Your issue with the indent going missing on list elements when a condition is applied makes me wonder if there is something else going on... For me, applying a condition does nothing to the content's styling.
How are you applying conditions? I either select a small amount of text within a paragraph ...

Re: Strange Bold Problem in Text with Chrome Browser
I had a play on Friday but although I could see the problem (Chrome 134) I couldn't come up with a reason for the emboldening. I could get the behaviour to repeat even on the topic you said didn't do it. If you play with the dimensions of your browser window you can see the same behaviour for the ...

Re: Body definition in media Print
Hi,
It depends on what the rest of your stylesheet says and what changes you might want to make to your styles for Body in Print documents. From the two styles listed, there is some duplication which isn't necessary. Body is the parent of H1 so there is no need to duplicate a style in H1, only need ...

Re: Removing inline formatting
If it was every heading in a big project I'd probably do a find/replace outside of Flare in a text editor (being careful what I'm looking for and making a backup before proceeding).
In Flare, per topic, you can use the inline formatting removal tool:

Re: Seeking to Up my Game
I'll second that. I like to keep a couple of cut down basic projects (that don't take forever to build) to try out ideas. I've a few targets in my sandbox for HTML5 responsive (even though my work doesn't need HTML5), and PDF in various formats. The Flare certification project idea is a pretty good ...

Reminder when upgrading
Just a reminder, when upgrading your Madcap Flare license to enter in all your license codes for each of the products in your license. I hadn't entered my license for Madcap Capture. I'd forgotton that I'd edited some images in Capture and didn't think I needed to enter the license. Trouble is, when ...

Re: Can't Adjust Column Width in Table
I don't know of a single piece of software that doesn't have quirks and little gotchas in it (including software I've written for myself for my own use!!!). Largely Flare does a pretty awesome job at what it does. For me it's a little too tied to the .NET Framework-y way of doing things and yes ...

Re: Styling for printed topics from web outputs
Nope. Sorry, page layouts are just for PDF output, not printed-on-the-fly-from-a-webpage PDF output. There's only a limited amount of styling you can do with the print medium. The only way to ensure you get properly formatted and organised PDFs would be to create a PDF target and make that PDF ...

that correct auto-numbering won't be visible in the XML Editor or the topic preview pane. It will only be correct in the output as numbering is constructed from the TOC structure.

Re: Content on Master Page won't completely right-align
Use the browser Inspection tool to inspect the elements in your output and see where the extra margin/padding might be being applied. There's so many options that it's difficult to diagnose from outside of your environment. I'd be looking at the interactions between paragraphs, table cells, divs ...

Re: Image quality reduces in word output
I echo Alex's suggestion that when producing print-based output, whether PDF or Word, it's best to create your images in the final output size for the page. That way the output engine of Flare doesn't resize anything and you are most in control of the image fidelity. It's also a good practice to not ...

Ahh ignore my message, though you can use the general search function in split screen mode, and it works. Ctrl-F does work in non-split mode so you're right, it's a bug.

Re: Searching the text editor while in split screen mode
This is because Ctrl-F only searches in an xml document's text (not the tags). It's designed as a quick search through the text of a topic.
To search the tags you have to use the Find/Replace function on the Home Tab, search in the current document and turn on "Find in Source Code" in the Options ...

Re: Depth "mini TOC proxy" depends on "TOC proxy" ?
Is it possible to use a "LIst of" proxy that creates a list of H1 paragraphs and use that instead of the master TOC proxy? That way you can then add mc-heading-level statements to your H2 and H3 styles to get the appropriate depth for your mini-TOCs?

Re: Depth "mini TOC proxy" depends on "TOC proxy" ?
Yes that is true. In restricting heading levels in the TOC using mc-heading-level statements in the CSS for each heading style, you also restrict those that can be displayed in the mini-TOC. A heading must have an mc-heading-level greater than 0 to be displayed in the mini-TOC, same as for the ...

Re: TOC proxy limit to only heading h1
TOC depth in the main TOC proxy is set on the Heading styles themselves. H1-6 styles with an "mc-heading-level" greater than zero will display in the TOC.
So set the following:
h1
{
mc-heading-level: 1;
}
h2,h3,h4,h5,h6
{
mc-heading-level: 0;
}
Will only include the h1 level into the main TOC ...

Re: Text Editor lumping all code together for one topic
I've seen it before when Flare doesn't like the way some things are nested. Sometimes removing or adding a single return can make the code spring between being in a clump or being in a nice ordered layout. Basically every time Flare opens the file in the text editor it is auto formatting the ...

Re: Can you use MadCap Variables in the ConditionTagExpression?
Certainly it's straightforward to have a script external to Flare to create targets. I do this and create my bespoke targets programmatically using Python. The structure of a target file is fairly simple. Or you could create a template target file with a string inside for each variable you want to ...

{page} will return a page number.
{pageref} will return either a page number or some text depending on the proximity of the reference. So it could say "on page 34" or "above" or "below" or "on next page" or "on previous page". See https://help.madcapsoftware.com/flare2023r2/Content/Flare/Nav-Links ...

It's a bit of both. The way the document is displayed is a PDF thing. You're looking for Two Page View and to select the Show Cover Page in Two Page View. The good news is, you can select this initial display option in the PDF Options of your target. In the Initial View section choose Page Layout as ...
