it as the "default settings" so to speak and take it on the chin for that output. Ac...

Using Edge- and IE-specific CSS
Hello all, I'm wondering if anyone has had any luck using media queries in their CSS for Edge- and IE-specific elements? Specifically in Flare 2017 R3. This is linked to my previous forum post — https://forums.madcapsoftware.com/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=29607 . MadCap support initially advised to use...

Hello all! Apologies if this has been covered before; I've gone through the posts and can't find anything recent so just trying my luck. Smashing! Thanks ChoccieMuffin!
It never occurred to me to use the <p> tags for the screenshot and leave the rest as is. Think I got hung up on the "use <img> for images and <p> for text" mantra
