Publishing only the fils linked from the toc?
I have recently started working on a Flare project that includes many topics that are currently of no interest to me. (Think of products shared across different brands, and one brand only having a very limited set of these shared products...) When I publish my output, the output folders contain all ...

Re: CSP and CSP-report-only Headers in Flare Output
Many thanks for your responses - and yes, on further investigation, I understand that it is best fixed at a server-level, rather than adding metadata into each topic/resource from the Flare end.
Which is good, because it means I can hand the fix off to another team

CSP and CSP-report-only Headers in Flare Output
Hi, All, We output our HTML5 documentation from Flare to a public "portal". Our Product Security Incident Response Team (PSIRT) have just scanned our Docs subdomain, and have found that the docs portal has no CSP and CSP-report-only headers. Where should I start looking to be able to resol...

Multiple product lines on a single Docs Portal
Quick overview of situation: Company A use flare, but mainly to generate PDFs. They want a Docs Portal. Company B has a Flare-based Docs Portal. Company B is purchased by Company A. What is the best way to create a single site that documents both products? - Have separate Flare projects that output ...

Adding Drop-down text breaks my builds
I have an HTML Top-Nav output. I'm experimenting with adding some Drop-down or Expanding text. However I add the dropdown/expanding (either by creating an empty <p> tag and then clicking Insert > Drop-Down Text, or by creating a heading and some text and then clicking Drop-Down Text) when I build, i...

Re: Adding style to 404 topic
Just to add to my confusion - if I deliberately browse to the 404 file, then it is correctly formatted, but if it is called because there is a missing topic, then the formatting is missing!

Adding style to 404 topic
I have a docs portal based on TopNav. I have a 404 page (index.html). If someone follows a "dead" link, the 404 topic is displayed, but without any of styles or MasterPage layout applied. All other pages appear with the relevant styling. I've compared the 404 topic with a working topic in ...

Sync Navigation elements not working
Hi, all, In my Flare project, all my HTML5 targets include the Advanced | Synchronize navigation elements with TOC entries option being set. I configured my project this way, as my product has several workflows that include some of the same setup procedures. However, if I'm navigation the output, wh...

Re: Is it normal for switching branches to take 5+ minutes?
This is something I'm currently experiencing (swapping GitLab branches taking 5-10 minutes) in Flare 2021.

Re: Search freezes, search filters don't appear
NCLayton801, I've started having reports of this problem on my various help systems as well... some search strings return a list of "hits" very quickly, but for others, I just get an indefinite spinner. Looking in Chrome tools, I also see a couple of "jquery errors" when this spi...

Operator/Administrator content
Hi, I'm currently using HTML5 TopNav outputs to a website for my corporate product docs. Thinking about the users, I have two "classes" of user - Administrators and Operators. Is there a way that I can add a "switch" into the web design to filter the topics shown based on a <MadC...

Re: Top Nav layout mods
Progress! I've found an entry in my home page html: MadCap:onlyLocalStylesheets="True"> Changing this to MadCap:onlyLocalStylesheets="False"> and the Header appears the same for Home and Content pages. Result. (But in true Flare style, I now have to re-style all the homepage cont...

Re: Top Nav layout mods
Dave, As far as I can tell, the content pages seem happy to take the header definitions from the .css files. I have a contentHeader.css file, and any changes I make in it are reflected in the output. However, for the Home page, Flare seems intent on taking all info from the Top-Nav skin, rather than...

Re: Top Nav layout mods
Many thanks, Dave, that was most helpful. However, as is always my experience with Flare and templates - fix one problem, reveal another! I have set up the Top-Nav header so that on my content pages, each of the three components (Logo, Horizontal menu, and Search) are nicely aligned. However, on the...

Annoying area at bottom of screen
I'm currently building a docs portal using a Top-Nav format. However, no matter what height settings I use across all my style sheets and skins, the pages always have a vertical scroll bar, as the "page" is always taller than the browser window. Using the Chrome Dev Tools, it appears that ...

Re: Powered by MadCap backlink-container
Thanks, Nita, It was also starting to drive me mad working out how to switch this "Powered by MadCap(R) Software" off. Now for double points, is there any way that, rather than just "switching it off" I can customize what it displays? (I like that it is always glued to the bottom...

Did anyone find or provide a solution as to how to achieve the following header layout? I know that this post is a few year...

Re: Removing Search Bar Drop Down - HTML5 output
I have the same question - how to remove the Search Filter dropdown from my brand-new, creating it straight from the MadCap TopNav templates project. When I look in the Target > Advanced > Search filters , the only option is Default , and the edit button is greyed out. So, in a brand new project, ho...

10086 Build failed: The process could not access the file
Ok, this has got my head well and truly spun! Friday, I was working on some html5 outputs in Flare, and all was well, and I successfully built and published the output to a couple of projects with no issues. This morning, I cannot build anything (HTML5 or PDF) and get a 10086 Build failed: The proce...

Docs Portal behind a login
Hi, all, Slightly quirky request here, but... The company I work for and another are merging. All my docs are publically available, in HTML5, via a Flare-created docs portal. The docs from the "other half" of the company are currently in PDF and that part of the product line (cybersecurity...

Re: PDF Templates
I think I've found the issue... Flare expected every topic to start with an H1 heading... but I wanted it to start with a graphic...
Solution: Wrap the graphic in H1 tags, and define a class to use the spacing I need.
Then, Flare is happy to carry on as I wanted it to!

PDF Templates
OK, so I need to create a "white paper" PDF template. The requirements are: 1. A Title page with a generic image, corporate logo, and title. I have this part working nicely! 2. A first content page that has a header, a full-width space for an image (from the content, not the template), ben...
