Making thumbnail images movable by user
Does anyone have tips on how to make full-size images movable? After clicking a thumbnail image, our users would like to be able to drag the full-size image out of the way to see the text underneath the image. I have seen this older post - is there any more recent information out there? https://foru...

Thank you Rob. Lots to try! I hadn't thought of using Acrobat. But I will probably go the script route.

Re: Generating output that contains only the figures
Thank you - I thought of that but I was not sure how to exclude everything else. As far as I know, there is no way to say "include only condition A and excludes everything else , even content that is not conditionalized". But I could be wrong.

Generating output that contains only the figures
I am looking for a way to create an output of a user guide (preferably HTML but PDF is acceptable) that includes only the figures. This output would facilitate (1) review of figures and (2) distribution of figures with the rest of the organization. I am guessing this could be done with a script that...

Re: Migration Flare -> Flare
Hi Simona Sorry - no words of wisdom to offer but I share your pain. We are in a very similar situation (lots of products, multiple product versions, many deliverable types, PDF and HTML outputs, translation, SVN for source control, regulated industry, etc.). We have not set up global projects yet b...

concepts proxy - adding last saved date to list of topics
Is it there a way to show the last saved date (or any other variable) in the list of topics generated from a concepts proxy? E.g., instead of displaying, for example: Topic 1 Topic 2 Topic 3 Display in reverse chronological order 10AUG2023 Topic 3 20JUL2023 Topic 1 30SEP2022 Topic 2 Thanks Isabelle

Is there a way to hide topics from the side navigation menu in HTML 5 output?
Apologies if this has been discussed before. I could not find anything.

HTML5 display in SharePoint
I've been asked to publish Flare HTML5 projects to SharePoint. The HTML output, which looks just fine when viewed from File Explorer, is missing all the skin elements in SharePoint. Does anyone know which settings in either Flare or SharePoint I should change?
Thanks

"On the next page" "on the facing page"
Where to the words "on the next page" and "on the facing page" in cross-references in PDF output come from? Is there a way to force the system to always use "on page x" instead?
See attached for screenshot of PDF output, xml file, and stylesheet.
Thanks

PDF output with layers
Has anyone used MadCap Flare to create PDF output with layers? I want to create a single guide for both beginners and advanced users. It seems I can do this with PDF layers. The beginner simply has to display the “Details” layer to get more information. Can Flare produce such a PDF output out of the...

Re: IMGs not setting table column widths
Not sure if this will help in your situation, but in the past, I have had success with the object-fit property to size images inserted in a table
img.shrinkFit /*used to fit image inside container */
{
object-fit: scale-down;
}

Using px for PDF output
I downloaded a template from the MadCap website that is specifically intended for PDF output (Monterey template from https://www.madcapsoftware.com/downloads/madcap-flare-project-templates/) The stylesheet for this PDF project uses px for padding, margins, etc. Wouldn't it make more sense to use inc...

Re: PDF or EPUB?
Thanks for your thoughts - I have decided to stick with PDF after reading about your trials&tribulations with EPUB. Unfortunately HTML is not an option in this case. My users won't have access to the internet (shocking I know) and in the past distributing a zipped file of HTML files has caused t...

PDF or EPUB?
Can anyone point me to a good example of an EPUB output published with MadCap Flare? I am writing a visual step-by-step guide (one step per page) and can't use HTML for a number of reasons. My options are therefore PDF or EPUB and I am not sure which way to go. The file will be viewed on PCs and Sam...

Re: How do I get paragraphs to follow the indention of Headi
Just wondering whether there is any new information on this topic. I've been asked to do just that - dynamically adjust the indent of the body text based on heading indentation or TOC depth - and have not come up with anything. Thanks. Isabelle

I am having the same problem. The list of elements generated in the HTML5 output does not include the auto-generated item number even though the auto-generated number appears in the actual page. The number does appear in the list of items generated in the PDF output but not in the HTML5 output. inde...

I work for a medical device company where I use Flare to write instructions for use, service manuals, operator's manuals, training guides, etc. The FDA expects us to validate Flare for its intended use. Any thoughts on how I should go about that type of software validation? I got some tips from a po...
