Re: Sending Topics For Review (I can't get to work)
Ideally, MadCap would create a system where you select a range of topics or section of the table of contents and create a "review" version of a Word document. Then, using the same sort of Review work flow currently in place you could email this Word document out for review. Reviewers make ...

Re: Capture Active Window Crops Top of Image in Vista
Actually, after some testing I've discovered that it's the software I'm authoring content for that is creating the problem. I don't know exactly why, but none of the windows captures correctly in vista for this piece of software, but other programs (i.e. Firefox, Illustrator, etc) all capture fine. ...

Re: First Page not taking
I've had so many issues with PDF targets that I'm redeveloping a Word target so I can be sure I'm going to get somewhat consistent results (the irony of this isn't lost on me, by the way). In the past I've had really good experiences with Madcap's customer service, and they've been super nice this g...

Re: Bitmap region is locked
Customer support provided me with a patch they thought might help with the OutOfMemory problem. I installed it, but haven't seen any difference.

The first page not working in a Word target was never really the problem. Sorry.

Re: Tables dropping formatting
Okay. I've discovered something new. I think the problem with some tables dropping formatting is coming from my TOC. Let me explain. Let's say my content explorer looks something like this. Content >Animals Cats 1-A Dogs 1-B Conclusion >Fruits Bananas Kumquats Introduction And my TOC looks like this...

Override Page Layouts
So, when Flare 4 came out I dove right into the new long document publishing support. I set up some snazzy, multi-body-frame, page layouts with the intention of producing strait to pdf targets. Never again would I have to open a project in Word! After several weeks I'm beginning to think that pdf ta...

Re: Bitmap region is locked
I did a quick google search for the error message, and it appears on some non Flare related DOTNet and Visual Basic forums. I was quickly out of my depth. I also routinely get an "Out of Memory" error with is equally frustrating. I have a pretty powerful PC to handle the graphic design sid...

Re: Bitmap region is locked
Indeed! It is a multi quad core intel PC running Vista 32. The problem actually has increased in frequency recently. Now I'm lucky to get one out of every five publication attempts to go through. I've got a support ticket in the works, but haven't heard back from them yet.

Re: Tables dropping formatting
I've gathered the code into Dreamweaver, removed all the excess text and index terms to simply things, and discovered only two discrepencies in the header of the topics. the one that doesn't work has two additional functions called out after the MadCap.xsd schema. They are... MadCap:check_list="...

Tables dropping formatting
I've got a series of tables that appear in different topics throughout my project. They use a table style to set the header, footer and alternating row styles. A table class is then applied to them to set position the tables' left margin. When you preview the tables in print layout they look just li...

Push table outside of a frame
I've got a body frame that runs two thirds of the width of the page, aligned with the header and footer on the right-hand side. This leaves three inches of white space on the left hand side of the frame (except for the header and footer that take up 7 of the pages 8.5 inches of width). Now what I'd ...

I've been working on polishing up my index for printed output. Re: Can't rename style
UPDATE
Okay. I did some experimenting. I can change the name of styles that I create from scratch, but not of those I copy and paste. For example. If I copy h1 and paste it, it appears as h11. I can't change h11. However, I CAN change h1.

Can't rename style
Running Flare 4.0, and I've hit a bug that I haven't seen reported anywhere. In the Style sheet editor I can't rename a style (in either the simple or advanced view). I can change it in the text version of the style sheet and it'll update when I reopen it in the editor, but if I go through the renam...

Re: First Page not taking
Somehow I managed to fix the problem, but I'm not exactly sure how. I think Flare might still have a lot of bugs floating around the new Page Layout engine. Now I've got my page layouts applied and the properties are set just like you suggest. However, now the first page is applied to every topic be...

Wrap Headings outside of the body frame
Anybody know of a way to wrap headings that are positioned outside the body frame? As it stands now, some of mine extend right off the side of the page. I'd like to keep them tucked in with the margins of the page, if possible.

First Page not taking
I've created a page layout with a first, left, right and empty page. Then I applied that page layout to the first chapter in my TOC. However, Flare seems to be ignoring the existence of the First page and applies the Left page to the first page of the section. Obviously I'm overlooking something. An...

Re: Space after <ol>s not exporting to Word.
Well, neither option worked, but that's okay. I'd already created a last line style, but was looking for an alternative. Perhaps they'll have a little more control over these kinds of things when Flare 4 hits the ground with built in printed documentation support. At least I hope. I have a lot of ho...

Re: Space after <ol>s not exporting to Word.
Okay. Probably I'm not employing the complex selector style correctly, but if I am it doesn't seem to get passed to Word. Sigh. Here's how it looks in a snippet of my CSS code @media Print { ol > li:last-child { margin-bottom: 20pt } p.Normal { font-family: Garamond; text-align: justify; } The <li> ...

Re: Space after <ol>s not exporting to Word.
Lisa, if you set the margin-bottom on the <li> it puts space between all the list items, which breaks up the nice "block of information" look that I"m trying to preserve. I did set the margin-bottom to 20pt without anything changing. I think you're right that the <ol> just isn't passe...
