Re: Are folks using the Analyzer link checking?

I use Analyzer as well (V2.3). The problem I've had since I first started using it is that the database has a text string limit of 4,000 characters and I have a number of lengthy <pre></pre> sections where the text inside the set of the tags exceeds the 4000 character limit. I reported it as a bug ...

Re: Are folks using the Analyzer link checking?

The low traffic in this forum makes me wonder whether people are using Analyzer very much. Admittedly, though, it's not an app you're going to use every day the way many of us use Flare... but since my experience is also making me wary of it, and the forum's just crying out for new threads anyway :...

Re: does anyone know what's in store in Flare 6

Since I'm starting at it while I compile right now, I'd also like to see the 'Topic excluded from output' information removed from the build Errors log and moved to messages. I know it's excluded - I told you to do that. It would be much easier to sort through and troubleshoot errors if I didn't hav...

Re: does anyone know what's in store in Flare 6

Yep, I'm highly interested in Team Server. For Flare 6, I'd really like to see some work on making it easier to do some common activities in Flare, such as inserting variables, snippets, etc. I'd like to see the conditions dialogs all work the same way (and preferably, better than any of them curre...

The only thing I really miss is the topic map web feature. Other than that, there's not really much that I preferred RH over Flare.

Re: Fixing Links to External CHM Files

For external CHM links, we use this format: mk:@MSITStore:help_file.chm::/help_topic.htm This renders the links correctly in the compiled help, but Analyzer 1 doesn't catch broken external links. I think this was fixed in Analyzer 2 though... I've also found that the radio buttons for links are inco...

Re: Remove Search Highlighting Not working

Hi Rachel, Thank you for your reply. Are you referring to the "Search Highlight Off' option under the Options button (toolbar)? I believe that one is only to permanently disable/enable the search highligh feature. It won't remove the search highlighting for the topic as the other WebHelp toolb...

That wouldn't surprise me in the least. But we have an.... enthusiastic validation team who want to know the exact version number.

Re: Remove Search Highlighting Not working

Remove Search Highlight is actually a toggled option available if you use the 'Options' button. It's available in the drop-down. So it can be used in HTML.

Have you tried running C:\Program Files\MadCap Software\MadCap Flare V4\Flare.app\Resources\Bin And running RegisterItcc.bat not sure it if this is anywhere near a solution but i thought, this is something new to do perhaps. I have not tried either of those. What exactly would they do? (We're almos...

Re: Compiler caching obsolete topic names

Actually, I was suggesting removing all <title>... </title> tag sets. When you compile, are you deleting the entire Output folder before building? Every time you compile, Flare creates a new set of search*.xml files. Maybe your browser is caching those files. I tend to delete the Output folder befo...

Re: Compiler caching obsolete topic names

If I understand what you're saying, the search results are returning a topic title of "X" instead of "Assign X"? If that's the case, try opening one of those topics in the Internal Text Editor and see if there is a <title>... </title> group of tags. Normally, Flare determines th...

We also use ClearCase and have yet to find a plug-in we can use. Supposedly, there is a plug-in on the ClearCase installation CD, but our ClearCase Administrators can't find it. If you are able to find a plug-in, please let us know!

Compiler caching obsolete topic names

This is a really strange issue, and we've done troubleshooting in every way we can think of, so I'm hoping someone here has a new idea. Here's the issue: 1. We have topics that were originally created in RoboHelp as web help files. 2. These files were converted to html and then to Flare. 3. These fi...

Re: Partial search in HTML help?

Hi Pete, Thanks for your quick reply. The search functions when you enter in the entire topic title. On further investigation of this issue, it looks like the submitter of our issue is expecting the search to use % logic to find items. What I find most curious about this whole issue, is that if I ha...

Partial search in HTML help?

When trying to enter a partial search in HTML help, I get 'No topics found.' I have 'Show Advanced search' checked in the skin file. Other HTML help files (such as the one for Internet Explorer) allow users to do a partial search. For example, if I'm looking for a topic 'Enter provider information' ...

Re: allowing users to opt out of participating in feedback

If a user installs a feedback-enabled help system, I believe that the system will push to the feedback server, information about which search terms that user has searched for. Is there a way for a user to choose to opt out of this? (i.e. for the user to click something, or do something, which will ...

Problems with sub-topics in Index

I've encountered a really weird issue within the index. When you enter in a top level index term, the index does just fine. But when you try to put a space, or any other character in order to try to jump directly to a second-level term, the index automatically jumps to the last sub-entry within that...

Our wish list: Allow users to turn off the feedback mechanism if they so desire. We use the Feedback Admin with our own server solution for the Feedback mechanism. We have a license with 15 keys. For the first 3 months, everything worked just perfectly. I have a similar issue with removed identifiers and IDs in the alias file. Even when the identifiers are unassigned from Flare, then removed, and the topic is removed from the project, we get these errors.
