Translations keep getting lost
Hi folks - one of the issues I have with Lingo is the fact that translations, files or individual segments, are getting lost. I just switched to a new computer, set up my git repositories and did some work in Flare (about 10 changes were displayed in git). I then updated the Lingo project and instan...

Folder structure not updated
Hi - I just realized that after a number of updates and exports (tbh I don't know when this problem started) my exported Flare project (en-GB) differs significantly from the source project (de-DE). Besides a number of other issues I have with Lingo, renamed folders in the source project still have t...

Re: Related topics - best practices
Thank you! I use xrefs also (inline and at the end of topics), and I was just wondering if all the other options Flare offers are really needed. For example, maintaining a relationship table never seemed attractive to me. The same applies to keyword links. Xrefs just seem to do the trick. Thanks aga...

Re: Creating a target that does not use the current project
Hey -
has anybody found a solution to this? I'm having the same problem, I want a separate PDF for the individual languages.

Multilingual output URL
Hey folks, is it possible to define the URL created for the individual languages when creating HTML5 output? We are using a build server and I haven't figured out how the final URLs for the individual languages are created. Currently the URL for the source language is SubDomain.CompanyDomain/Product...

Connection to MT provider not possible
Hey folks - we are using DeepL as our MT provider. Until recently everything worked fine, but since yesterday there seems to be a problem on MadCap's server. I get the following error message: Background:System.Exception: The underlying connection was closed: An unexpected error occurred on a send. ...

Re: Light and dark themes for output
Thank you again.
I finally got it to work, but I still don't know how to set the dark mode styles for the side menu. Do I create a dark mode side menu skin? If so, how do I connect it to the dark mode skin?

Re: Light and dark themes for output
Thank you.
I just took a look at the HTML after switching to dark mode from the menu. All the changes made in the skin are displayed but the HTML tag still says "class="_Skins_Light_Mode".

Re: Light and dark themes for output
Thanks for the reply! I just tried it but I must be doing something wrong. The skin's name is Dark Mode. The end URL is .htm?skinName=Dark_Mode I added the following to my stylesheet: html.Dark_Mode h1 { font-size: 1.5em; font-weight: normal; margin-bottom: 8px; padding-bottom: 8px; margin-top: 30px...

Re: Light and dark themes for output
I'm reviving this thread because I'm trying to create a dark theme for my topnav output.
I have enabled the dark mode skin in the target, but still have questions...
- Do I need a separate stylesheet?
- How do I associate this stylesheet with the dark mode skin?
Any help is appreciated.

Approach to documenting optional/licence-dependent features
Hey folks - I am in the process of documenting software that has one general UI which displays different options based on the purchased licence. For example, in dialog boxes there will be additional options to configure if a certain licence is active. Since my plan is to create only one online outpu...

Git: Cannot merge liprjf
Hi folks, when trying to push my Lingo commits to the remote repository, I get the following error message: warning: Cannot merge binary files: Lingo/NameOfSoftwareProduct Translations.liprjf/NameOfSoftwareProduct Translations.liprjdb3 (HEAD vs. 37b4898jd482c81360425c9hz386bd2db007029) Can anybody h...

Re: Content flattening/Filter by target
Thank you. I think I got it completely wrong. My problem was that I didn't know how to translate the overrides for variables. But of course they need to be translated inside each target file.
Thanks anyway.

Content flattening/Filter by target
Hey folks I have (another) beginner question, this time related to content flattening. In my Flare project I have a number of variables for which I created overrides in the individual targets. For example, I have the document title included as a variable, which enables me to use the same title page ...

New project: Which files/folders from Flare do I include?
Hi folks - This may be a super basic question, but I am unsure about which folder and files I should include in my Lingo project. Obviously I would need the content folder, but probably not the png/jpg files. And are there other files apart from the topics and snippets etc. I would need? Do I need t...

Re: Git: "Save per user" and "Save per project"
I just received the following answer from MadCap support, which I'll add here in case anybody else has issues with this: Save per user means that if you're working on multiple projects it will use the same user ID or user account for all projects. Save per project means that you will have a differen...

Git: "Save per user" and "Save per project"
Hi folks - I know this has been asked before (with no answer given), so I'll just try again: What is the difference between the two options in the Bind project dialog? The explanation in the manual doesn't really clear up things for me. I am the sole technical writer, apart from Lingo and Capture/Sn...

Re: Online Help structure for modular products
Four help systems would be possible, but there are also customers that combine two or three modules. Also, there are situations in which certain dialog boxes display different content depending on the licenses of the user. For example, options for encrypting emails may be added to a message tracking...

Re: Online Help structure for modular products
Thank you for your answers! The modules are not intertwined at all. The product is an email gateway, the four modules cover different functionalities: spam protection, encryption, email disclaimer management and sending of large files. Having only one output would definitely be the easiest, but this...

Online Help structure for modular products
Hello Flare users I am currently developing a new help system for our company. Up to this point, only a few PDF manuals have been created by my predecessor, and as the first official Technical Writer I got to choose a new tool (obviously opted for Flare) and start from scratch. Our product is made o...
