Re: Webhelp and IE10
I was experiencing this problem recently for a Web help system deployed on a Web server, when the help was built by Flare 6. Other Web help systems on the same Web server, built by Flare 9 (whatever the most recent minor version is) were fine. I have a batch file that builds the help systems automat...

Re: Not Working: context-sensitive help in IE10
I am also experiencing the problem that when I use HTML5 help with IE, and try to activate a context-sensitive help page it takes me to the welcome page, not to the specific page. IE does also prompt me to enable Active X controls, which is a lesser issue but still one I'd like to have a fix for. My...

Re: WebHelp not displaying in Chrome
Hi all For me, Chrome only has the Skype Click to Call extension, which is not enabled. There are obviously a lot of network settings but nothing looks untoward. The -allow-file-access-from-files solution that Marvin suggested is unfortunately not suitable for the situation I'm in. That is, I distri...

Re: WebHelp not displaying in Chrome
I have got mark of the web enabled, and I am experiencing the same problem that Chrome will not display local Web help anymore.
Unfortunately for me I have a release in 2 and a half working days. If anyone's got a workaround, you're my new BFF.

Re: Outputting from File List to Excel
Hi Nita I do have access to Flare but I haven't applied file tags or condition tags in Flare. The 'Sent for translation' status got applied to the files in Lingo when I used the Create Bundle command in Lingo. I've been liking the fact that I don't have to send the files back to Flare at the stage o...

Outputting from File List to Excel
I wanted to send the File List to Excel and couldn't see an obvious way to do so. However I have found a way to do it that isn't obvious, so I'm sharing it. The immediate reason for doing this was to give 3 reviewers a list of the files that are not yet translated (i.e. Status: Sent for Translation)...

Re: Connecting to remote database with SQL Server authentication
I've got some information from MadCap support that all users have to be in the same network domain to access the SQL database.
So I will ask my users to each work with local TM databases.

Connecting to remote database with SQL Server authentication
Hi all Does anyone know if it is possible to make Lingo connect to a SQL Server database, on another machine, using SQL Server authentication? My situation is that three of our staff in another office want to use a Lingo to vet a translation. We want them to all be able to use the same translation m...

Re: Word build has error loading library/DLL
Hi I just experienced this error myself. Flare and Word 2010 had been working happily together until recently. I had installed parts of Office 2003 and Office 2007 and then uninstalled them. (The reason was to test out some unrelated software that plugs in to various versions Word and Powerpoint.) A...

Re: 'Loading' image remains displayed after search
MadCap Support (Alvaro) said: "I was able to reproduce this issue and have passed it on to our development team. Hopefully, this issue will be addressed in the next version of Flare. (If this is address before, I will contact you with a patch or it will be available as a "Dot" release...

Re: 'Loading' image remains displayed after search
Hi Laura I am using IE 8.0, Firefox 3.6.15 and Chrome 10.0.648.204. I get the same behaviour in all of them (with local WebHelp built from Flare 7). I would be interested to know if other people are experiencing this. Maybe it's not Flare, it's me. p.s. I have had a look at those 2 topics now and tr...

'Loading' image remains displayed after search
After upgrading to Flare 7, I have done the following 1) Built WebHelp output. 2) Viewed the output locally. 3) Searched my WebHelp system for a phrase within quotes that has a space in it, for example "the following". The text "Loading" and a progress bar appeared (as expected)....

Re: Document title in footer or header
Thanks wclass. Your solution is the better one and in fact I realise it will work for me too. For some reason I had got it into my head that you could only set variables in the variable set file but of course you can set them in the target as well.

Document title in footer or header
I'm interested to hear if anyone else has a need to put a document title into the header or footer of PDFs (and Word docs) built from Flare and if so how are you achieving it? We are about to do this. Probably we will edit the TITLE tag of the first topic in the document and then add the System.Titl...

Re: Feedback Server Compatibility with Load-Balanced Servers
I don't have the ultimate solution here but here's one approach that may turn up a solution: 1. back up the registry on the feedback server 2. uninstall the feedback server 3. reinstall the feedback server, and select the remote server as the Server Name At this point I expect it will create a new f...

Re: Cannot gets topic comments working
Hi Pam Just a few thoughts. On the target you need to make sure that the Current Configuration section is filled in with some sensible looking values such as in my attachment (I have blanked a couple of fields above it deliberately though). On the skin, Feedback tab, as well as 'Display topic commen...

Hi Pam
I think this one is in Flare, in the skin, Styles > Dialog > RegisterUser > Messages, Registration or RegistrationSubmit.

James

Re: Feedback Server v3 - 'Index was out of Range' error
We have discovered a solution to this problem. The steps for IIS 7.5 are: 1. Start IIS 2. On Default Web Site, right-click and choose Edit Bindings. 3. Add a binding for http, all unassigned IP addresses, port 80 4. Restart the default web site. 5. Open Feedback Server Admin and click Test for the w...

Feedback Server v3 - 'Index was out of Range' error
Hi all I installed Feedback Server v3 on a Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit machine. After that I clicked Test in the 3 sections in Feedback Server Admin and they all worked. However something has changed and now when I click Test in the WebPage section (and the SMTP section) I get an 'Index was out of...

Re: Improving Webhelp Search Function
Dave, good point about the index terms. (I also do not know what weight they have though.) mc-heading-level was my idea, not MadCap's. I think you are right - when I remove mc-heading-level from the class definition in the stylesheet and then rebuild, the search ranking is the same as it was before ...

Re: Improving Webhelp Search Function
I asked MadCap support how the system determines how search results are ranked in WebHelp and I've been told that when a search term occurs in the <TITLE> element, it is given the most weight, and if it occurs in any heading (h1 to h9) it is given lesser weight. The hierarchy that shows how much wei...

Re: Submit feedback dialog getting cutoff
We found that it only occurred when trying to leave a comment for a long topic (i.e. a topic where you had to page down) AND you were adding a comment by clicking the Add Comment button at the bottom of the page rather than opening the accordion item and clicking Add Comment in that. I reported it t...

Re: registration (user profile) problems
Hi Richard, No not yet. I'll ask my manager about that. We are in the middle of collecting lots of useful feedback on our help systems from our users (with feedback v1) so I will also have to see if he wants to go the upgrade at this time. I would like to test it on another machine at least though. Ta
