Re: Saving word output...

I just had a very similar issue and came to check the forums for advice. This helped me as well. In my case, apparently something in the process triggered a Windows security alert in the background (one of the page layout XML files supposedly looked suspicious) and until I minimised all the other wi...

Re: Flare builds blocked by Bitdefender as "Suspicious Activity"

IT made a couple of unsuccessful attempts to apply an exception to BitDefender for madbuild.exe. I then managed to solve this by using the "Repair" option on the Flare installation. I assume a file or file registration had become corrupted somehow. The problem was probably quite specific t...

Re: MadCap suddenly closing

For what it's worth, I fixed my problem by doing a "Repair" on the Flare installation.

Even if it's not the same issue in your case, that seems worth a try. One of my files must have become corrupted, or a file registration lost somehow, or something like that.

Re: MadCap suddenly closing

Flare started abruptly closing during the build process today, for me. Apparently it's being killed by BitDefender for "suspicious behaviour". I started a thread about it above. If that were your problem, I would assume that there would be a visible notification, though. And my issue must ...

Re: Turning off the Expand button in search micro content

Ah, thanks! A long time ago now, and my eventual workaround solution was fine... but that sounds like it matches what I wanted. I'll try it, thank you @joosilver12.

Re: Flare builds blocked by Bitdefender as "Suspicious Activ

Bitdefender seems to auto-update several times a day, and there doesn't seem to be anything special about the last update - so possibly it's just got a bit overzealous and will fix itself on the next update...!

Flare builds blocked by Bitdefender as "Suspicious Activity"

Hello, I think this is most likely a problem with Bitdefender rather than Flare but I thought I'd see if anybody else has encountered it. I have suddenly (since yesterday) become unable to build my Flare projects because Bitdefender abruptly kills the whole process half-way through, citing "sus...

Re: Animated gifs on WebHelp Toolbar

Just to update this thread - I found my problem with the "Generate resized copies of scaled images" setting. Apparently if your CSS is using max-width, rather than width, then turning this setting off has no effect and Flare continues to regenerate images. This is a bug, but you can get ro...

Re: "Generate resized copies of scaled images" behaviour

I've raised the max-width issue and the width issue as two separate bugs - thanks for your suggestion. (edit) Ah, is that different between width and max-width? max-width didn't need "px" after it... also, that CSS seemed to work OK when I tried it in a hand-written HTML file. I'll have an...

Re: "Generate resized copies of scaled images" behaviour

Hmm, thanks. I am using max-width, so I must be seeing the bug you mention - I'll raise it, as you say. However, I switched to width: 800 and it didn't help. With "Generate resized images..." switched on, it looks the same as before. With width: 800 and "Generate resized images...&quo...

"Generate resized copies of scaled images" behaviour

Hello, I have a question about the expected behaviour of the "Generate resized copies of scaled images" option in the Target -> Advanced settings. I have image styles in my project that set a maximum width for images in the output. (max-width: 800). Let's say I have an image on the source ...

Re: Flare 2019 and Git Hub - Keep losing the binding

I've been having similar problems. My Flare project is using source control but I've actually been using gitHub Desktop to do the commits and pushes. I've found that it is only pushing a subset of changes for some reason - often it seems fine for any files I've added, but misses changes to existing ...

Re: Animated gifs on WebHelp Toolbar

Thanks doloremipsum, I missed your reply at the time but I just discovered and unchecked that option myself, expecting it to have the desired effect. I was coming back to post because it didn't actually work for me. I'd got round the issue in the first place by not resizing the image in the CSS (I c...

Re: Styles not picking up correctly in new release?

We've worked out the issue (thanks to one of the front-end devs for help). The update has changed the name / structure of the "main" class that we were hanging that style from. "main" is now a role and there's a class further up called "main-section" instead. After a bi...

Styles not picking up correctly in new release?

Hello everybody, I installed the latest 2019 r2 version this morning (15.1.7283.32587 - 10/12/2019:1811 - 64-bit). My output (which was fine on Friday) no longer seems to be picking up the styles correctly - most noticeably it's not picking up the maximum width on the main body container: main.body-...

Re: Animated gifs on WebHelp Toolbar

I've just run into this issue too. It appears to happen (in my case) because I've got a style applied to the images to resize them. Weirdly, this causes Flare to actually regenerate an image at the "new" size - looking at the output, it's not using my original gif but a new one with a size...

Re: Turning off the Expand button in search micro content

Under Skin Styles it looks like all they did was change the maximum height to larger. Perhaps there's a bug with percentage values. You could try a fixed pixel height to see how that goes. Yes, you're right - it works with a maximum height of 500 pixels (picked arbitrarily) and the button doesn't s...

Turning off the Expand button in search micro content

Hello, I've just started to implement micro content in our search results. We want to have the whole of the micro content snippet visible at once at the top of the results, so that the user doesn't need to expand the display. (I'll make sure it's a suitable length by hand). I'm using the Side Naviga...

Re: Linking to a TOC from another project - novice question

In case anybody else has a similar question, the video that Nita linked has a suggested approach that will work for Top Nav and Side Nav targets, starting at 46 minutes. In summary, rather than using the runtime merge, you can create import files in the "master project" (or "build pro...

Re: Linking to a TOC from another project - novice question

Aha, thank you - I had indeed not scrolled far enough down the notes to spot that information! I created a new target in the master project using the Tripane skin, and when I build that one, the San Diego project shows up as I'd expected - which answers my second question, whether both projects have...

Linking to a TOC from another project - novice question

Hello, I'm relatively new to Flare and am experimenting with different ways to organise our projects. My question is about global linking / runtime merging of projects, which is related to importing so I hope this is the right forum. I have a test project based on one of the standard templates, and ...
