Re: Cannot delete text in XML view
Thanks for the reply! I was able to find a solution in the meantime. Turns out my description was not entirely correct, the problem did in fact occur in all projects (I did only realize this after the posting). Somehow, and I really don't know how this happened, the list of keyboard shortcuts in the...

Cannot delete text in XML view
I have come across a strange problem with one of our Flare projects. In this project, I cannot delete any text or other elements anymore while I am in the XML editor view. If I open the text editor, I am still able to delete anything I want. This happens with all files in this particular project, wh...

Problem translating snippet variables
I have a bunch of very similar topics in which I use snippet variables to insert some specific information (e.g. "Create DeviceLink" in one, "Create Simulation Profile" in another topic). We have translated our Flare project, and in the foreign language output, the variables rema...

Re: Missing Images in Transltated Topics
I assume these are images that you have localized with Lingo? One of my >100 localized images just vanished when I exported to Flare and created the output - no "missing file", just a white space where the image should be. I couldn't point out anything that was particular to that image tha...

Creating a target that does not use the current project
Hey community, I would like to use my English Flare project to create output directly from a Japanese Lingo project. The problem is that there always has to be output from the current project in each target. There seems to be no way to get rid of it, but I might be missing some obvious setting. Woul...

Re: Floating licenses: terminating a session after a crash?
Sadly, there is no workaround for this. I received this response from the German distributor Helpdesign in their Flare forum: Leider gibt es keinen Workaround, weil Sie auf den Lizenzserver zugreifen können müssten, was nicht möglich ist. Die Aufhebung der Sperre kann nur durch MadCap erfolgen. Ich ...

Floating licenses: terminating a session after a crash?
Hello community, I was wondering if there is a way to manually terminate a session after a software crash if you are using a floating license? We have a floating license for Lingo, and at the moment we have a problem that causes the program to crash pretty frequently. I filed a bug report for the pr...

Re: Togglers look redacted
Glad that you could pinpoint the problem now. I'm missing stuff like that all the time, too ;) As for the css that caused the effect: I might be overlooking something, but I think you didn't post the css for this specific class - somewhere in your style sheet, there should be an element called "...

Re: Togglers look redacted
The first toggler has a class called "toggler", the second (normal looking) one does not have this class. Maybe the weird stuff is in the css for this class? Does it look ok if you delete the class attribute? How does MadCap|toggler.toggler or simply .toggler look in the style sheet?

Re: Increase Font Size
In the "File" menu, open the "options" dialog. On the "Interface" tab of this dialog, you'll find the "Editor Font Size" options. You have to restart Lingo in order for the changes to apply.

Re: Font errors in PDF output
Yeah, it does not seem like this is limited to PDFs created in Flare - this seems to be a bigger problem with the current version of Adobe Acrobat and embedded fonts. We received an invoice from a contractor yesterday and had exactly the same problem with it.

Just fyi, MadCap Support advised me to use the rwdImageMaps script instead which does what I want without causing conflicts with RequireJS.

Image Map Resizer Script and RequireJS
For my HTML5 output, I wanted to make Flare's Image Maps responsive with this Image Map Resizer script . I added the script to a topic, and it does what it is supposed to do - however, it doesn't jive well with RequireJS, which seems to be necessary for Flare's HTML5 output. In the output, the side ...

"Completed" topics
Hi Community, I'm a rather inexperienced Lingo user and I've encountered the following problem: When I translate a project with a Translation Memory, Lingo marks files in the file list as completed, as long as a translation was applied to every segment - even if some of the translations are only fuz...

Nesting system variables (PageNumber / PageCount)
Hi Flare community, I tried to create two variables for the footers in our different page layouts. Both of them already contain other variables: there is one variable called "VersionInfo" containing the software version and the date the help was updated: [%=Primary.ProductName%] [%=Primary...

Remove unreferenced images from Skin file
I worked on a topic toolbar this morning and did a bit of finetuning on the icons. In the process, new copies of the icons where added to the skin every time I made some minor changes and linked to a new version of the icon. I would like to remove this clutter. According to this help topic , there i...

This option needs something it can be pasted onto - it should be active as soon as you've selected some text that you want to annotate: annotation.png If you click "Insert Annotation", the selected text will be enclosed in an <MadCap:annotation> element, with the comment itself stored as a...

Re: Two-column layout in pdf - margin before first index ite
Thank you, doc_guy and Psider! It was indeed the p.IndexHeading. Seems like it is automatically inserted at the beginning of the index in the build process. I set its margin and padding to 0, and everything looks fine now

Re: Two-column layout in pdf - margin before first index ite
At first, I also thought these might be the case, but in the body section of the topic there is only the index proxy, nothing else. Im pretty sure by now that the strange margin has something to do with the proxy itself. It apparently can not be regulated by styling MadCap:indexProxy though. I tried...

Re: Two-column layout in pdf - margin before first index ite
Thanks for your reply :) I don't think either of the two is the root of the problem. This is what the relevant parts of the page layout look like: page-layout.png The positioning of the two body frames seems to be ok to me. They seem to be aligned and I couldn't find any settings that were different...

Two-column layout in pdf - margin before first index item
Dear Flare community, I'm building a two-column layout for the index in our pdf output. I've created a dedicated Page Layout for the index; it starts with a title page containing the heading in a decoration frame and two body columns, then continues with a page only containing the columns. In the pa...

Re: How do I remove chapter autonumbering on TOC title?
What do you mean by apply the right class to the TOC heading? I couldn't find anywhere to assign it if thats what you mean so I was hoping that Flare had somewhere pre-defined for it. Nothing should be assigned to the TOC heading apart from bits of code I've tried to either get rid of the chapter h...

Re: How do I remove chapter autonumbering on TOC title?
Hi, your CSS looks good to me. Some very basic ideas what might have gone wrong: Are you sure you have applied your CSS to the right medium? Maybe you applied the style for the standard medium and there is another style for h1.TOCheading in the print medium that overwrites what you're doing here? Di...

Re: Problem with SVG images in PDF output
Just in case anyone runs into a similar problem: I solved it, it had more to do with Adobe Illustrator (and my inaptitude with it) than with Flare. When exporting my SVG files from Illustrator, I selected the option "Internal CSS" for styling. When this option is used, Illustrator will div...
