We're just getting into publishing .epub format, and so far it looks like InDesign is our best starting place, but we like Flare, use it a lot, and I know it's got the basic building blocks for xml and xhtml that epub uses.
Any plans to create an epub output option from Flare?

Re: Broken Links Even After Flare 'Updates Files"
It's not just a Framemaker improt problem. Our project originally started in Flare 1.0 importing files from Robohelp. Lots of changes later, in Flare 5, we still find renaming and updating links to fail occasionally. Of course, our project has at least 1,000 pages/topics, so make of that what you wi...

Re: Windows 2000 with IE 5.5 WebHelp not opening
We have another help project in the same app that's opening fine, generated with Flare 4.1 and it opens fine. Mine was in 4.2 and is having this problem.

Re: Windows 2000 with IE 5.5 WebHelp not opening
Finally got virtual PC to test this myself, on a Windows 2000 SP4 IE 5.5 virtual machine. From within the app, the help file opens, but doesn't display properly. I see my skin, with panes defined for navigation on the left, and content on the right, but both are blank. I see the name of the default ...

Windows 2000 with IE 5.5 WebHelp not opening
We've had a number of issues trying to get WebHelp to display properly on Windows 2000 machines using IE. The latest test uses help generated in Flare 4.2, in which I really haven't changed anyting substantial, but our installation guy finds he can't open the help from the app when it's installed lo...

Re: Force Refresh of cached search files?
Thanks! I'll pass this on to our script guru and see what he comes up with.

Force Refresh of cached search files?
Arg, the forum ate my post. Here's another try: Some users testing our published WebHelp are getting weird results because their browsers have cached old versions of Search_Chunk and other output files from previous visits. Obviously, we have lots of files that keep the same filename and size, but h...

Re: Webhelp "Build" Creating New Images
Thanks, Lisa, I'll take a look. I haven't resized anything in the WYSIWYG view, so I don't know why it would apply, but it's worth a shot.

Webhelp "Build" Creating New Images
Something very weird happening: Building my usual WebHelp target, and suddenly the Output folders are spontaneously generating some copies of a few images, adding the px dimensions before the file extensions. Example: in source Content\Resources\Images folder, I've got a file called button-resources...

Re: Is a topic included in the TOC?
You know I love Flare, but, seriously? This is still your response?
Frankly, it's ridiculous to suggest that we buy another product to get basic functionality like this. It should be built into Flare. Soon!

Closing a popup window?
We're putting links in our Webhelp to online video tutorials. I've been trying to create them as popups, so I can specify a window size, etc., but the default popups in Flare don't come with "Close" buttons. When a user clicks off the popup window, the popup hides, but the audio keeps play...

tutorial vs. reality
LOL - yes, we're already anticipating the tech support calls saying, \"so, I'm in the program, but I don't see the orange bubbles that tell me what to type...\"my assumption is that some users get confused when the real deal looks different

Ramon, I concur on #3, 4,and 7, but the others haven't actually been an issue. On your #5, I'd actually disagree - our demos are aimed at less sophisticated users, and the more we can draw their attention to a particular spot, action, etc. the better. (Besides, our brand is currently orange, so it s...

I Heart Mimic
now that I have your attention, Richard:
ok, so it still has a bunch of bugs and shortcomings (Flash output, anyone?) but now that I'm back in here, I just have to say that I am REALLY enjoying Mimic. It is a great product, with a lot of potential. (hint hint - fix those bugs!!! please!!)![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)
