.props filenames corrupted in Central
Hi, Last week nearly all the filenames of the .props files in the /Resources/Images/ folder were corrupted after a check-in to Central. For example, it changed the filename "Available Icon.png.props" to "Available Icon.png~RF327461c0.TMP.props". Basically, it added a tilde, "...

Central getting stuck during pushes and syncs (solved)
Hi, Normally, I don't have issues pushing or syncing to Central. However, a few weeks ago I performed a sync and it seemed to work but when the status bar of the push operation got to the end it just got stuck. Please see the screenshot below. flare-push-stuck112222.png I assumed it was taking longe...

Re: Upgraded to Flare 2022. Issues with Central sync
I've finished my tests and while it's basically working since I re-imported our project from Central it has not been without issues. For example, before the upgrade Flare used to prompt me to load the latest files when I opened our project. Unfortunately, that has stopped. I now have to manually pul...

Upgraded to Flare 2022. Issues with Central sync
Hi, I upgraded to Flare 2022 today and the installation seemed to go OK but when I launched our Central project the Source Control tab on the ribbon did not display and the Source Control Explorer was blank. I Opened the Central Explorer panel and clicked Refresh and it seemed to work at first but i...

Re: Unable to publish to SharePoint since 2021 r3 upgrade
our IS says, "it just downloads the home page instead of displaying it in the browser." (We want that specific function: to display in the browser.) MadCap keeps telling us that this is a SharePoint configuration issue, but our IS has followed all of MadCap's suggestions (as well as doing...

Unable to publish to SharePoint since 2021 r3 upgrade
Hi, Prior to upgrading to Flare 2021 r3 I was able to publish to SharePoint. Since upgrading it fails every time and I get a "Publish failed: Value cannot be null" error. I sometimes got that error in the past when I was logged out of SharePoint. (We get automatically logged automatically ...

- Alternately, has anyone begun using Flare on Apple silicon with Parallels? VMWare doesn't support that yet. I haven't tried it but from what I've read it's not supported on any officially-released version of Windows yet. From Endgaget : AAs of today, the only versions of Windows that Parallels ca...

Re: Build Failed: Value cannot be null
It turned out it was because (1) I was working disconnected from source control and (2) we had the targets set to automatically get updates from source control before building. Because I was working disconnected, Flare could not continue with the build as it couldn't get past that gate. Once I clea...

Can you use variables in HTML5 headers?
Hi, We have a very large number of user guides that's continuing to grow so we would like to have the name of the current user guide in the header so users can instantly know which guide the'’re viewing. Here’s a mockup: Mock Up2.png We already have a user guide variable so we like to use that in th...

Can't install Flare 2021 (Solved -- Installed .NET 4.8)

I have created a HTML5 Online Help using Flare and hosted the output in a Sharepoint location. Arijit, Can I ask you how you did this? I can't find anything in MadCap's docs. Re: Flare adding gitignore to .gitignore file
This works a while for me but for some some unknown reason the .gitignore file keeps getting out of sync with the repository. So, when that happens to me I close Flare, open Git Bash, navigate to the folder, and then enter the following: git restore *.gitignore Since upgrading to Flare 2020 I still...

Re: 10086 Build failed: The process could not access the fil
Unfortunately, the problem has been around for a while. Here's a thread dating back to 2014: https://forums.madcapsoftware.com/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=18764&p=138991 For me, it's a two-step process to fix. First, I try deleting the Output folder. If I can't do that then I restart my PC. Brian

Re: Insert link to download pdf in online help?
People can correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's about the browser settings rather than Flare. When I used Google Chrome it always opened PDFs directly in the browser (with a download button in the toolbar), while Firefox gives me a choice between downloading or opening the PDF in the...

Re: Flare adding gitignore to .gitignore file
We ran into the issue where we had to manually add the .gitignore file and add those folders you mentioned to the list ourselves because one day, Flare decided to stop ignoring those files and wouldn't let anyone push their changes to the repository. After manually setting that up, we haven't run i...

Any ideas or suggestions to what I can do? I do not use Framemaker myself, but I need to export to it so one of our white labels customers can take our manuals and work with them in their system. We have an OEM partner that uses FrameMaker so I have the same question. I created a DITA target and th...
