Yeah, that was my original thought, too. But I decided to ask here first, perhaps I am just missing something.

Synchronization and Commits SNA*U

Hi all, I am using Flare on two different laptops (work and home). I recently resumed working on a project after a few months. I committed the changes on laptop A. I was unable to synchronize from Central with laptop B. I checked the files on Central, and the last commit was 5 months ago. The status...

Autonumbers & H1, H2, H3, H4....

Hi folks, how can I make sure the autonumbers do not creep into the heading text? The margin-left and mc-autonumber-offset for p, H1, H2, H3 is currently 20mm. I guess expl1.png I will have to increase the margin-left by another 10mm, to 30mm? h1 { line-height: 130%; mc-auto-number-format: '{chapnum...

PDF Build Time

Hi folks,

does anyone know why it can suddenly take approx. 30 minutes to build a PDF? My project output is PDF only at this time and moment. Flare takes several minutes to add the PDF of each individual chapter. My build time for 100 page manual has gone to something like 35 minutes.

Re: Snippets and Translation

What tools are you using for the translation? If you're using Madcap Lingo, it is definitely possible to translate snippets as separate files - Lingo translates the source files, including snippets. Alternatively, in Lingo you can select specific snippets to convert to text. However, it sounds like...

However, I used the steps described in those links that I put in my original post, and voila!

Snippets and Translation

Hi folks, I have a translation coming up soon. The project has several warning messages. The warning messages are based on specific risks and legal requirements. As they are (nearly) identical for most products, I implemented them as snippets to reuse them flexibly. However, when exporting for trans...

Shredder, I think you are taking 88Schwind far afield. robdocsmith has offered the correct solution, which is to use paragraphs within list items. 88Schwind, you can find the solution covered in Flare's help: https://help.madcapsoftware.com/flare2021r2/Content/Flare/Lists/Main-Activities/Working-Wi...

Re: Numbered list across table rows

Hi, I am trying to create a checklist to be used to deploy our software in PDF/HTML5 formats. I created a table where I list one task per row, and I'd like the numbered list to continue numbering across each row. I created the class ol.TableBullet and applied it, but it is restarting at 1 in each r...

Hi all, I trying to edit values in my primary style sheet (it's the only style sheet in my project), using the advanced view. I have three mediums open (default, non-print, and print). My Flare version is 2021 r2. I cannot type numbers in the fields in the stylesheet editor. I cannot use the Delete...

Re: How do I get paragraphs to follow the indention of Headi

This is driving me nuts. There is no way that something as simple as indentation of a style should be so difficult. I have an ordered list, but I want to create a style called stepresult. I want it to align with the text (not the number) of the previous step, and I don't need this particular item n...

Build Nr. as a Variable

Hi!

Is it possible to inject the build number from Madcap Central into a PDF, e.g. as a variable? This would be very helpful for managing/ storing/ keeping tabs on versions of the different manuals.

MiniTOC & Autonumbers

minitocknocks.png I would like to add a MiniToC to longer chapters for a printed manual. However, the MiniToC so far seems to resist most attempts at formatting it. Re: Tab Frame with vertical rl text

Yes you can. In the Page Layout Editor, right click the frame and choose Rotate. The contents will rotate with the frame. This is true for Decoration, Header, Footer and normal Body frames. Cheers, Rob That worked, thanks! It seems I was having a case of the Fridays and didn't right-click to see if...

Re: font size - cannot reduce on manual TOC page

The entries in the table of contents are adjusted using the p.TOC1 - p.TOCx styles. p.TOC1 is equivalent to H1, p.TOC2 is equivalent to H2, and so on. You can adjust them in the stylesheet editor. Double-click on your style sheet Select "advanced view" Go to "p" (paragraph styles...

I was unable to replicate that. Re: ToC Chapter to Heading Space

Hi, Autonumbering formats are specified usually in the heading style in a property like the below: mc-auto-number-format: 'GH:{n}.{n+} '; The spacing is set in the autonumber string. Spaces in this string don't collapse into a single space like they do in normal html, so you could change the defini...

Many ways to skin this cat... I've used tables with left/right/centre aligned content as appropriate, or DIVS with float left/right positioned content. I've even used a spacing graphic to push stuff around where I wanted it to go (not an ideal solution by any means!) Whatever works for you and is e...

Actually I managed to solve the problem myself after experimenting around a bit. My footer is 3 paragraphs high. Adding a second column gives me 2x 3 paragraphs. If you toggle and activate the tags, you can create six empty paragraphs. Then just put what you need where you want it. See the image. Fo...

Columns in a Footer

Hi,

I am wondering how to use columns in the footer frame of a page layout. I would like to add a variable and have it displayed on the opposite side of the page number. Theoretically I could create a CSS rule, but I presume there is a another method in Flare...?
