thanks for your answer. If this is indeed the use of this variable format, then yes, it makes sense. I contacted the support team for them to confirm whether it is intended or a bug that needs to be fixed. I'll post their answer here to keep a trace of this.

Hi both, thanks for your answers. Turned out that there were specific settings to use in Trados to make the tags appear properly in the target Lingo XLF. The big different from Trados 2015 and 2021 is that the phrasing is different and an option that had to be checked before has to be unchecked now ...
