Re: Automatically update online copyright year

Thanks, Trent the Thief, We do use a variable, which is fantastic. The issue is that we usually don't update the online docs until the next release, which might be in Q2. The powers-that-be want us to update ASAP after January 1st. We are looking for a solution that updates automatically online, so ...

Thanks!

Re: Automatically update online copyright year

Hi Northeast, Yes, you are correct in that we don't "need" to update the copyright year, but our product managers want us to do so in our landing pages I tried pasting the script in the .flmsp, but nothing is generated. Flare ignores it. That's why I'm asking for help. TIA Best regards, Yael

Automatically update online copyright year

Hi, Our footers (Side Nav) currently use the copyright year variable that updates automatically every year (© yyyy), but this means that we need to manually repost all of the content on our website every year just because the year changes. I'd like to change the master page, so that the copyright ye...

Re: Single-sourcing images for mobile/web (not PDF)

Hi NorthEast, I decided to troubleshoot from scratch. Literally. I rebuilt the project piece by piece. Guess what the issue is... In the target > Advanced pane > Content to list, we need to select All Content . Our target was set to Content linked directly from the TOC . Content linked directly or i...

Re: Single-sourcing images for mobile/web (not PDF)

Thanks, NorthEast! The paths all use the full Resources path - my sample was just to simplify things. I rebooted (isn't that always the solution?). Then I followed your advice. I deleted what I had, inserted the images afresh, and tried again. I added alt text to all 3 lines, so that I could see wha...

Single-sourcing images for mobile/web (not PDF)

Hi, In HTML5 (side nav) output, I'm trying to display different images depending on the browser size. For mobile phone width (max-width: 650px), I want to show "image A", and for tablets and desktops/laptops width (min-width: 651px), I want to show "image B". How do I do this ple...

Re: Closing an Expandable Section

Hi Dave, I use your JS for closing dropdowns, and it works a charm. Thanks!! For some reason though, I can't get it to work for togglers. Any ideas? Here is my CSS for the "close" part: a.dropDownClose, a.togglerClose { display: block; font-size: 10pt; background: url('../Images/QSG/chevro...

Yup. You're right. Not Flare's problem. I guess I need JavaScript help. I'll contact someone. Thanks, Dave.

Re: Tabs in Side-Nav Output Don't Open from TOC

Hi Dave, TOC nodes are what's in the sidebar. They're the table of contents links. Maybe there's a better word for them? In any case, I'm trying to click a TOC node/link/entry to open the relevant tab within a topic. If a TOC node links to a topic, then when you click the TOC node, that topic opens ...

Tabs in Side-Nav Output Don't Open from TOC

Can you search for the style in your project using the style copied from Text Editor and the "Find in source code option"?

HTML5 - generating Default.html at the Output folder level

Hi, For Side Nav HTML5 output, is it possible to generate the output so that "default.html" is at the same level as the output folder, for example: Default.html Output-folder |_...all of the other folders and files in the target's output Instead of Flare's standard: Output-folder |_ Defaul...

The link opens a Side Nav project, not Top Nav. Not sure why this is listed under Top Nav...
If you use the Side Nav layout, you'll get the side bar navigation.
Regarding the rest of the look and feel, they made many changes to align the Help with their needs.
Good luck!

Re: How to find default MC non-black colors (blue/green/etc.

Got help from MadCap Support. Here's the solution: 1. In Flare, open your stylesheet (CSS) using the Flare Stylesheet Editor ( not the text editor). (You cannot see the MadCap styles in the text editor UNLESS they are modified.) 2. Make sure that all styles are showing and scroll to the MadCap style...

How to find default MC non-black colors (blue/green/etc.)

Hi, How do we locate the default non-black colors (for example, blue or green) in the CSS? We want to replace these with our company's brand colors, but finding them has been a hit-or-miss situation. (Basically, if someone happens to see the color in an output, we fix it. ) According to Dave ...

How to right-align numbers on the left side of the page?

Hi, Standard HTML lists are displayed with right-aligned numbering, which is lovely IMHO: 1. Some text 2. Some text ... 10. Some text However, our company uses mc-auto-numbers for lists instead of standard HTML lists, so our lists look like this: 1. Some text 2. Some text ... 10.Some text that's pus...

Re: How to close the Preview pane

Thanks, Dave, but this doesn't seem to work for the floating Preview pane. Windows probably doesn't recognize it as a separate "window".

So, I'm still looking for a solution...

Thanks in advance for any ideas!

How to close the Preview pane

Hi, I'm using Flare 2018 r2 on Windows 7, but this issue has occurred in previous Flare versions, as well. I love the dynamic preview, but the Preview pane often opens with the title bar above the Windows window, so there is no way to "grab" the title bar to move or close the pane. To fix ...
