Re: Global configuration for targets?

This doesn't seem to be the normal way of doing it, but just thought I'd throw it out there - for our PDFs, I just use a single target for each brand and change the TOC whenever I need to publish a different document. This allows me to keep all of our docs in a single project so they can share topic...

Re: using Flare's built-in templates-locating & editing the TOC proxy

When that option is turned on, Flare automatically generates the print table of contents with no need for the table of contents proxy. If you want to modify that page, where it is positioned and so on you need to turn off that target setting, then create a new topic with a table of contents proxy an...

Re: Breadcrumb trail is not linked

I think this could happen if you have menu items which don't have topics attached - i.e. your TOC contains unlinked books. Those headings form part of the structure, but they don't have anything to link to. If that is what is going on, you could solve this by linking topics to those books, although ...

Re: Force breadcrumbs to load before topic content?

I have my breadcrumbs and toolbar icons in a div together - they're sitting next to each other using Flare's responsive formatting, although that might not be necessary. Essentially the toolbar loads in earlier and is larger than the breadcrumbs, so when the breadcrumbs load in there's already space...

Re: Overlapping divs

I believe you have a couple of options here: 1. Put all of the text, including the note, in the same div and float the image to the right of that. That will make sure the note remains "in bounds" and doesn't attempt to span the full width of the page. 2. Give the note style "clear: ri...

Re: Queries with highlighted text

Yes, this is a bit of a limitation of code snippets... You might have to choose between highlighting and code colours. If you use <pre> tags, you can add span classes to the text like normal, but you don't get the colours, whereas code snippets give you colours but no ability to highlight. I've also...

Re: Facing pages and cross references

@zappy0, you can alter the "on facing page" text by creating a Language Skin - this particular text is under Print and Online, called CrossReferenceOnFacingPage. You can change it to whatever you like. You almost certainly are seeing "on facing page" because you have L/R page lay...

Re: Thought Process about Importing TOCs

If you want to import a TOC and all of its related files, I think the best way is actually to import the target with Auto-Include enabled. That will grab the stylesheets, microcontent, skins and so on as well as the TOC, topics and snippets. But I agree with NorthEast that it would be better to have...

Re: Template Import Question

There's nothing special about the templates, they're just normal Flare projects! You can download the template and copy the files you want out of it (in this case, probably the home page and the specific home page stylesheet, although you may need some other assets). I'd recommend copying the files ...

Re: Unlink Links in PDF Output

Ok, I have an idea but it's a little off the beaten track... Maybe ( maybe ) you can use an attribute selector in your stylesheet to select for <a> tags which have a specific href format. See more about those here: https://learn.shayhowe.com/advanced-html-css/complex-selectors/#attribute-selectors T...

Re: Pre-Build batch commands

I have limited experience with build commands, but one major difficulty is that they cannot handle spaces in filepaths at all. So if the [USER] is "Firstname Lastname", that space is probably preventing Flare from finding the path to the batch file. Although if that's the case, I might exp...

Are you using periods between each letter of your acronyms? e.g. N.A.S.A instead of NASA. I can imagine that might cause the search to fail, but I don't know for sure.

Re: Crossreferencing snippets - Content traceability

@Rob I don't think it's a good idea to wrap snippetBlock in a span - then you're trying to nest a block element inside an inline element and things get weird.

Could you use a div.snippet for your snippetBlocks and span.snippet for snippetTexts?

Re: Heading auto-numbers WITHOUT using stylesheets

As a note, if you're using Lingo to do your translations it *will* present the strings in the stylesheet that need translation. I can confirm that this includes autonumbers.

But if you're not using Lingo, the easiest way to do it is probably Nita's suggestion :)

Re: Can we apply a condition to part of a TOC?

You might be looking for snippet conditions: https://help.madcapsoftware.com/flare2022/Content/Flare/Conditions/Other-Activities/Using-Snippet-Conditions2.htm Or perhaps snippet variables. In this case I think you would create a snippet to hold the entire content of the shared page, and two topics t...

Re: Two different dropdown hotspot styles?

UPDATE! I figured out the problem: I had inserted all dropdown hotspots in <p> tags to control spacing. Those were messing with the dropdown formatting. I'd still be interested in others' thoughts about implementing multiple dropdown hotspot styles. If you still want to keep those p tags, you can u...

Re: Modify stop words list for HTML5 output

With the help of a developer who was conveniently sitting nearby, I've found an alternative solution to this problem using powershell. There are three components to this solution: 1) StopWords.txt, which contains a list of words which I need to add to the stop words list. I stored this in the Flare ...

Hmm, interesting question. I can't see the images you've posted (is anyone else having this problem?) but I think I understand what you mean. Have you inserted the new header into your master page / template page? If so, it would make sense that it only appears within the "master page" box...

Re: Common single project or multiple projects with GPL?

It'll all depend on your specific use case and workflow - there's no right or wrong way to do it. The benefit of having everything in one project is that you can share all of the content as much as you want without messing around with the extra layer of the global project. The benefit of multiple pr...
