Re: Can you use CodeSnippets to show text from a separate file?

OK....
So I now have a Batch Script that merges the following:
Start-Lines to open the Code-Snippet
A Flare Variable Set File (with the XML Declaration removed, as Flare couldn't cope with this in the Code-Snippet!)
End-Lines to close the Code-Snippet

This looks great in Preview mode in Flare ...

Can you use CodeSnippets to show text from a separate file?

Hi!
The CodeSnippet option could be helpful, but I am looking to include ~14 Batch Scripts in separate Topics using CodeSnippets...

However the BatchScripts are liable to change, so I do not want to copy and paste text into the CodeSnippet - that would be too painful...

It would be super helpful ...

Re: Parameter driven Target-based Conditions - Another Way?

Thanks AlexFox and robdocsmith!

I had a look at Target Control, but in the end decided that I could do the job myself, and keep control of deployment myself, with batch scripts to build the specific Target from a Target Template...

CSS Variables NOT Resolved for WORD output!!! :(

Hi!
I have made use of a top-level CSS file that contains root level CSS Variable definitions.
I have added the CSS Variables to MadCap Table CSS files...

When I generate output for a PDF Target, the values are resolved without issue or problem... :D

Sadly, I also need to generate output for a ...

SVG Image OK in PDF but causes an error with WORD!!!

Hi!
I am using multiple SVGs for documents that need to be output mostly to PDF, but occasionally to MS WORD...

I have come across a scenario, where an SVG that I include in the front page header is included OK with the PDF output, but when using the same image with output to MS WORD, the following ...

Re: Conditions in page layout

I have tried to make use of conditions in Page Layouts to overcome issues between PDF and WORD output...

For example, I have come across:
SVG images that are happy in the PDF header, but result in errors with the WORD output
Rotated Frames for a Watermark which are OK in the PDF, but generate ...

Re: Can you use MadCap Variables in the ConditionTagExpression?

Hi AlexFox!

I've had an initial look at Target Control (https://www.tbro.dk/) , but using Variables inside the ConditionTagExpression would have simplified things a lot!

We currently would only need to modify the ConditionTagExpression , so Target Control might be a touch excessive...
I might have ...

Can you use MadCap Variables in the ConditionTagExpression?

Hi!

I am working on projects that have multiple "pseudo parameters" that impact selection of the target file and consequently affect the conditions included or excluded....

I see that the Target file can handle the use of MadCap Variables , for example, in the CatapultTarget tags, I have the line ...

Parameter driven Target-based Conditions - Another Way?

Hi!
I have the scenario where I have documents that are generated with different conditions depending on an expanding set of (currently) 6 parameters.

I currently have a core MadCap Project where I have set up Targets to cater for each combination of parameter, defining the required conditions ...

Can you run Madbuild without generating a log file?

Hi!
I've got madbuild running to generate builds of a MadCap Flare Target into PDF/Word. :D

Is it possible to build a MadCap target with madbuild and not generate the MadCap log file ? :?:

I tried using the -log true and -log false options with madbuild , but this appeared to make no difference ...

Re: Keep text together

The solution works-ish...

I have PDF output built from an imported HTML file with a table...
Sadly, a variable is referenced in the description of an item within the table...

Without the solution, the variable is shown split at the end of the column... :(
When using the solution, the variable ...

Re: A List Of abreviation using variable

Hi!
Sorry, I don't have the answer...
Just to say that you are not alone in your search for the functionality to display the Comment text for a Variable definition...

A nice idea...
What is it they say about "Great minds...." ? :D

Re: Automatically adding a caption to an image or table

If you import a table, for example from Excel, the table gets cleared each time, so setting the table properties manually is pointless...
Ideally there would be a nice, clean way to add the caption and table count into CSS...
I've tried, but no joy as yet...

Re: Central Reviews - How to Hide Tags

That sounds like time for a "training opportunity" for your reviewers! :D
I make significant use of variables and find it helpful to see what is/isn't a variable in the review.

Rather than remove the brackets totally, a switch on/off would be useful!

One problem, I've found is that Central doesn ...

TableStyle Selection - Cannot select 28th style!

I have created multiple table styles to display tables, and have hit a problem where the TableStyle chooser now states:
" Only 27 of 27 styles shown "...

I have created 27 tablestyles, and my problem is that Flare does not show all 27 tablestyles!!!
Only 20 are shown!!!

How can I get Flare to ...

Problems Styling Table Style inside a List

Any thoughts on using CSS to fix the table width when a table is in a 1st or 2nd-level list item would be great! (Esp for Word Output!)

I am using Flare Table Styles OK with PDF output that looks good with 100% inside and outside lists for PDF output...

However, I also need to create output in MS ...

Re: Setting table width and column width with Table Stylesheet

If you are defining the tables as Flare Table Styles, then you can add the column width % in the definitions...
I have set the table width as 100% and added column width % values for ALL columns, and the output looks good in PDF and on-screen...

This seems to look pretty good, though not all ...
