Re: How do I create a cross-reference to a numbered step?

UPDATE: It can be done even easier and cleaner: In ol.StepNum > li > p:first-child change mc-auto-number-position: outside -head; to mc-auto-number-position: inside -head; . And add display: none; to span.StepNum . Drop the selectors ol.StepNum > li > table and ol.StepNum > li > table > tbody > tr >...

UPDATE: See next post (https://forums.madcapsoftware.com/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=5968&p=145639#p145639) Nita and all, I took another look at that whole reference step numbers and accessibility thing. As far as I saw, at least any li tags with MadCap Autonumbering directly attached to them are ...

Re: How do I create a cross-reference to a numbered step?

p.s. I have not tested the output with a screenreader, so I don't know if the screenreader would announce the step numbers. I also tested this only in HTML5 output, not PDF, but I'd think it should work for PDF, too. I apologize if I was bothering you, Nita. I only want to ask if, by chance, you mi...

Re: How do I create a cross-reference to a numbered step?

Hi again, sorry if any of my following words are nonsense, I currently don't have the newest version of Flare installed and am just brainstorming. Two thoughts: 1) On the theoretical side, I hear (read) what @trent the thief is saying about "a construct formed when a browser renders it and ther...

In case some MadCap manager ever come across this thread, I want to up the pressure to update Capture and Mimic. Here are the latest release dates: Mimic: "Last updated: May 1, 2018", see https://kb.madcapsoftware.com/Content/Mimic/General/GEN1009M_-_Mimic_8_Release_Notes.htm Capture: &quo...

Re: Local help issue

If you open the Flare Options dialog, on the General tab, do you have the Prefer Local Help option enabled? If not, that may be why it doesn't launch locally, provided you downloaded it. Thanks, that was it. Wow, that makes no sense what so ever. How stupid a software Flare sometimes can be. Howeve...

Local help issue

Hi all, Just as a side note, I am still on a perpetual license for Flare 2018. But I think/hope that that should not really matter for the following issue: When I press F1 inside Flare, it opens a "HelpUnavailable.htm" page saying: You are not connected to the Internet and do not have the ...

Re: Example: Customising the HTML5 tripane skin

I found the problem. To explain it in line with the given example 2: My css is named with all lower chars, like "customskin.css". Yep, presumably filenames on your web server are case sensitive, but Windows on your PC is not case sensitive. In my example project, I included two versions o...

Loading the output (Default.htm) in the browser from the local harddrive, the adjustments work as intended. However, when I upload it to the web and load it via http://www.... then it does not work anymore. Same files. What could be wrong? TIA EDIT: I found the problem. To explain it in line with th...

How do I cycle the active files with keyboard?

Hello all, I want to cycle through the open tabs resp. active files with the keyboard, preferrably with Ctrl+Tab and backwards with Ctrl+Shift+Tab. Maybe I am blind or dumb, but I found that Ctrl+Tab only brings up a small dialog in which one can select the tab / file to switch to either with the mo...

Re: How do I style the main header of an automatic TOC in pd

The TOC heading uses the h1 style. ah, ok, thanks, can confirm after testing. which is unfortunate. another one of Flares UX traps. If it was at least nicely mentioned in the help at the right place... oh well. and now those horrendous price tag increase for the software. I don't see a big future f...

How do I style the main header of an automatic TOC in pdf?

How do I style the main header of an automatic TOC in pdf? I know about the container style MadCap | toxProxy and the p.TOC1-9 styles but none of these seem to affect the main header. I am also not talking about changing the text of the main header (which would be in a language skin) but I want to c...

Re: Adobe Framemaker required to build output

Also nice to know:
At least according to the Flare 2019 online help, the FrameMaker target is not available anymore in Flare 2019. In the Flare 2018 online help it still was mentioned, but not in 2019.
Couldn't try it anymore in the 2019 test version because it ran out of time.

Re: Distinguish left and right pages in a style?

No problem, With page layouts my goals cannot be achieved. To describe it in detail: I want to create margin notes, which I add in Flare and print together with the main content. Creating them on ONLY ONE side of the main content (left OR right) throughout a topic maybe could be done right now (appr...

Re: Distinguish left and right pages in a style?

Hmm, not sure if we are thinking of the same thing. I am talking about pdf output. I only know of left and right pages in page layouts. If they also exist in Masterpages, that maybe could be interesting. (I have read/heared that technically you can also apply Masterpages to pdf output but that it is...

Distinguish left and right pages in a style?

Hi all, Is there a way to distinguish left and right pages in a style? Maybe with the new 2019 version, which I don't have? I would still like to make margin notes work, but so far I could not find a way of how to distinguish between left and right pages and make the left-style be applied only on le...

Madcap Flare and Amazon's Alexa?

Hi all,
This site: https://www.madcapsoftware.com/madcap-f ... 9/#content mentions Alexa as a possible use for micro content (starting with Flare 2019). Does someone here know in more detail how that could look like and has someone already some experience with that?
Thanks and regards, S.
