Send me a PM with your email address and locale and I'll send you and invitation. Is this still a valid string? I'm trying to join the Flare Slack channel (or contact an Administrator), and can't seem to figure out how to do that.

Re: Styles not applying to topics
Close Flare, delete the Analyzer folder and restart Flare. I know, I know -- Have you tried turning it off and then turning it back on? That's always my first action, and it does work some of the time. If it helps, we have been seeing some of the same sort of behaviors. It feels like it takes time f...

Re: SharePoint Explorer with 365 in Flare 2018 not working
I went through this about a year and a half ago. It really isn't a Microsoft problem or a MadCap problem. It is a site configuration issue at your company. I had to go through a security review, which included having MadCap provide information about Flare. It was so long and laborious that we abando...

Imported Word documents wrapped in an ordered list
Imported Word documents are wrapped in a from before the hed to the end of the document. No numbering, just the ordered list tags. Any idea what's going on?

Re: Use of magnifier script code
It works for me. Did you use Insert > Script to insert the script code? <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <html xmlns:MadCap="http://www.madcapsoftware.com/Schemas/MadCap.xsd"> <head> <style> * {box-sizing: border-box;} .img-magnifier-container { position:relative;...

Re: Text wrapping in autonumbered headings
We use autonumber heds for chapters in our user manuals. You need to set an offset and a position for the autonumber in the style.
To achieve this: we set this in the AutoNumber style area:

We don't use Git within Flare. We experienced too many issues, some along the lines of what you're describing. Also, we don't store the local files in a location that OneDrive, Google Drive, etc back up.

You will need to edit the existing cross-reference formats or create new ones that don't have {pageref} in the definitions.

Re: Common single project or multiple projects with GPL?
Nita's method is along the lines of what we use. While each model can share a lot of the same content, there are differences that need to be maintained and using folders like Synergy-HTX, Synergy-Neo, etc. makes content easy to find and include in a target. We use a "Shared-Content" folder...

Re: Common single project or multiple projects with GPL?
We take the single-project approach. So, we have five different models of one product line. We always create output from the Main branch, based on conditions and variables of each model's target. Since the models share a lot of the same content, we find this works well.

Re: How to reduce spacing between footnotes?
Place the cursor in the footnote at the bottom of the page (or wherever it appears) and look in the Style box to see what style is in use. style.png In mine it is MadCap:footnote.Block . Make changes to properties of MadCap:footnote.Block in the CSS. For example, reduce the value of line-height or c...

I just place the gifs as images. You only see the first frame in the editor. Preview or build the output to view the animation. Or am I misunderstanding what you did?

Re: Word Output displaying CSS
Well, that's annoying! I can think of two workarounds until MadCap fixes it:
You can search for {color red}Review: {/color} in Word and replace it with Review: in red.
Or, you can output the PDF and then convert the PDF to Word.

I can confirm that this is happening. :( I opened a support ticket. We will have to go through each xref in the PDF and edit with Acrobat. All fixed, at least for us. One of the authors (retired a while ago) did some html/javascripting (really bizarre stuff) that caused the problem. If you are expe...

Re: 2021 R3 Source Control is Broken
It looks like the issues with Git (and other source control) and Flare are resolved with the latest release, Flare 2022. You can now disable the bind detection and disable source control providers, both of which seemed to cause the problems we were having. I spent time this weekend testing copies of...

Corporate IT got back to me on this. Madcap Flare needs to go through a security review. I'll need to fill out a form and questionnaire and so will Madcap software.
